Chapters:
Each Deathwatch marine has one Chapter of origin, chosen at character creation. These determine what bonus skills and talents are available above and beyond those of the characters speciality, as well as access to unique psychic powers and wargear.
Chapter abilities can provide access to skills not normally associated with a characters speciality - for example all Iron Hands and Salamanders characters gain tech use skills even if they are not a techmarine.
Black Templars - Cannot be librarian or devastator. Strong anti-daemon/psyker abilities
Blood Angels - Improved close combat abilities.
Dark Angels - Accurate firepower and superior wargear
Space Wolves - Cannot be apothecary. Skilled tracking and access to the 'wolf scout' tactical marine variant.
Storm Wardens - Skilled tracking with mixed offensive and defensive bonuses.
Ultramarines - Enhanced command and superior wargear. Access to the Tyrannic War Veteran anti-horde advances.
Imperial Fists - Siege warfare masters, enhanced cover benefits
Iron Hands - Increased durability and tech use
Raven Guard - Exceptional stealth
Salamanders - Improved wargear and use of heavy melee weapons
White Scars - Quick moving with starting access to their unique power lance
Blood Ravens - Potent squad-boosting psychic powers (as a librarian only)
Red Scorpions - Protected from corruption (particularly as an apothecary) and psychic powers.
Flesh Tearers - Potent anti-horde melee
Crimson Fists - Strong willpower
Howling Griffons - Swordmasters
Novamarines - Talented specialists with effective tactically flexible psychic powers
Raptors - Multi-talented melee, stealth, and sniping
Carcharodons - Brute force combat and ambush specialists
