As usual, Japic's idea of movie discussion is a good one. I recently came across a trailer for "Hero" a martial arts epic with Jet Li. Coincidentally my favorite actor and genre, I had to buy it. A week later, from Honk Kong, I have the DVD and have watched it.
My thoughts:
For those of you that have seen 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon', you will most likely love this movie.
It is well directed, with extremely vivid imagery and excellently coreographed fight scenes. Great use of colors and the special effects are top-notch.
A few fun things I noticed:
I've never seen so many damn arrows in my life...or a bigger army in any movie. The're this Qin army that are reknowned archers and deadly accurate, plus like 100,000 in number. When they get done hailing arrows on this city, the buildings are 'fuzzy', I mean to say there isn't an inch of wall that doesn't have 3+ arrows in it.
Also, I think it's bad-ass when a fighter draw their weapons and can fight without even actually striking. I mean, there's this one part where the force of this woman fighter drawing her blade is powerful enough to blow the enemy back with wind. They have good use of that in this movie.
Anyways, if you've seen it, post thoughts, and for those of you that haven't and are 'more established' members of the board or that I've done business with and REALLY want to see it, I'd be willing to pass it around.

Similar movies that KMan liked and also owns direct from Honk Kong: {In case you haven't noticed, I'm into Asian Cinema}

{The above was directed by Takashi Miike, which is both extremely messed up and not for the kiddies.}
As stated, if you are like me and REALLY must watch any of the above, let me know via PM and we'll work something out.
