Seeing how little effect her arrows had, Vadania switches tactics and calls another bolt of lightning to strike the demon, using the thunder cloak to enhance it (2nd enhanced bolt). She continues to use the Flaming Sphere to attack the demons guards. Ylva continues to try and clear her eyes from the flash.

Ka'lion sees no change in his fire bolt, nor any particular effect on the demon, but as it flies past the silver flame he thinks for a moment that he spots a spark of energy reaching out from the flame itself and recalls the effect of throwing his hammer through it earlier.

Vadania finally manages to chase down one of the warriors with the flaming sphere but the demon doesn't spare her even a glance. The lightning bolt however gets her attention - while it doesn't appear to inflict a great deal of damage the demon does not appear to have any protection against this form of energy.

Lowering her bow for a moment the demon responds by pulling a coil of rope from her belt and throwing it towards the group. As it strikes the ground it comes to life snaking along the ground rapidly towards Vadania before leaping up and threatening to entangle her (Ref save DC 16 - additional effects if failed).

Behind Vadania the exchange of fire between the archers and Lynette continues but her ice magic lacks punch and she calls out to Vadania for a wand, or a plan of action - exposed in the middle of the room the group are being worn down.

Ka'lion throws the produce flame spell on to the flame hoping it will burn the shadow cage, but so far he's largely wasted his time. He's about ready to completely abandon the project and let the flame die and leave.




He rolled a 1, I'm just sick of seeing bad rolls - so I erased it. In this fight alone he's rolled 3 2's and a 1 out of 7 attacks. I'm sick of it! It takes all the fun out of the game. Scars doing nothing while Ka'lion decides if he's deserting.

Ka'lions firebolt passes through both the shadow cage and the flame, and while it appears to neither damage nor strengthen either he sees that it takes on a silvery light after passing through the flame much as his axe did.

Well on the bright side you can't actually miss the flame - it's an immobile object at point blank range, same as delivering a coup de grace attack.

Can't help you with your rolls but the party has a little bit more treasure coming their way - i'll give Ka'lion gloves of fortunate striking as his share - reroll a failed to hit once per day.

Now if on the other hand you could find a way to bind the vestige Balam that's a reroll evey 4 rounds... but that is a little beyond Ka'lions immediate grasp.

The group is gathered near the middle of the room. They entered from the sourth, the flame is in the middle.

Lynette's request made Vadania realize that she needed to start coordinating everyone. The fading of her last Flaming Sphere would limit her options, but perhaps Ka'lion had the right idea of attacking though the flame. "Ka'lion, trade places with me. I'm going to try sending arrows though the flame, arrows enchanted with the power the flame gave me in that burst. If it works, I'll be getting the demons full attention. Cast your healing cantrips on me while they're still boosted. When those are done I have some potions in my pack you can use to heal our wolves. Lynette, sorry, but you'll need to deal with the archers. Try my wand of Cold, maybe that will affect them. Once the wolves can see, you can lead a charge on them and put them in a melee fight."

Following her plan, she lines up the flame between her and the demon. Taking careful aim, she sends an arrow though the flame at the demon. As the arrow leaves her bow it takes on a silvery sheen, from her new Storm Lord talents. She hoped that it would become even more effective against the demon after it passes though the flame. If not, they would have to retreat to a more defensible corner, though she did not like the idea of letting the enemy have that much control over their position.

Well I can hopefully tell if this approach works vs the demon, since that shot should have hit. I'm hoping that the magic that makes the arrows count as silver means that the flame can further enchant it to affect the demon. How much longer till Ylva can see again?

Ka'lion lets Vandania try her plain. He doesn't have anything better. But he is running short on spells. He has 1 cure light, 2 cure minor and I think thats it.
How badly are everyone hurt?

Firing through the flame and shadow isn't easy, but the effects are immediate and visible as the arrow takes on an extra glow of silver fire. That certainly got the demons attention, and visibly wounded her.

(counts as holy - another +2 to hit and +2d6 damage. There is a concealment roll for shooting through the flame but this arrow hit it's mark)

Wouldn't help him with his misses or poor attack stats. The sword he was checking out back at camp granted +2 strength if properly imbued though.

Clearly threatened the demon throws aside it's bow and charges in to both Vadania and Ka'lion - Vadania readies herself but as she tries retrieve her shield the enchanted rope once again seeks to entangle her (another save - success or failure will determine the result of the demons attack as it's roll was marginal).

The warrior with it charges around the flame to attack Lynette and seeing the action unfold the archers follow suit, Scar regaining his sight in time to avoid the attacks but Ylva taking a solid blow from her unseen assailant (5 damage).

Both Vadania and Scar note that the demon seems pained this close to the silver flame even in its weakened state, but the cage of shadows itself seems to grow stronger in her presence.

The dice do average out it seems.

He rolled 23 times, not 20. The actual average is 9.7, so the dice are rolling a bit low for that sample.
