That's a good point. My primary means of getting into melee combat is through Divine Power.
I know that a generally good item for a character using Divine Spell Power is a nightstick, which gives 4 extra turn attempts per day. The rules are unclear on if owning multiple stacks with itself, but I presume it wouldn't; further, I am unsure what their gold cost is.
If we're okay with dumping a fair amount of gold value, a standard set of prayer beads (valued at something like 30k gp) would also be useful.

Neera is pretty happy with her equipment. Vadania just collects odds and ends with nothing specific in mind. So if there's something you want, go for it!
Vadania would be intersted in a Quiver of Ehlonna, so as to have a place to store her bow, arrows, and wands and still have easy access to them. Or Heward’s Handy Haversack so as to be able to carry more stuff out, or even just a bag of holding would help. But getting your character well equipted is more important than any of those.

With 7500 gp off for the nightstick, how much (approx, assuming haggling and such) trade value would remain?

Hmm... Then yeah, the next purchase I'd probably make for Brenner would be prayer beads. So various misc items, like the handy haversack you mentioned and refilling our vigor wand, is probably the best bet. Can always save what we don't spend, assuming we live to spend it next time.

The standard string of prayer beads is just about within reach if the party doesn't retain any of the items they have gathered (though any cash from selling the tarp would be over and above this). Of course this would represent the bulk of the teams gains in the desert.

As the group complete their selection there is a commotion outside and a large man, perhaps the captain given his attire and the crews behaviour staggers in through the door, "so you'r tha ones from tha west, coin be damned itz the end times". More of the crew push in behind and pull him out as he continues more loudly in a slurred voice, "theres a storm t' the east, yer too late, all too late..."
The voice trails off as the merchant crew make quick apologies for his drunkeness and begin to count out coin seemingly eager to wrap things up.

Right. I suppose that's as ill an omen as any. We should be off.

Vadania asks, "What's going on in the East?"
Sounds like we have our next destination once we finish here...

"Capt'n called it the oncomin' storm", states one of the sailors, "he divines the winds, wouldn't have even stayed in port if not for the cold freezin' the ship to the dock, said whatever it was blew through here and across the seas. Nevr' known him to be wrong, but even he dont' claim to know what it was."

With little more to be said the party gathers their new possessions and depart. The story is familiar to Vadania - just as at the monastery it would seem that the demon had come and gone, awakening its ancient allies one after another. In the Steadlands this had led to the corruption and control of a great many potential allies, it could only be hoped that the party had arrived here soon enough to prevent such a fate befalling Alamut.

"With any luck, our current mission might shed some light on how to put a stop to this problem for good. Are any other groups operating like we are, going about and trying to stop this? Or is it just us?"

Past Events: Vadania knows of a second group - Eldon and Altar, who were working with Lynette who you met at the palace and her sister Xana. The two groups had been working together until a disagreement in the Steadlands to the west split them up.
Eldon and Altar had continued eastwards towards the capitol of the Empire just a few days prior to Vadanias initial arrival here while Lynette remained. Xanas current whereabouts are unclear.
The party also has allies further afield though many lack the strength to aid directly in these conflicts. Morianas half-brother Berith is perhaps the strongest of these but was last known to be travelling south to the lands of Merebas seeking aid from the templar knights.

The walk back to the palace is a solemn one, the path ahead for the party clear but the danger unknown. It feels like a trap but at the same time there seems little doubt that one of the demons allies lurks beyond the portal.
(the party can advance immediately, rest, or make any other preparations they wish - or else abandon Alamut to its fate and flee the city)

We're definitely not leaving.
As for preparation, Brenner can give the party Conviction, Mass in order to grant a morale bonus on saves for about an hour and a half. Anyone else got any long-duration buffs?

Vadania has endure elements and Protection from Energy that would last about an hour. Tommorow morning she could also have Barkskin to boost AC for about an hour.
I was thinking it would be good to wait till morning before we go in. That way we'll be fresh, and we can pick spells for handling the unknown instead of desert traveling.

There is an air of suspense as the party returns, freshly armed. The Prince and his men have been busy readying food, potions, scrolls, and what little information they have recieved from those who returned in the form of maps.
The dragon has contented itself near the corner of the room eating meat brought to it by the palace staff while Lynette watches over it. The time has come to decide whether to leave now or prepare more potent spells for the task ahead.

Brenner's current set should be fine to head out. I'll leave it up to the other party members.

Vadania spells were focused for traveling with a large group, keeping them alive, and keeping the Khan from finding our trail. She has probably already used all her cantrip's and 1st level spells today from when we were traveling.
How about our wizard NPC?
