The runner, a survivor of the attack on the Hollow, offers to join the group for the journey back to Burr Town after speaking with Melwyn - though he seems to have mixed feelings about Vadania given recent events. It seems that in the wake of recent events the druids have been even more reclusive than usual and the land to the west of Burr is teeming with the stragglers of the ibixian and lizardmen tribes displaced in recent events.
Melwyns concern though was to his home, now an enclave of the mages and a point of contention with the people of Burr.

Vadania explains, "Other than Ka'lion here, I haven't seen another druid since my master died. I don't know what's going on with the other druids, I'm just trying to make the fell a better place. And your company would be most welcome. How fares Burrtown since we were last there?"

"I'm not long to Burr myself, but my mother was born there and I saw it as a boy" He collects his thoughts, "there is power there now that was not before. The tempest, the dragons, the shadows that walk. The old magics are returning."

"Shadows that walk?" echoed Vadania in surprise, "Is the town being attacked by walking shadows?"

The scout shakes his head at the question.
(Vadania would know he likely speaks of the shadows such as those the she and Ka'lion had encountered - though not of Ka'lions more recent encounters unless he had recounted them)

OOC: Ka'lion's player is home from the hospital and has a replacement computer (even older than the one that died). He should be able to post once he catches up with everything.

"Indeed the old magics are awakening," agreed Vadania, "Demons once again walk the earth, so we need to awaken the old magic to fight them."

"It is the magic that gives the demons their power. Only the strength of man can truly fight them, as they did of old when this land was conquered, as did the great King Grom, dragonslayer"
He speaks the last with pride. Vadania had heard some of the story, that the king of Deviln’s Hollow and his immediate family had stood against a dragon - indeed she had heard stories of the Hollows formation when the 'original' dragonslayer, Deviln, had gathered a number of the tribes under his banner long ago.

Ka'lion updates the group on what he has learned about the druids activties and the creatures he's encpounted and where to find them. If Melven's taught him enough for first level as a wizard and he wants to be paid Ka'lion will pay him off so he can go home. Ka'lion well seek out the southern women to talk to her to learn more about who she is and why she's here. He won't introduce himself until he's learned more about her as a percaution.
OOC: Sorry I missed posting but I had a dead computer and in the hospital for a week.

Ka'lion has some confidence in continuing his studies, if he could acquire a spellbook - or at least a few spell scrolls. Most of Melwyn's materials are still at his home though Burr Town will certainly have the basics.
Inside he finds the woman sitting near the adventurous group listening in as they finalise their plans to track down the ogre threat before the Burr guards arrive - as Ka'lion approaches one of the hopefuls rises, "you fought the ogres!"

"You give me to much credit. I was my parties snipper. I never even engaed any of them and considering how big and powerful an ogere is unless your very powerful without a lot of back up - your dead or a fool for attacking one. Unless you have barbarain training or monk ttraining an ogere is to fast to evade. We think there are at least 6 more with about 18 gnoll archers and a large number of kobalds to support them. A skilled party of 14 with 8 snippers might and I do mean might be able to handle them on horseback as long as they are prepaired to hit and run might work out fine if you have enough healers to keep you on your feet." says Ka'lion,"I'd like to talk with you before you leave." adds Ka'lion looking at the southern lady. "I'll be on watch tonight at high moon if you'd like talk before you go."

Ka'lions announcement that there are six ogres leads to an explosion of more conversation and planning, discussion of burning them out or splitting them up.
As they discuss their options the woman steps to the side with Ka'lion, "My name is Tamina. I see you are from the empire also, what is it you wish to speak of?"
(night has already passed - the first Ka'lion saw of the woman was in the morning)

"The empire has fallen upon troubled times, the sacking of Tumala could have led to nothing else."
Ka'lion is familiar with Tumula - the holy city to the south east, a symbolic place to the desert tribes and not under the direct control of the king. Technically it is the second city to bear the name as the original Tumula was lost to the sands long ago.

Ka'lion, as a native of the lands, understands that 'empire' refers to both the actual empire - ruled by the Empress to the north - and the smaller kingdom to the south ruled by the King, separated by a particularly barren and inhospitable stretch of desert.
At one point in the past when the empire's sorcerers were of greater power the entire land was ruled by a single Emperor/Empress. The current kingdom was at that time a series of port cities and towns along the trade routes to the northern heart of the empire, and it is said that the barren lands between them are all that remains of an in-land sea that once prospered before long years of darkness, plague, and famine - accounted variously to the actions of necromancers and defiance of the gods.
The ports in the kingdom are the path to the great eastern lands - though land routes do exist through the untamed lands, Ka'lions family enclave being hidden amongst the northern parts of those lands.

"Aye, perhaps." They sound less than convinced but Vadania is familiar with the attitudes of the barbarian tribes - that magic is something that must be conquered and which is ever waiting to turn on it's would be master. Their shamans practice a mixture of mastery and appeasement as a consequence.
