Hello All,
I've compiled the list of games I'd be comfortable running for my inaugural return. Please check the poll above and offer some input. Even if you can't join, feel free to cast your vote as for what you'd like to see and or read. Below is a synopsis of the above ideas.
Mr Self Destruct
System: Shadow Run, 4th Edition
Pitch / Overview: The Cranial Bomb. A rather crude way of protecting sensitive data embedded in the brains and memory of executives, but a necessity for the lifetime contract wage slave. Sure ,you get a fat check but is it worth the headaches from having syntech explosives packed in your skull? It used to be a 50/50 split on the benefits for those that had to get them...but the last month has changed that completely. High ranking corporate wage slaves have been popping like soda cans unexpectedly; their heads painting the walls in a thin layer of blood and gray matter. In the middle of lunches, on the side of the street, at home in the middle of the night.... it seems to be random and certainly not limited to one corporation. The first few were written off as malfunctions, but the swell in these 'accidents' has people panicked. Corps are offering big bucks to find the source of these explosions, runners are taking gigs left and right from fat-walleted corps dumping money to cool the wage earners on their payroll into submission. Will you find the source of these triggered explosions? And if so, will you stop it or take the reigns and bring the biggest corps to their knees?

System: d20 Cypher System
Pitch / Overview Ok, so not much of a pitch here, but I will tell you that Numenera was unanimously well received by my local table group. It's a d20 based system whose core is rooted in exploration and discovery. So much so that their isn't a real focus on loot, crafting, or even a money system. I didn't believe it until I saw it played out, when something was killed; it wasn't "what did it have on it?" it was "where did it come from / what was it's motive?". It's a unique world backed by a rules-light system that is very easy to learn. There are 3 classes, Glaives (Fighters), Nanos (Magicians or technicians) and Jacks (Jack of all trades). Difficulties are 1-10 (10 being impossible) and you multiply that number X3 for your number to beat on a d20 so a 6 becomes an 18. You modify the number before you roll, so a 10 is possible to achieve so long as you can alter the number.
I'm getting off topic, but essentially the Numenera world is very open. There are no over-arching villains, marauding armies etc. Just a whole bunch of seeds. For this game, I would basically start a series of polls from the players and we would build the game together as we go. Do you want to play in the Steadfast? (The organized world) of the Beyond? (the wild wastes). Are we interested in archaic ruins, or unknown and alien outposts? The list goes on. Kind of a meandering pitch, but hopefully you get the idea.
Sacramentum Gladiatorum
System: BRP (Basic Role Playing, Percentile Based System)
Pitch / Overview Ok, so this system would use the BRP or percentile based system. Everything is based in percentile, so 89% punch gives you that much of a chance to punch someone. One of the very easiest systems (I think) to work with. The setting itself would be set in historic Roman times, about 8 years after the 3rd servile rebellion after Spartacus and his slaves were defeated. The first triumvirate of Crassus, Ceasar and Pompey has come to power and the empire is facing drastic changes. I would ask players to create two PCs, one of the Plutarch caste (senators, general in army, merchants etc) and one of the plebian caste (slaves, gladiators etc). It would be a very in depth story based game, and to be frank, quite mature. For those that have seen Spartacus series, it would similar to that. Lots of cursing, double crosses, murder and other mature thematic elements.
Cthulhu Invictus
System: BRP (Basic Role Playing, Percentile Based System)
Pitch / Overview Same BRP system as above, and of course with the added threat of Cthulhu and sanity! Hooray! So historically set in ancient Rome, the players would be dragged into the dark underworld of the Mythos. Cultists, ancient unfathomable Gods and deranged and incomprehensible plans for the end times of man.....but all you have is your torch and bronze sword. The adventure would take the Roman characters into the Kush, or what we call modern day Egypt. A world far from Rome and shrouded in mystery, cloaked in dark rituals and ancient pagan gods. What will you find in the stony tombs of the burning deserts...and will you survive it?
D&D Next 5th Edition
System: d20 D&D System
Pitch / Overview Yup, for those that want to try it, I'm willing to run it. New classes, streamlined rules, and stolen ideas from other systems (seriously, compare trinkets to oddities from Numenera). I'll put up as much info as I can for those that don't have the books and we'll work together to understand the new rules. It would be a pretty basic campaign and even that we can collaborate on; a quest, a rescue, an infiltration or recovery....it'd be up to the players. I just really put this option up for those that are interested in playing D&D Next. I could even find a pre-packaged campaign at my local gaming store to run as well. If this is selected, we'll flesh it out.
