Thank you! I don't have the books and have never played the system, but a friend of mine has them (although I don't know if they are 1st or 2nd edition) and he told me a little bit about them. I'll see if I can meet up with him this week and start reading. Concerning a possible character, I was always fascinated with characters who look physically different and if it doesn't sound too crazy, how about a small, sky-blue-skinned, three-tailed, gun loving hermaphrodite? I'd like the tails functional and maybe even be able to grab and shoot guns with them. And the dimensional pocket mentioned before would be cool to store the guns. Being able to walk on walls would be fun, too. If that all sounds too crazy I'll come up with a more "normal" hero concept. Considering you have the book, I'll just give some suggestions. 1. Use This excell sheet. It makes keeping track of stuff so much easier. 2. Small sized- Innate, Continuous, Permanent shrinking. 3. Tail that can grab stuff. Innate ADDITIONAL LIMBS. Costs 2 Points 4. Wall crawling is a just a supermovement.

Can't wait to see what you got for me Udjat. Once that is settled I'll be able to do a complete Fleshing out of the background and send it over to Bad* and from there Get the Okay to post it up.

I'm quite close to what I had in mind I think. Strangely enough I still have points left on my paper notes, but the excel sheet tells me that I have spend 113... And still I haven't found out where to put my small size there. Or why I cannot activate makros. Maybe I'm just too tired. I'll figure it out tomorrow and go to bed now.

Managed to spend 105 points. The character somehow came out as a strange mix of the Weapon Master and Spiderman. Now I'll just need to buy my Equipment and post then. I have three questions:
1. On page 137, Melee weapons, Damage Bonus, it says "Each point of damage bonus costs 1 point". So I could spend one equipment point more on my sword and it would then have an damage bonus of +4 instead of +3?
2. How did Jane's Defense get so high? The trade-off with toughness would give her +4 resulting in 11 defense, or not?
3. Is there a way to make multiple attacks possible in this system?

And here I am poking around on Yakumo's (almost done, I swear!) Bad* has the final say, but I don't see why not. Equipment is built similarly to powers, but using Equipment points instead of power points (they're assumed to be fairly expendable). As long as there's nothing that would qualify as an 'Extra' on the sword, one point should suffice. You're just reading it wrong. Defense is 10+Def Bonus+Circumstantial modifiers. I just listed the total instead of her modifier, which is +7 (normally) or +2 (if flatfooted). Though come to think of it, it would be smart to lower her Defense by 1 (to +4) and raise her Dodge Bonus by 2 (giving her +8 when aware), which would cost the same and take advantage of the trade-off, and still give her Defense +2 when flatfooted. Maybe Bad* will be kind and allow that. There's Autofire, Split Ray, and various Area attacks. A variant on Area attacks lets you make an attack roll against everyone in the area instead of giving everyone in the area a Reflex save. This would be a way of suggesting that the character attacks everyone in the area super-fast or something, if you wanted to go that route. Excepting Autofire, that's all fairly difficult to do with Equipment instead of powers--or at least I'm not familiar with the way to do it in the system. Using a Device instead of Equipment would probably work (but is about 3x as expensive) Those are the best methods I know of.

Thanx for the answers! I have to admit that I just cross-read the book quickly and even that only in parts, focusing on being able to build a character, because I want to join as fast as I can. So far I didn't even look at the combat chapter or any other mechanics. I was considering using device to build my own gun, but it would cost so many points that I decided to live with what the equipment list has to offer. I already had to scrap the Improved Critical and it feels like having too little points for all the cool stuff offered in the book. My friend told me that he wants his book back soon, because seeing me being excited he decided to start an M&M group. When that happens you'll have to help me a lot with the mechanics I fear.

I don't know what happened, suddenly it looks like I only spent 100 points in total when I put it all together. I try to find out what I forgot before I post the character. And again a question: Can I have an attack bonus greater then 7 (PL of the campaign) when using feats like Attack Specialization or Attack Focus? A look at the Weapon Master on p.23 made me think so. Now I'll buy my equipment. Shopping! Yay!

Now I'll buy my equipment. Shopping! Yay! I think the Weapon Master has lower Damage for his attacks, hence allowing him to tradeoff for a higher attack bonus. I'd have to look. I'll check out the character and offer feedback, if I have any. Welcome to the game! (Yakumo, I just finished your character--or at least my version of him. I'll write him up and PM soon)

As Age of Heroes has been moved from a short to an ongoing, I'm re-opening recruitment. I have transposed the OP to give a quick overview of the campaign. As always, please don't let lack of rule availability or knowledge to dissuade you. We will gladly work with you on character builds and such. Without further adieu... AoH. _______________________________________ The not too distant future… The last decade has seen irrevocable change- some call it destiny while others call it evolution. Whatever label, the course of future history has been undeniably altered. Laws and understanding that have reigned for a thousand years have yielded to men who can fly, who cannot be harmed by bullets, who can lift busses, trains and airplanes. People with abilities once found only in the imagination of science fiction and fantasy walk the streets- some benevolent, others seeking their own ends. It is a time of dastardly deeds, diabolical schemes and vile machinations foiled by citizens of moral fortitude and righteous might who stand in defense of the masses caught in the fallout. Welcome to the Age of Heroes. Age of Heroes is a Mutants and Masterminds (2e) game set in Freedom City. However, heroes and villains have only been battling for just over a decade (there is no/very little historical establishment), so PCs will be entering the game as the newer generation of defenders of the common good. Age of Heroes will be a more modern version of four-color play meshed with elements of grim-and-gritty realism. The game will begin as a ‘short’ campaign. After the ‘short’, if time is available and players are interested, Age of Heroes could become a full-fledged campaign (as is happening now ;D). Think of this as a comic book mini-series that could become a regular monthly series (including the possible addition of more players). Characters will start at PL 7 (with a maximum of 75 PPs spent on powers). I’m looking for more players, any takers?

As you found out by my PM, I'm definitely interested in trying out the M&M game. I know the rules, but it's been a while since I made a character for the game. Also, with so many options, it may take a bit to get everything together. Hopefully I can get it done before you start the next leg of the adventure.
Anyways, count me as one more!
