My players are: theUdjat: CaelithFangor: Krysta, w/ AdeliaVemu: Romar, w/ HunaRojito: Girud, w/ AltonKMan: MalanuusI have decided placement on the map based on the order of your arrival on the last thread. Each of you got a d4 for placement, one for each platform in a cardinal direction of the arena. KMan got a d8 for placement, one for each wall of the arena. You'll see where ths dice chose for each of you in just a moment. Feel free to roll your own dice, if you do not roll them I will. Very important: POST IN THE ORDER OF INITIATIVE!! This way each person can react to the actions that have come before. As always we ask for your honesty, please no editing posts after someone else has posted. Let's keep the metagaming down to a minimum, and try to have some fun!
Through some miracle of time and space the once heroes of Ravenshead find themselves waiting on wooden platforms set within the earth. There is to be a combat today, where only one can stand victorious. Friendships that existed before are postponed, and alliances have all but run out. With a click of gears stady as your heartbeat you rise as one, each platform carrying their combatants up into the arena air. There is a hush of expectation as the crowd find their favorites, randomly placed around the arena; then the crowd explodes in cries of glory for their chosen fighter. Each looks to the left or right for signs of a foe, but the cleverly designed arena gives you no hints to the location of your foes. You wait expectantly a moment more as you wait for the gong indicating you should begin. Then unexpecedly there is a bellow from a large pair of lungs as the tearing sound of wood splits through the crowd. They pause, uncertain what the change in schedule could suggest. A cloud of dust rises from where a sundered door hit the arena floor, providing a glimpse of the creature that has forced his way into the arena. It is a Minotaur, and it seems apparent that the crowd knows his name as they begin chanting it. MALANUUS! MALANUUS! MALANUUS! MALANUUS!This day just got a little more complicated. GONG! _______________________ /-----------------------\ /-------------------------\ /------------aGG------------\ /--------------GG-------------\ /-------------------------------\ /---------------------------------\ /-----------------------------------\ /-------------------------------------\ /----------[=]-------------[=]----------\ /-----------------------------------------\ |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| ==|-----------------------------------------| MM------------------[===]------------------| MM----HH------------[===]-------------C----| |----R-------------[===]------------------| ==|-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| |-----------------------------------------| \-----------------------------------------/ \----------[=]-------------[=]----------/ \-------------------------------------/ \-----------------------------------/ \---------------------------------/ \-------------------------------/ \-----------------------------/ \------------KA-------------/ \-------------------------/ \-----------------------/ \_____________________/

Krysta knows this arena well. Her visions flash of a bright explosion, then nothing...
She turns, finding that she is not alone this time. Adelia is here, by her side as usual. This would be a good battle. It was time to find her nemisis...
She starts to move, but Adelia's look alerts her to her rash decision. Instead, she scans the area, trying to spot her foe. Little did she know that there were more than one foe here...
Ready action to draw bow and shoot first person that threatens her with magic, or coming at her to attack. If they ignore her and go elsewhere, then she will not shoot them.
First, before she shoots, she nods her head in acknowledgement of their bravery to enter the arena with her.

((You guys are gonna hate me.)) A wizard, even an evoker with a penchant for rapiers, loathes to be unprepared. Caelith, a strategist at heart, is no exception to this rule. He's been through battles - large, massive battles - but this is no different. Whether one opponent or one thousand invisible trolls, there's no sense being unprepared, off-guard.
Especially with that roar he heard from across the arena. That, Caelith decides, is not something he wants to trifle with recklessly.
Caelith turns his mind to the magic, feeling it course and thrum in his veins. The spell he desires springs to the forefront of his brain, then out through his mouth and his fingertips, tingling as he channels it into existence.
A rope, quickly withdrawn from his things, rises steadily into the air, held aloft by something unseen. When it is straight, hanging but an inch off the ground, Caelith smiles and begins to climb.((Cast Rope Trick. Spellcraft DC 17 if anybody within hearing wants to try and identify it. As it requires a rope, I wasn't sure whether I'd need a move action to withdraw it or not. Caelith does have Quick Draw, but I don't know if that'd apply to anything beyond weapons. So, if he still has a move action, he'll climb up into the Rope Trick. If not, he'll just stand there ))

Malanuus takes a deep breath. The smells of battle fills his nostrils, the roar of the crowd fills his ears. This was home, this was were he belonged. Eyes snap open and settle on the first target that would succumb to his power... In the few seconds between his thumping heartbeats, Malanuus sizes up the closest enemies. Human. Medium-framed. Machine. Heavy. Powerful and shaped like a horse. Normally this would be his choice target... But no horse would ever move without its master. With a roar, Malanuus charges and unslings Skullsplitter in one fluid move. Like a tidal wave breaking on the shore, he crashes into the human and swings with all his might. He swings low over the horse's back, hoping to knock the human South and away from his mount.

Ref save (maybe I'll get a natural 20): [dice=20]+9=28 (almost...) Romar, flying through the air before he could even begin to prepare himself for battle, is knocked far away from his mount. Str check for bull rush: [dice=20]+3=11, so I'll fly 30 ft., not hitting the wall. He crashes upon the dusty floor and is sent sliding for a few more feet before coming to a standstill. His mouth full of mixed blood and sand, he slowly raises his face from the floor to look around. When he draws himself up again and turns to see what exactly had hit him, he knows that if this minotaur is not stopped instantly, he will charge again and again and this fight would be over quickly. He also saw Krysta and Adelia (I assume), but for now he could not focus on them. Aching all over, Romar looks up to the sky. "Fahrlanghn, guide my path!" His arms now reach out toward the minotaur, as if grabbing him from a distance with magical power. The magical energy reaches the minotaur, causing it to feel a power trying to immobilize it. If not with muscle, then with force of will would he try to beat this monster. Stand up from prone, then cast Hold Person Will save DC14 at minotaur. I assume I can't command Húna to attack him? If I can, I will, with breath weapon.
Breath Weapon (Su): Due to Húna’s unique make-up, she can expel her waste gases in the form of a breath weapon up to 3/day. The gases are expelled in a 20-foot cone cloud lasting one round. Initial Damage 1d4 CON, secondary damage 3d4 CON, Fortitude DC 19 negates. Once a creature successfully saves against the breath weapon, they cannot be affected by it again in a 24 hour period. If she does not use this ability, the gases are considered expelled at a harmless rate through osmosis.
I feel like Maximus in Gladiator during the fight with the tigers. This fight wasn't meant to be won by me, but I will win it. [rand=938551976831791869154608910499897702029364654957141257705185962]

OOC: Ok my turn and here it goes... wait gotta get character sheets up and ready... ok
Alton draws his Small Mighty (+1) Composite Shortbow of Bane against Undead and rushes straight foward (south) 30 ft, and makes a spot check.
Depending on what i can see shows what i shoot.
Ranged +10/+5 (BaB 6/1 + 4 Dex) +1 to attacks and damage within 30 ft)
+2d6 Skirmish damage if move more than 10 feet. Only applies to ranged attacks within 30 feet.
if I can see Malanuus I shoot him
If I cannot see Malanuus but i see Caelith I shoot him
If I cannot see either of the first two, but I see Romar, I shoot him
If I cannot see any of the others, but i see Huna, i shoot the horse.
OOC: ok wow not much done, but alot of options. Now as Girud!
Whoever Alton shoots at I move toward them drawing my weapon, setting up for a charge (there is no way for me to move that far is there?) makeing a spot check as well.
Weapon: {+1 Axiomatic Greatsword attack, two handed: +17/+12 to hit (+9/+4 BaB, +6 Str, +1 feat, +1 weapon) 2d6+12 dmg (+9 str, +2 feat, +1 weapon) Crit 19-20x2.} {extra 2d6 damage to chaotic creatures, bypasses lawful creature's damage reduction}

Stand up from prone, then cast Hold Person Will save DC14 at minotaur. I assume I can't command Húna to attack him? If I can, I will, with breath weapon.{As Huna is your animal companion you can Handle Animal her/it DC 10 as a free action. You have a +15 to checks concerning your companion so it automatically succeeds.} {Kman add the fort save from the cloud while you're saving from the hold person (you are monstrous humanoid) so it applies.} See below post for clarification on this point.

Adelia's turn...
Adelia hears the roar from the left, something like a monster. Since Romar was knocked 30 feet south, Adelia will surely see him hit the ground, coughing up blood. Something worse than the traitor? That can't be!!
She manifests her senses to react, but knows that Krysta and her work better as a team. Their threat is real. Romar will be the first to go. She lets Krysta be the one to deal the blow, as her course of actions were set long ago, when she pledged her allegiance to Krysta. She would ensure Krysta stays in this battle...
Casting Shield Other on Krysta, then drawing a potion to have in hand..
OOC - Japic, do you want to update this battle for the round, then let me post, or would you rather I post Adelia's then Krysta's actions from now on, since they are after one another? [rand=449140030762290149708082926973467997868891147108537928957760856313]

OOC - Japic, do you want to update this battle for the round, then let me post, or would you rather I post Adelia's then Krysta's actions from now on, since they are after one another? If Krysta delayed till Adelia's turn then the initiative order will change after she acts. Post them in order and I'll update the order after this round is completed. Also, I made a mistake regarding the Hold Person spell. The spell descriptions says the target is one Humanoid, Minotaurs are Monstrous Humanoids an entirely separate creature Type as defined by the SRD. The spell will not effect a minotaur. Sorry for the mixup. Also, in answer to rojito's post about who can see what and where. You can see anything you have a line of sight to. You don't need spot checks unless they're hiding or invisible or such. Please choose an action based off movement and your line of sight. I won't choose it for you, you have fer too many options.

the problem with that is i dont know how large the arena is, so i dont know how far i move so i dont know what my line of sight is, if every - is 5 feet then ok kewl, but if it is 10 feet i might start running into problems.

Matrox leans back on his seat and chuckles. The minotaur was impressive. He hoped this would continue as he had 50gp on it at odds of 6/1. Too good to pass up. Leaning forward, he notes Romar casting a spell at the minotaur...Hold Person? On a Minotaur? Surely that requires Hold Monster? Matrox thinks to himself.

Hardly considered that. Can I still alter my action into a sanctuary spell or am I too late and my spell will fail since Fangor and Rojito have posted? Sorry Vemu, I'm going to have to let this one stand. Lets chalk it up to you getting knocked thirty feet through the air by a nasty looking humaniod with horns. If you made the mistake twice in a battle I might consider it. OOC - Would Romar take falling damage from falling off his mount? He was never on his horse. Everyone started on level ground with no advantage over another. He just got screwed by KMan's placement dice. If we've all posted I'll be continuing this tomorrow.

ok then Alton will shoot the largest target he sees (asides from Girud ) the Minotaur, he seems formidable ,seeings romar is no where near his precious Nuna. thus the Half-Giant rushes toward them as well.

{Thanks everyone, I'll try to resolve all this properly, if I've missed something please let me know.} Thinking quickly about the as of yet unseen foes Krysta stands readied she waits for someone to attack her with magical or mundane means. Caelith smiles as he pulls a rope from within his backpack. With a few curt gestures and powerful words the rope rises into the air above the arena, fastening itsself in the open air. Seeing the fleshy man next to his metal horse Malanuus wastes no time in bearing down on him. (25 vs ac 16) The mighty blow sends the unsuspecting Romar sprawling, blood and sand mixed in his mouth (37 damage). Romar picks himself up from the arena floor calling to his patron Diety for assistance, "Fahrlanghn, guide my path!" He then attempts to hold the Minotaur in his tracks, via divine itervention ( Hold Person). Unfortunately the spell does not have any sway over the hulking mass of muscle (not Humanoid type). He also calls a few words to his faithful steed Huna and she whirls about to face the creature at her flank. Expelling the gasses held at pressure within her Malanuus is bathed in a cloud of noxious fumes. (Fort save DC 19) [dice=20](13)+11= 24 save The cloud does not seem to have any effect on the Minotaur, though the gas causes him some discomfort. Moving quickly forward, the Halfling Alton draws his bow and sets sights on the largest enemy he can find, the Minotaur. (30 feet forward, attack) [dice=20](12)+11-4(cover)=19 [dice=6](5)+1=6 dam (19 vs ac 16) Though the metal horse is partially between the pair Alton's arrow flies true, striking the minotaur in his shoulder (6 damage). Girud follows his small friend into the sand, maneuvering himself into a clear charging position against the Minotaur (double move, let me know if you want to be closer, that is 40' of 60'). Coming at last to the healer Adelia she casts a spell on her companion ( Shield Other). She then withdraws a potion, so that it is ready to use (you may want to tell me which one Fangor). (Remember that Adelia and Krysta need to remain within 45 feet of one another or the spell ends.)

Taking no chances, Krysta lets loose with two arrows, intent on taking Romar the traitor out of this fight. Not wanting to alert anything else in this arena, she lets her arrows fly without calling out.
