Greater Kyber shards are covered in Magic of Eberron. Suffice to say, getting one of the bigger ones is difficult, to say the least. You have to delve deep into Kyber, avoid the monsters
Also, to fly an airship, you need someone who can command the elemental, in addition to having someone with Profession (Sailor). This can be accomplished several ways.
A. A Half-elf w/ the Mark of Storm and a Wheel of Wind and Water. B. Make and keep the elemental Helpful, via skills. C. Charm Monster, or Dominate Monster D. Cleric with the appropriate Elemental Domain rebuking/controlling the Elemental.
So, yeah, that's why House Lyrandar has a monopoly on airship travel.

Hmm ... might have to rethink what I'm going to play. In a Table Top game, friend of mine qualified for Windwright Captain via Duskblade (From PHB II). He was the mosk kickass character in a game that included a Cleric on a Raptor, A Kalashar seer, a Human Warblade, and A half-elven Bard/Wizard/Master Inquistive/Loremaster.

Well if Jolith doesn't want to play a Captain i was thinking of dropping the warforged build to make a psionic half-elf into the prestige...

I wouldn't mind being a psionic half-elf if jolith and rojito want to keep their characters. I usually just wait until most of the players have already come up with a concept and then I try to build a character that the party doesn't have or one they need. And besides, I've always had a soft spot for psionics... just ask Arclite...
It's totally up to you guys. Whichever route you all want to take...

I'm probably going to stick with the Human Swordsage. So that's between you two. Though it would be cool to have that ship (and be a lot cheaper if we get it for free).

Well i was also thinkin that this would be an amazing area to play around with the Dread Pirate Prestige... or the Thrall Mind for the crew... I wanna play something that normally i cant play. Psionics are normally limited, and there are so few High Seas (Air?) campaigns to have the pirate... hmm Warforged pirate? lol if u wanna try for the captain go ahead i am not sure what i want to do here...

Yes, bring psionics into the game! Give me a reason to bring in my favorite BBEGS, the Inspired!

Alrighty. If every one's okay with it, I'll be a Half-Elf Bard! Now I just need to build on that...

Alrighty. If every one's okay with it, I'll be a Half-Elf Bard! Now I just need to build on that... A couple of things to remember- Half-Elf of Eberron, the Khoravar, are their own distinct race, possessing their own racial identity. Most are born to two half-elven parents, rather than the union of an Elf and a Human. Bards in Eberron aren't wandering ministerial, or street performers. Instead, some use their magic to unearth anceint lore, while others use their interpersonal skills to advance themselfs as spies, ambassadors, diplomats, and chroniclers. Special Class Features Half-Elven Bards can Give up their countersong abilities to instead gain the ability to Calm Emotions with a perform check. Bards in Eberron have access to special bardic music feats that lets them tap into magic via music. You can take thies feats anytime you you would normally gain a feat, or get one instead of gaining a new style of bardic music.

I might be switching to Beguiler, but probably with some similar character themes. Not sure.

How did I miss this?! Has anyone dropped? Can I submit an alternate? (Probably Dragon Shaman to help the party cleric with healing. 8 PCs is a lot.)

I'd be willing to take one more person, but you'd have to work out how you know the group pretty quick. ( And what a Seren Shaman is doing in Sharn)
