OOC: I have 4 new players who have expressed interest in joining this game. So the team can continue to converse and make plans, but I will be waiting for them to join you on the road before advancing to the next scene. It's easy to have others wonder by while you're still on the road, but unlikely once you leave the road.

I thought you were quitting this game, that's why I looked for more players. I don't know if they will actually join or not. No mention has been made of race or class yet.

( So i was going to quite yes, but given if i made a new character i needed it to work with the party dynamic better.
If new people joined there might be more people to interact with and it could make game more interning.
It also made it easier to introduce a new character and not be random person hi im so and so.
i honestly dont know if ill want to do another point buy character for they never really comeout the way i want them too.
So if u let me, ill go with the basic aray of stats they have in phb that should math out to be the same as spending points to get there as i recall.
If not than i would realy need to sit down with u and figure out how to make workable and fun characters everyone can like/get along with because so far that has not worked and i would like to try to get along with everyone even in difference of how to rp.)

You worry too much about how your character can get along with the rest of the party, Danny. I think you overthink it. Just make a (probably nonevil) character who's willing to work with the other characters and won't leave in a huff if they ever disagree with a party decision, and you'll get along fine.

OH BOY (ducks and covers) but seriously thrack had a reason for the way he acted and was RPing it well from my perspective. small point is given that it can't be all one way or the other but there was common ground given by DM. Just my two cents k.

I mean, maybe I approach it differently because I mostly play Adventurers League, where you're all a party from the start and there's a rule that explicitly says everyone has to get along. And I don't know that it's necessarily wrong to go deep into roleplaying putting the group together. But it's just a lot easier if you start with the assumption that the party is ultimately going to be adventuring together. So that's my advice.

Getting along with the rest of the party enough to function is pretty much a requirement, otherwise your character isn't in the game.
I noticed that Beth was willing to compromise on her original capture all the bandits alive stance, relaxing it so that the rest of the party could kill those they were facing in combat. Unfortunately, Thrack's player felt that Thrack couldn't compromise on his kill all bandits stance, even those who are helpless prisoners. Which is too bad, because if he had compromised, the captive bandits might have convinced Beth that Thrack was right...
Compromising to get along with the rest of the party doesn't mean giving up on your character motivations. It means that neither side gets all that they want, but they get something they can live with.

So my first reactions to this wernt great, i felt g guys what gang up on me.. but looking at it u all have soild points. So moving forward:
In best interst of party because i suck at playing LG without bossing others around and i agree that would suck to have as a teamate. What alignment would be the best for working with the party?
I realy want this next character to be able to fallow the style your all going for( i admit its not really my best play style but ill give it an honest try). Im not really sure if i the player can do that all the time. So so ill need help in guiding me to be able to do so and im asking my fellow player please help me best u can to do that.
Ideas to help things go smooth with my new character introduction: Maybe if my character somehow knew more then one or two of the party If they had conections with more then just one pc maybe that could help solve alot stuff. That way because i knew them well they could still have a interesting backstory, have it matter to them and the party as a hole ( for their apart of the backstory aspect.) And best part he would know what they wanted to accomplish and how to fit in.
That will also get rid of to me " hey stangers come team up beacause well i dont know u look like grwat people and all..
So in all i wish to meet the dm and player half way:
So i see a lot of upside to this new development.
Is party and dm willing to help me do this?.
Normaly i dont play for need but in this rare case it might make sence if i did.)

I don't think we're trying to gang up on you, just help you be part of the game and still be able to enjoy it. The basic idea is that the characters have to get along mostly, or else they aren't in the game. Some conflict is OK, like the original difference of opinion on how to deal with the bandits (kill them all vs. capture them all). A compromised was reached (OK, to kill in a fight, but don't kill those that surrender). But after encountering the bandits and finding out that there were indeed as bad as they were reputed to be, Thrack decided that he couldn't leave any alive, even if they had surrendered.
This put him conflict with the designated leader of the party. Suggesting that someone else be leader didn't help the situation. So at that point he could stay as the evil member of the party (killing helpless prisoners is generally evil), or he could leave, so he left.
But nothing had really changed, Thrack already knew how bad these bandits were (the worst of the worst). If Thrack had stayed with the original agreement, he could have continued to argue his view (in moderation), and may have prevailed with time. The actions of any captive Bandits would have supported Thrack's arguments (and will do so even without Thrack).
I get how these bandits touch on Thrack's back story, and he has good reason to want them dead. But that doesn't mean he needs to kill them, they will be executed once brought back to town.
This is touching Beth's backstory as well, she IS going to be a leader, and needs to learn the role. But she's reluctant to take on life vs. death responsibility at this time, and needs to learn to do so. Which is part of why these bandits so clearly deserve death, to make that easier. But I might though in some that don't to confuse the issue....

For clarification I did agree with you and the firm way Beth spoke to Thrack while made sense in a military way it was not how to convince Thack to do something in my and my characters mind. You don't try to force something on someone who is not afraid to fight. Diplomacy "I need to bring him/her back alive to show my superiors that I'm capable and wish for you to aid me in this!"
anything on the new players?

Here are some concepts off the top of my head that you could try that you might have an easier time with:
- A poet, songwriter, or storyteller who is interested in chronicling the party's adventures, a la Brother Gilbert from Dragonheart. (Entertainer or Sage background.)
- A wandering hedge priest who enjoys adventure and hopes to convert the party to their religion, a la Book from Firefly. (Acolyte background.)
- Another member of the Fallcrest Guard, on the same leave as Beth. (City Watch or Investigator background.)
- A character who adventures for the challenge, to test themself and grow stronger. (Gladiator, Outlander, Far Traveler, or Folk Hero background.)

Ty u all for giving me your prestives. It goes to show different eyes see different things in situations. I guess I took this a little too personal. I tend to do that and shouldn't. I work on it daily and i slip from time to time. Ty for showing me when i do. In short i apologize in how i came about this, its awesome to see your help in this different way of rping. Know it wont come naturally in this different way but im willing to try.
Our Great start so far is:
Daklin Shortrout:
Halfling,goblin or gnome:
Bard: enertainer or folk hero.
If maybe u can help me with the point by cause i suck at making characters using point buy starting stats.

So, for a Bard, you probably want a race that boosts Charisma, so that you can have a 16 in your primary stat—an important consideration in point buy since you can't buy above a 15 and the extra +1 is a big deal in this edition. Of the three in your list, that leaves just halfling (lightfoot). Which is a fine race. (Being immune to nat-ones is pretty sweet.)
Your ability scores might look something like: 8 Str, 14 Con, 14+2 Dex, 10 Int, 10 Wis, 15+1 Cha.
Charisma is your primary spellcasting stat, so you want a 16. You're a relatively squishy caster, and you want to be able to stay alive so you can heal your friends, so a 14 in Con helps a lot with survivability. And Dex determines AC and weapon attacks—if you went College of Valor and got medium armor proficiency, you could get by with 14 and still have optimal AC, but in that case you'd be planning on making lots of weapon attacks, so you'd still want it as high as possible anyway. Wis and Int should not be dumped, but they're not priorities, so you can afford to skimp a little on them. And Strength can pretty much be ignored—it's not the halfling's job to be strong.

Charisma of +2 . And +1 to two other stats. Along with 2 skill proficiencies And darkvision.

I also agree that Beth's comments to Thrack were harsh, but I think that's because she didn't like Thrack heading out on his own to become a pin cushion. My take on it was that she cared about Thrack and didn't want him to get himself killed (as almost happened).
I thought Thrack was doing fine, a bit irritating at times (for some, not all of the group), a bit impatient at times (typical of barbarians), some conflict with the leader (also common with barbarians), but over all good role playing.
Suggesting a different leader didn't help anything, but by itself wasn't a problem. Mika wouldn't have accepted the role anyway. The only problem I saw with Thrack was when he decided that he would kill any prisoners taken alive. In other words, party conflict is entertaining, as long as you don't take it too far.
As for the new members, two have made characters. We will soon have:
Otho Grub, Lightfoot Halfling Bard, leaving Hammerfast due a situation with the Magistrate's daughter...
Kelyanna Oakenheal: Half-elf Paladin of nature, a wondering champion of the wilderness.
Haven't heard from the other two yet.
I can foresee some conflicts between a Paladin of nature and a Paladin of civilization.

With a party this big, some overlap in classes is unavoidable. For example we already have two fighters (very different), and will have two Paladins (also very different). So I see no problem with two Bards.

New thread to update the stats of the original 4 characters here
Short form: instead of asking the new players to redo their characters with point buy (including Mika), I'm letting everyone roll for stats and keep whichever is better: rolled stats or point buy.
