Exciting day!!! I finally managed to find a graphic artist and get a banner for the site. What do you all think? Would you change anything? It was done by a friend of Japic's, a student of graphic arts by the name of Jon. He is doing more work for me that will change the look of the site so look for more changes to come soon. If you guys like his work, he is available for hire and is currently looking for more projects, aside from what I give him to do of course. Drop him a line at: deadparrotpicts@comcast.net or AIM him as: ParrotDeath And let him know how much it rocks!! Also, the work he does is not free, but very reasonable. So don't ask him for freebies. Sorry Celebril, I can't 'move' the message indicators.
I could however, squeeze down the banner to a different size, but that's about it.
Hopefully it's bearable eh?

I think it does a good job of being fantasy related yet not the same as others you see floating around. It's unique and, to me, draws attention and holds it.
Could you be a bit more specific about your dislike of it Korone?

General's right, that's an eye popper.
Yeah, by 'Indiana Jones'.. maybe the font he used and the make them look like rock~earth..
It looked like that for me.. don't know why.
Sure, it have to be fantasy related.. I don't really see something else for your forum.
Maybe the sword (who look weird a bit) and the book (don't know why.. really..) with all these bright color..
I'm not really a fan of bright color like that..

Korone - Thanks for the input. I would entertain the idea of different logos if you have some more ideas to toss up. As for the 'rock' font, think of it as a Dwarven font...not Indiana Jones Alright, I might as well tell you what they hell this is about. I was riding in my car to work this morning and heard a song by a band called 'Tenacious D', frontman being actor Jack Black and in this song, Jack breaks the guitar solo and slowly sings the following phrase. "People...all that we're asking...is for you to drop trou and lay a 'Cleveland Steamer'...on my chest..."It kinda stuck. Sorry for being grotesque, it was just a first song you heard in the morning type thing. Glad most everyone likes the banner. Suggestions for other site graphics are both encouraged and welcome. |

After speaking to the artist about this banner, and Merv's most recent point about the book being upside down I have a few points to make muself.
Upon first inspecion the book does indeed appear upside down. However upon closer inspection it is being held up by something, something the artist called "a mystical force".
He continued to say, "Yes it is upside down to their angle. 'Cause it's not for them to read, but for the force which controls the adventures. They're there for the ride, not to understand why."
After that explination I think it makes perfect sense for the book to be as it is.

Greetings,
I am the designer/artist of the banner. I can readily explain just about anything about the banner.
First, let me address the 'Indy' title comment.
The font is actually similar to that used on Mountain Dew. The rock texture is one I chose to make it solidly stand out, and the idea was, yes to give it an 'Indy' type of feel. Because 'Indy' is synonamous with adventure. So, that's why the somewhat stone indy font.
As to the book, Japic is completely correct.
I can clarify if needed. Let me know.
And Thanks for all the great feedback, as well as the honor to put my work to good use.

P.S. BTW I know what a Cleveland Steamer is, and believe me, you DON'T want to know.
