Frightening images of dying of some horrible, flesh eating disease, or, maybe worse, turning into a rat ('isn't wer-ism contagious?') run through Doran's head, but he will try to maintain the tough-guy stoicism. His bluff is pretty bad, so he's probably easy to see through.

Laira looks a little puzzled at Doran Insight [dice=20] +7=26 and then asks, "Doran is looking kind of funny. Whomever knows anything about stopping the spread of lycanthropy, I suggest you do it now." Knowledge of lycanthropy, werecreature disease, etc. [dice=20] (+8 if arcana, +3 if religion, +0 if dungeoneering or nature)=16 or 13 or 8[rand=936632366395131817683304500727093435165440202260833290666174409833]

Zynthis remembers hearing about a disease contracted from the bites of wererats. Called Filth Fever the disease isn't fatal, but debilitating. Those who don't throw it off can't ever heal from any injury (even magcally) and are left fragile and easy to injure. Like most diseases, it progresses over a period of days. A healer can often help in the recovery, but often is redundant in the case of tough fighters.
As for those bitten being turned into wererats themselves, Zynthis knows this to be a false legend. Lycanthropy is hereditary only. Zynthis himself has some werewolf blood running in his veins.
Filth Fever: Make endurance check after extended rest, may substitute healers heal check instead: 10 or less: Get worse 11-15: No improvement or deteriation 16 or more: Get better Stages are: cured; initial: loose 1 healing surge; -2 to all defenses; Final: -2 to all defenses, no healing surges, and can't regain hit points.

Since we can use heal checks for the disease track, we can keep Howahkan around until we either cure it or until the disease takes full effect. Zynthis will use Aid Another to help Howy with the heal check. Do you all want to take an extended rest now or wait until after the next combat?
"Those affected by this disease will need to rest for a good while. Then we healers will need to attend to them." Zyn says.

You can't take an extended rest yet, there are still sailers in need of rescue. The disease won't have any further effects until you stop for a rest, so that really isn't a factor.

"We can take a longer rest later, for now we can short break and heal our wounds." Zynthis continues from his last statement. After the break Zynthis gives Doran and Thursagan a Healing Word:
Doran's Heal: [dice=6] +3+7(surge)=16 healing
Thursagan's Heal: [dice=6] +3+7(surge)=16 healing[rand=445309115925539464056351635796716626917212800937635200122505536048]

Thanks! Did we reach another milestone? I was going to update the status of Thursagan and I am not sure if we will get an action point before jumping into action again

Doran- "Thanks, I think I needed that" Getting up to 25 HP is probably good enough -- don't want to through another surge at it now that I only have 2 left. Doran's Endurance check is +1, so any healing he can get would be a big plus.

Does anyone want to do anything during the short rests? Loot bodies, find treasure. Edit: Sorry for the short answer. It was just meant as a reminder because a couple of us had previously stated we were looking around on the last page.

Bharash searchs the shelves. Shelves often contain books and Bharash loves a good read.

The group rests for 10 minutes while being healed. Harknail helps Howy to a chair by the entrance and the two stand (and sit) guard there. Upon investigation, the pressure squares were the triggers for some kind of trap. The group can't determine exactly what form the trap could take, but the do figure out that the goblins disabled it permanently. The work by the goblins was what made the pressure plates so visible. The search for loot was more rewarding. They find a total of 14 beds, each with some kind of locked container. The keys for 7 of them are on the bodies, each of them contained some gold coins. Since none of those were trapped, the group either picked the locks or smashed open the remaining 7. The amounts in each chest varied, they recover a total of 280 GP. While the others were looking at traps, or stuff recently placed on the shelves. Bharash was looking further back on the shelves, where things were still dusty. He could see where the dust had been disturbed not too long ago, probably by the goblins conducting the same search. Bharash finds old dwarven clothing and tools, nothing of any value, until he finds a book tucked in a back corner. Handling the old book carefully, Bharash finds that it is a book of rituals. It will take him some time to learn the rituals contained on those brittle pages, but he can recognize the titles, Tensor's Floating Disk, Unseen Servant, and Endure Elements. Glancing at the spells, he sees that the Unseen Servant ritual requires a well made ceramic hand. Checking again, he finds such a hand near where he found the book of rituals. Finally rested and healed, the group is ready to head out again. Howy decides that he would be more of an encumbrance than a help in any fight, so he decides to stay here and wait for them to return. Zynthis had seen the transforming glow come from the nook and return to the nook. Between Laira and the rest of the group, they were sure that the rest of the complex had been cleared and that the moon mirror wasn't there. That left the two double doors. Doran quickly checked and determined that neither was locked. Opening the doors to the east first, they found an old store room. A quick search found ancient (and no longer edible) food stuffs, but nothing of interest. The doors to the north are more revealing, opening to reveal a 10 foot wide corridor. After 30 feet, the corridor turned right, narrowing down to only 5 foot wide. After another 60 feet, the narrow corridor ends with a door. OOC: I fast forwarded to the next door, but you can still expand upon your characters actions and/or comments during the rest and searching. Also, what do you want to do at this door?P.S. If Bharash hadn't been specifically looking for a book, he wouldn't have found one. But I thought that was a good idea and added one to be found

Pleased he took the time to search for books, Bharash stashes away his new prize intent to study it thoroughly once he has more time.
Thanks for the book H

Does Bharash mention that he found the book or hide it in his pack so the rest of us don't know about it?

Does the gold go to party treasure where it is split later?
Also, Zynthis would be good at the back of the marching order so as to protect the rear but he would be more than willing to be up front if asked. Although a half-crazed berserking cleric may be stumbling over everyone just to see some action. It's up to the group how they want to split the treasure. I'm keeping track of what all the treasure is, we can sort it out after the group gets back to town. Of course, it's quite reasonable for Zynthis to ask at this point

Zynthis asks the group as they reform after the search "If I am to be a member of this group, I'll expect to receive an equal share. So how we go about doing this?"

I will be on the road for three weeks, probably with Internet access but that is not sure. If I delay too much for the turns, please run them for me. Thanks!
