Alright, I know some people are antsy to get this going, so let's begin!
This thread serves as creation guidelines and an open call for players.
Character Creation Guidelines for Go Find Your Dead
So that's the normal stuff, here's some special rules everyone must follow.
SEA GREEN or DARK RED
The choice you select will determine many things;
If too many players pick the same color, I will default them to the secondary color. First come first served on this selection. I'm looking for 4 players on each team, more or less would be fine too. I won't say what color means what, but selecting a color is mandatory and has significant consequences, so choose wisely...
So that's about it. Just a few other things to note about this game so it's all clear up front.
So, I am accepting Player/Character submissions via PM now, the call will end on Wednesday May 30th and the game should* begin June 4th.
Questions related to creation but not discussing PCs can be posted here.
INFORMATION BELOW WAS ADDED 05/30/2007
Alright, the call is now closed. I've got nine players on two teams. Those players are:
DARK RED
SEA GREEN
If I missed someone, speak up now.
Now that we have our teams (oddly enough, enough people picked opposite colors for me to not have to divide), we can get started on creation.
DARK RED
Those of you on the Dark Red team hail from the small nation of Tertia, a poor nation and a nation in war. You are currently in the struggle of your lives against the barbarian hordes of Yexuhl. Your small and once peaceful nation has been thrust violently into the war...and it has been going very poorly thus far. Due to losses and constant struggle, every able-bodied person must serve in the army to defend the homeland. You have all been through basic training, and as such have gained many benefits, but it seems to matter little. Your nation is still on the losing side of this violent war.
That was, until a week ago. A young Sergeant returned victoriously from the battle of Rose Canyon--a battle Tertia should not have won--with a strange and mysterious artifact....
{More to come in your background post when the campaign begins.}
Those from Tertia have the following character building guidelines.
SEA GREEN
Those of you on the Sea Green team hail from the large and prosperous city of New Ravenshead. It is the center of the new era of peace, a model city of magic, diplomacy and wealth--though it is not without its shady alleys and corrupt politicians. Nearly everyone in New Ravenshead is educated, thanks largely to the free Mordrock University. Peace has reigned in New Ravenshead for as long as even the Elven sages can remember, but news of a war in a distant land begins to spread like wildfire through the city quickly...

Character Creation Guidelines for Go Find Your Dead
- 38 Point Buy {Details on how Point Buy works can be found here}
- Characters will begin at 3rd level
- Beginning wealth will be determined by color choice (see below).
- Races allowed: Human, Half-Orc, Halfling, Gnome, Elf, Half-Elf, Dwarf {Variations are allowed within these sub-sets from suplemental materials i.e. Whisper Gnome, Gold Dwarf etc}
- Classes allowed: Any non-Psionic class with a 1st-20th level progression is allowed from any supplement produced by WotC. This includes Eberron, Forgotten Realms etc. For instance, the Knight Class out of the PHB II is allowed but you cannot start as a prestige class of any kind.
- Magic Items, spells and materials out of supplemental WotC material are allowed provided that the player post the full description from the text for the GM (me). I hate having to lug ten books to work for rules, so help me out here people.
- Good or Neutral-aligned PCs only
So that's the normal stuff, here's some special rules everyone must follow.
- There will be no collaboration between players on creation of characters!! I cannot stress this enough. If you want to play in this game, send me a PM with a rough idea of your PC and that will secure your place. You can build your PC to detail after that. {Rough Detail = Male Dwarf Fighter, Female Human Mage etc}
- When you send the PM to me of your rough detail, include one of the following choices:
SEA GREEN or DARK RED
The choice you select will determine many things;
- Starting Wealth and Availability of Items at creation
- Starting Geographic Region and Goal
- Additional Skill bonuses and Feats
If too many players pick the same color, I will default them to the secondary color. First come first served on this selection. I'm looking for 4 players on each team, more or less would be fine too. I won't say what color means what, but selecting a color is mandatory and has significant consequences, so choose wisely...
So that's about it. Just a few other things to note about this game so it's all clear up front.
- This game will be role-playing heavy. I don't anticipate many battles, but those that do come along will be simple and epic. No fancy rules mumbo-jumbo or tactics, just warfare on a large scale. So if combat and tactics are what drive you to play, I'd suggest finding another game. I'm looking for deep, thoughtful posts and player-generated plot twists.
- As in the first game, 'Bring Out Your Dead', the CR, treasure and ECL stuff will be thrown out the window (figuratively of course). Don't be surprised to see epic creatures make appearances, but also don't be afraid. I'm not out to kill, but to make PCs out-think the enemy rather than brute combat. Also, I want progression to be fast so I will most likely advance players 2 levels when they accomplish a major goal--like finding one of Romar's bones. It will be at my discretion and it will be out of synch with "how it should be in the books".
- Lastly, as I've said before, it is a player-driven campaign. If you don't the way something is run, voice it. If you want to go on your own path, do it! We're all here to have a good time, let's keep it that way.
So, I am accepting Player/Character submissions via PM now, the call will end on Wednesday May 30th and the game should* begin June 4th.
