Given that, I'm sure we should avoid the tower then. Raven's Roost is not a good place to be. OOC: On that point, Aegis should not take what you post in the OOC board as something he knows. Presenting backstory shouldn't come out all at once unless its an explanation for behavior. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. That's all I'm going to say on that matter. |

I just dont know if this is sort of party that when we get up there will do what is nessesary. Example a) Beth still wanted to subdue these guys when they said they would rape her. That attitude vs powerful mages will get you a spell to the face i dont know any but E did say magic can hurt quite a bit.
I can help u get your revenge on them, im just not sure if this party has the guts to do whats needed to do so.
Given that i think my vote is not going to the tower given they might try to charm us and do other bad shit to us there too.

Aegis sighs a little as he watches Kamon-Do and Thrack talk. They both had their demons and things to get through, but right now there'd be struggle.
OOC: I understand where you are coming from, but I never didn't get why he was doing something. What happened was that Thrack responded to something that he thought was directed at him due to his vulnerable state and went off on the wizard because he thought Aegis was downtalking him. Opening up was part of that. Aegis, the character, had no idea how to react to this because he isn't used to having people do that. Hence his confusion. The availability of background is irrelevant. |

OOC: At this point I'm assuming Aegis and Mika know each others backstories :-) In great detail. As shared in many nights of quiet conversation during long shifts on watch. But Mika doesn't know about the others, other that what has just been said. Though with her good insight, she can generally tell when someone is troubled. That's how she's guessing that Beth isn't fond of killing.

Mika tried to play peacemaker and bring the group back into accord.
"Beth, after hearing what those murderous bandits hand in mind for me if we were defeated , I really don't see the point of trying to transport them back to Fellcrest. They would just be but to death there, we can do that here and save ourselves a lot of trouble."
"Thrack, this group of bandits was a bad bunch indeed, but we don't know yet if they are all this bad. I suspect that most are, but there might be some that got pulled into this gang that aren't so evil. Those archers for example, weren't going to rape us, though they may have be just as inventive in coming up with ways to torture someone to death. Also, they might have slaves, captives forced to do grunt work or die."
"I got the feeling that the men we fought wouldn't even consider surrendering. I think they're convinced that surrendering would just be a slower way to die, though I'm not sure if it's because they're sure they would be executed anyway, or if the rest of the bandits would kill them."
"I suggest we simply kill anyone who brags about raping and torture. But if any do actually surrender, we don't kill those out of hand. At least not until we've heard their story. After we've heard their story, we might still decide they deserve death, But that shouldn't be a unilateral decision. "
"Beth, I know you don't like killing men, but these bandits weren't men, they were worst monsters then those kobolds you fought that Aegis told me about. Just these monsters happen to look human. But they are most definitely monsters, monsters preying on travelers, and not just killing them, but torturing them for pleasure."

While I can understand you want to kill him immediately because of what happened to your family, Beth has her reasons for bring prisoners back to town. That doesn't mean that the bandit will be unpunished. Rather the opposite actually. He'll have days to look forward to his impending doom. Help us keep him from escaping and his doom will be inevitable, and all the worse for the anticipation."
OOC: Short form, Mika agrees with Thrack that these bandits must die. She thinks Beth should kill any faced in combat. But if she knocks one out, or if one surrenders, no one else should kill it (at least not immediately)
OOC2: This will give Beth a chance to play off her background, and perhaps come to the conclusion that the prisoners need to die (or perhaps just some of them). She is empowered to be judge, jury, and executioner. This is not a role she welcomes. Let her roleplay coming to grips with it. You can roleplay Thrack not being happy with live prisoners (and already have). But give others room to roleplay their characters problems as well. It's OK for Thrack to ask, "Can I kill him now?" when the prisoner does something annoying. It's OK for Thrack to tell the Bandit in detail what's going to happen to him when he reaches Fellcrest (even if Thrack is making up the details), thus giving hem a taste of their own medicine. Thinks like this let you stay true to Thrack's background while leaving Beth room to play out her background problems. I'm think it will be entertaining. I've seen a bit posted already, as Beth deals with an unexpected side of herself,, and would like to see more.

Aegis simply nodded at what Mika was doing. It'd be bad if he said anything else at this point, especially with passions flaring up the way they were. Last thing they all needed was an argument when they were hunting down bandits of any kind. "Mika's mirroring my thoughts pretty well," was all he said and he left it at that. Really, if he was being honest with himself, that was already too much, but they would be quibbling with words beyond that so he kept his mouth shut.

OOC: To be clear, it is one particular wizard that cheated Kamon-do's family. Her complaint is with that wizard only, not with the entire group. Which will be much easier than taking on the entire cabal! And likewise, if the slavers are based in the same mountain, they can be dealt with without fighting the cabal. Lots of fun times to be had in that mountain <evil grin>

I get they may try " I surrender " too as a con or ploy on us. Con artists do it all the time. It also means capture they might brake out kill us in our sleep. But the enslaved should not die i agree they are innocent. If they did brake out after capture then i hold the right to kill them without backlash or judgment from the party.
Do know I always had issues with athority even as a kid but i could at least try to listen to you because u at least heard my outburst but i can see u understand how i felt.
You will make a great leader and u have my vote as ours . And just between you and me i think the caster has a crush on u. He means well i know he does not get me and thats ok not many do. But i think he can be a great guy if he learns to lighten up he might be acward in his courtship but again he means well so i hope u can give him a shot at romance if thats a thing for u again im a half orc im not use to how others well courtship elir said to use to be polite on the topic. And again thanks for standing with me out there even if u did not know why i was doing so."

Then we'll get to tracking those bandits. Unfortunately, we don't have a prisoner to interrogate, so we'll have to do it the hard way." She looks at Thrack and tries to sound as tough as possible. "You all knew the rules when you signed up for this mission. I told you from the start, we're authorized to use lethal force if they resist. But there will be no killing or maiming of prisoners. We are agents of the law, and we are better than they are. And Thrack, I expect you to stick to the plan next time instead of breaking formation and running out of cover by yourself like a Jenkins.
