I’ve recently been reading the Da Vinci Code and have been thinking about the nature of some of the ideas and descriptions of the iconography within the book. I thought it could be interesting to start a thread with this in mind. But to start out I would like to make a statement. We are all adults here (or at least should act like it) and we are all free willed to have are own thoughts and opinions. This is not a discussion to talk about what is right or wrong but merely a question session in practicing the Socratic method of philosophy. So be excellent to each other and expand you ability to question the world around us
So to start I like the ideas presented in the book about the battle of symbology between Christianity and Paganism. As I look more into it I can see where many of the parallels can be made and where the old symbols of gods were twisted into ‘evil’. The transformation of the ram god of fertility into the demonic symbol of Satin, the transformation of the woman as the spring of all life to the rib of Adam being used to create Eve. Any others have any ideas or thoughts? It is a good book and one than any person with religious background should take the time to read.
