Aelos answers, "if the church knew what was happening here they would surely march against it ... but it would take time to rally forces and I fear what may happen until then, what this evil seeks to the east"

Vadania answered, "Are you sure you don't want to go with us to talk to the church in Merebas? I'm sure you would be much more persuasive than I."

Aelos shakes his head, "i'd slow you down, and my magic would do more good here."

"I had Lot's of contact with others. Nearly all monks. They just don't like to talk and most of their free time was training me to be a monk. The training hasn't taken hold yet. They kept telling me my rage is hurting me. So I had Lot's contact with people that nearly never say anything. But I admit my communication skills are poor. It didn't matter with the monks. It also doesn't matter in the wild either. I just don't see much value in talking out my issues with lizard men, goblins, undead or city guards. They all want you to die quickly so your out of the way." said Ka'lion

Vadania answers Aelos, " You've been keeping up with me just fine. I think anyone would slow Ka'lion down. But if you feel you're better needed here..." Vadania shrugs. It was as she said, she doesn't have much practice at persuasion. To Ka'lion she said, " Sounds like you've know more people than I, but my master was much more talkative. I wouldn't put city guards in the same class as goblins or undead though, they seemed to like me and Ylva just fine. They even hired us to look for a lost caravan." OOC: It hard to imagine any worse diplomats to send to ask for help than us

"Aelos could keep up with me if he was less afraid of getting hurt and got rid of his crippling armor and choose leather or padded instead. So could you Vadania . I'd be happy to teach both of you to find your inner barbarian. Come to think of it. I should pick up some studded leather armor and a shield while we are here." said Ka'lion
To Vadania he said, "I know a lot of people but few people do I know well enough to trust. As far as putting the city guards in the same category as the walking dead - they didn't point their arrows at you."
OOC: It hard to imagine any worse diplomats to send to ask for help than us OOC : I agree with you. Ka'lion simply finds depomancy a waste of his efforts and time and Vadania rarely follows Ka'lions advice. Even when he proves to be right such as carrying lots of rope.

With a look on her face that Vadania doesn't recognise the old woman leaves the group to their debate and steps outside.
"At sunrise i'll prepare what spells I can to aid you", says Aelos, "a little morning fog to hide your escape perhaps, you could crawl out along the rivers edge."

"Vadania you need to use the tribal mask. Three wolves low and running all out have a very good chance of getting away without injuries and we can cover much more ground very quickly doing so. I'll find some armor that druids and barbarians can use that is light enough to use. We can't use the magic armor we found. And Aelos wont use it - so I suggest giving it to the priest that is going to help us tomorrow. It's fair pay. And if it turns out we need it to kill the demon we know where to find it." said Ka'kion preferring to get rid of dead weight to carrying it.
Ka'lion's gives Aelo's ten gold for the old women that tried to help them with the book and then leaves to buy studded leather armor that fits him and a leather shield. He heads to the people with animals to bucher. They are most likely to have what he wants or to know where he can get it.

Ka'lion is directed to the trader Kreed, Jeromes brother. They do not look alike, Kreed is a portly fellow in gaudy clothes that have seen better days.
Despite the bleak situation he is eager to trade, indeed he offers Ka'lion a discount on his goods - though his prices still seem a little steep - limited stock, short supply and all that.
His caravan is packed with all manner of objects including weapons and armour, Kreed vouches for the quality of it all but in truth Ka'lion could not tell a fraud from a masterpiece. In any event he'll sell you a suit of boiled leather armour for ten gold.

"10 gold. Surely you can make a better offer then that. And I wanted a leather sheild. If not. I can do without. I also have some weapons for trade. What are you offering?" asks Ka'lion laying out the non magical items he's carrying.
1 Quarterstaff [1d6/1d6, crit x2, 4 lb., two-handed, bludgeoning] 1 Hand Axe [1d6, crit x3, crit x2., 3 lb., light, slashing] 1 Battle Axe [1d8, crit x3, 6 lb., one-handed, slashing] 1 pitted iron Falchion [2d4, crit 18-20/x2, 8 lb, two-handed,slashing]

Vadania will seek out the priests again, to see what they can tell her about the mask. Being able to move like a wolf would have definite advantages, but it might not work for her like it did for Ka'lion.

"Not much call for axes here, but I could trade you for the sword. Seen better days mind you but i'm sure i've got a shield I could part for it."
Kreed pulls down a large oval shield from his collection, a composite wood and leather construction with a rounded metal boss in the centre and a faded star pattern on the surface that Ka'lion is unfamiliar with. The edges are lined with metal to reinforce its structure against cleaving weapons and while the shield has seen better days it does appear to be structurally sound.
The priestess can tell Vadania little about the mask, save for an observation that in its damaged state it may not function at all. Her knowledge is more in the field of potions.

Ka'lion pulls out his coin pouch. After leaving the ten gold for the lady that helped them with the book. He's got just a little more then 5 gold left. He'll trade the sword for the shield and he'll walk away from the armor. That leaves 5 gold in his pocket.

Ka'lion will take a look around town for weakness in the towns defenses and then get some sleep. and meet up with the party latter.

The camp is a large open rectangular shape surrounded by a hastily reinforced palisade and a shallow pit filled with sharpened stakes. Most of the defensive work has be concentrated around several watch towers and a guard post at the single entrance, all manned by archers with a view over the palisade.
At the rear of the camp a fast flowing and relatively wide river flows, though the well in the centre of the camp and buckets of rainwater are used for fear of contamination. The riverbank is also patrolled and stakes have been placed both on the shore and beneath the surface of the water, though something as small as a goblin trying to attack though such heavy water would have a hard time of it.
The rest of the camp is a mixture of tents, carts, wagons, and a few basic structures made from wooden poles and canvas sheets. The defences are enough to stop ill equipped raiding parties but would be little use against a true military force, that it has stood suggests that the goblins are - as the women implied - ill equipped bands of cave dwellers.

Ka'lion wont use the river to leave the encampment, they are likely to be impelled by the traps set by semi-friendly fire in a fog bank. He's going to want to leave by the frunt gate using to fog to draw out the goblins.
