Yeah the qualifications such as access and so on will be reflected in his/her background. I just meant that the character should have skills reflective of his/her handling of technology. Because it would be rather silly to have someone who is a complete luddite trying to operate a battle suit.
And I'm all for limitations/flaws, it makes a character more interesting, all the better if it makes certain things stronger than others. If you want an idea for limitations, think of this person's battles suit as First generation Technology, its going to have some flaws in the works that will hopefully be tinkered out in later generations, but right now its all he has too work with. (We are thinking like a Prototype battle suit)

There's a marked difference between having the skills to reflect knowledge (easy to incorporate) and needing the skills to make the suit function, in terms of game mechanics. Easy to put in there, though--but sooner or later you will fail a roll, so bear that in mind. If you put 'Check Required' on something like flight, you'd have to test it every round, potentially falling out of the sky.
Although, that could be kind of hilarious, so keep it if you like.
I can definitely insert some malfunction-worthy stuff. Hehehe. Already getting some ideas.

Go for it, Checks required for things that seem reasonable, Pilot for flight, Computer use for super senses (considering it would be through the suits computers), Same with communications, that sort of thing (doesnt have to have those skills though). I would like to see the sort of thing this could draw out, I have no problem playing with flaws.

Oh, man, that'd be pretty hilarious. Adelle's such a liability for you technical folks.

The need for qualifications, as it were, fell into two realms: One, the premise that Yakumo's character would build the suit himself. We can ignore this, as this will not be the case for the character. Two, Yeah the qualifications such as access and so on will be reflected in his/her background. I just meant that the character should have skills reflective of his/her handling of technology. Because it would be rather silly to have someone who is a complete luddite trying to operate a battle suit. Without revealing too much about the character here (as I'd like to reveal this as the story progresses), the skills set for the character should be something congruent with a technology/mechanic/engineering saavy character. As the suit will not technically 'belong' to the character, and as Yakumo noted above, "...it would be rather silly to have someone who is a complete luddite trying to operate a battle suit." The character needs to display some desireable skill set that would (even in a loose association) qualify the character to operate the suit. If you want to go as far as required operations checks for utilizing the suit (pilot checks and whatnot), be my guest (as Yakumo noted, it would make for some interesting circumstances). But by no means is something so drastic required. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but the necessity for skill checks of this sort can be bought off with future Power Points.

I understand better now, thank you. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but the necessity for skill checks of this sort can be bought off with future Power Points. Anything can be bought off, if it's okay with you the GM. But it'd be costly, depending on the power. Probably very easy for something like Flight 2 (probably about as fast as his suit will ever need to go). The 'Check Required' would be a -1 flaw, making it cost exactly 2 pp less. He could later spend 2 pp to fix it. But the bigger the power, the more costly it becomes to buy it off.

You dont know that I'll never need to fly at hundreds of miles an hour. Missles are launched at picnic-ers every day

Actually, I was thinking of not giving you Flight at all--just huge ranks of Leaping for Jump Jets. Thought that'd be more interesting. But I think ultimately what I present you will come down to a whole bunch of options for the suit, because there's literally tons of ways you can go about it. ...Actually, that gives me an idea...

I somehow managed to overlook this thread entirely. If you ever have an opening I'd be very happy if you think of me. I wanted to join Orange Glow, but KMan told me he was going to discontinue the game.

Let me know Udjat (or deekin if you are doing one) if there is anything else I can help you out with. I guess Bad* wants to keep some stuff from you, which makes sense as the guy has a Secret Identity. Looking forward to seeing what you come out with. (Also since you mentioned a Jump pack, all I can think of is the old Rocketeer movie for the character. hahaha)

I can't believe how easy Battlesuits are to make. I think my next char will be one. I think you're gonna dig some of the options on the write-up. Should have something for you soonish (but prolly not tonight).

Ooh, Ooh! Can Piranjade join? I'm sure we can work something out, Piranjade. If you're not familiar with the system, we can assist you. Feel free to initiate discussion on character ideas/concepts! Sure, but you get to be the keyboardist. ;D

Thank you! I don't have the books and have never played the system, but a friend of mine has them (although I don't know if they are 1st or 2nd edition) and he told me a little bit about them. I'll see if I can meet up with him this week and start reading. Concerning a possible character, I was always fascinated with characters who look physically different and if it doesn't sound too crazy, how about a small, sky-blue-skinned, three-tailed, gun loving hermaphrodite? I'd like the tails functional and maybe even be able to grab and shoot guns with them. And the dimensional pocket mentioned before would be cool to store the guns. Being able to walk on walls would be fun, too. If that all sounds too crazy I'll come up with a more "normal" hero concept.

The character concept sounds interesting, Piranjade, and is definately doable. If you need assistance with character creation, we can help.
Also, I'll be PMing you with some ideas on how I'll be working your character into the game.
Welcome to Age of Heroes!

M&M isn't a great system for multiple attacks in general, but I think something can be worked out. I'm in the middle of battlesuit construction at the moment--and it sounds like you might be able to manage on your own--but I can help out more later, if you like. Deekin is also available, and savvy with the system (probably more than me). Oh yeah, and welcome!

A miniature...blue-skinned...three tailed..gun-loving...hermaphrodite? I mean what with being Tiny, Blue and having multiple tails, don't you think Hermaphrodite is just superfluous at that point?

I have never played this system before or build a character with it, so I'll surely need some help. I have a core book here now and will try to do some stuff on my own and then come back to you. ...and isn't being a hermaphrodite always "superfluous" in one way or the other?
