FYI, Darrian knows draconic... I know - the accent was just too thick and the lizardmen too far away to hear clearly.Init order : Vadania : 23 Lizardmen warriors : 14 Ylva : 13 Darrian : 10 Ka'lion : 8 Aelos : 6
Just Vadania/Ylva to roll and post actions if init above the lizardmen.

Darrian, recognizing his mage hand spell will be useless against stopping an alert for other lizardmen to join, holds off on any action until another hidden party member makes a move.

Darrian - mage hand is not useless in attacking the horn. All you need to do is pick up a small rock with the mage hand and stuff the horn with it. All it takes is some creative thinking.

Did Ka'lion lighten his load before standing up? Specifically, can he run at his full 40' speed?
Has Ka'lion started running yet? How far is he from the Lizardmen? Specifically, could they reach him with a charge?

Ka'lion is not wearing his pack yet. He was waiting for the rest of the party to be ready while he studied the tracks. So he has a 40 move. But he would need to leave his pack behind. He's not wild about that. He would of called to the lizard men at 90 feet or so. But it's up to the GM to decide the distance. He'd want to keep the spears past long distance if possible.

Where I was going with that is that if Ka'lion can move at full speed, he can probably outrun the lizardmen and get away without a fight. The rest of us could recover both his pack and his mule and meet him elsewhere later.
The big problem with that plan is we have no set meeting place, and there is no way to let Ka'lion know that's what we do without also alerting the Lizardmen.
The other option is to attack, but considering what shape all but Maddy is in, that isn't likely to go well. Most of us are low enough on HP that a single hit could kill us (well start us bleeding to death).
Now if we had encountered the lizardmen a bit after dawn, after we had gained and cast healing spells, we could maybe have taken them on.

[/color][/quote]The group is fairly close together and in the same cover as earlier - just beyond the edge of the valley and about 70 feet from the lizardmen (who closed as Ka'lion bolted). The lizardmen don't seem eager to engage in a footrace in the murky light, based on their previous actions they will likely call once more to alert others along the valley. (Vadanias action)

Since they were going to sound the alarm anyway, might as well give them cause. Though the group was in bad shape, they did outnumber the Lizardmen two to one. But this was going to be primarily Maddy's fight, Vadania hoped she was up for it!
"Get the one with the bugle first," whispered Vadania to those close enough to hear (which doesn't include Ka'lion).
Matching actions to words, Vadania fires from surprise at the one carrying the bugle, then backs away.
[dice=20]+5= 20 to hit (not including any bonus for surprise) [dice=8] damage 1/2 move further away from lizard men (trying for 100 feet away, but don't want to get pinned against cliff).
Vadania hoped that the lizard men would think she was the only ambusher and be surprised by the others as well.[rand=71895336010493346889004369731992829430053941905540783991338685155]

The arrow strikes the lizardman and lodges in his armour - Vadania is uncertain if he is wounded or not but the arrow does little to hinder him as he raises the horn and blasts out a warning across the valley.
The other two lizardmen turn towards this new threat and crouch low amongst the brush, readying their javelins.

Ka'lion turns at 100 feet and using his sling fires - target horn user. +2 lvl+1 dex+roll =[dice=20]=14 damage = [dice=4]=2 future reminder for me personally sling is 50 ft increments. bullets 50% destroyed or lost, so at - 1 per range category 14 hit 12. So I'm going to need to roll at least 18's to hit them.

At this range the sling bullet lacks the speed or accuracy to best the lizards armour, bouncing harmlessly from the warriors shield.

Darrian, being mostly spent for spells, pulls his crossbow and lets a bolt fly at the horned lizardman. Aelos moves in and positions himself so that the lizardmen will have to go around him to get to the archers. Then he tries out his trustish mace.

Character status is in this thread
Short summary: Vadania and Ka'lion might survive one hit, if the damage was low. Ylva, Darrian, and Aelos would probably survive a hit (unless it was high damage) but not a second. Maddy has above full HP,, and sneak attack damage.
So for this fight, we need Maddy! But she can't do it alone, so the rest of us need to help the best we can. Vadania is actually much more accurate with her bow than with a sword.
