Still hammering out the kinks for an official send to Yogge, but my Tiefling Rogue/Paladin is shaping up nicely. Note that despite the Rogue levels I couldn't muster the skill points to adequately fuel Disable Device or Open Lock. He can still find traps like nobody's business, but circumventing them is another matter entirely. I recommend Knock spells or the ever-reliable Timber-rogue.

He can still find traps like nobody's business, but circumventing them is another matter entirely. My effigy has two unspecified 'feats' as a consequence of ramping the HD up on the base creature type from 9 to 15 - perhaps I can trade them in for the two dungeoncrasher 'feats' and get some terminator-style grappling and door opening shenanigans. A wand of knock is only 4500gp though - 50 charges should be more than enough for an adventure and UMD is a class skill for you. Failing that our monk should have good saves...

Decent saves... And improved Evasion... is 8 is a good ref save lol i dont have much dex ironically enough for the guy who always plays dex-based characters. Actually am thinking of another build i threw together awhile back, a Halfling Mounted Combat Specialist. Halfling cause they are like the only people who can get away with a mount in a building

Dungeoncrasher would be great, but I think we're too limited on our book selections to use it. Which is a shame. A wand of knock is probably a better call, maybe we can all pool a little money to afford one. UMD is a class skill and I could probably get it high enough to use it reliably (at the expense of some Spot/Listen/Diplomacy), but with two arcane casters who can use it automatically, there doesn't seem to be much point to it. Scrolls of Knock also go for 150/apiece, if we feel 50 charges is overkill. Even ten is probably more than enough (and at 1,500, a good third of the cost). I was also thinking of picking up an adamantine weapon which, though not at all subtle, could certainly break through walls if need be. Spell traps can be dispelled, pits circumvented, etc. We don't really need Disable Device. Roj - If you want to go over the build, we could figure out where the Ref trouble is coming from. I'm pretty surprised you can only bump it up to +8. It's favored for monks and you should probably have a decent Dex mod for the build (large characters being already easier to hit than normal). PM me if you want to go over it. And by the way, the Duelist is still available if you want to go that route. But yeah, I'd call +8 a 'decent' Reflex Save for our level, but not incredible or anything.

FYI, The adventure primarily takes place on a mountain. While there will be a handful of opportunities to use Disable Device and Open Lock, don't worry too much about it. I never make situations where, if you don't have the skill, you're completely stuck. You'll just have to be more ... inventive in how you handle the situations. However, with skills like Disable Device, I definitely reward creativity in its use.

Is there such a thing as a masterwork crowbar?

Is there such a thing as a masterwork crowbar? Personally I call it an Adamantine Axe. That'll open just about anything you need opened; from people to doors and locks.

hey guys, is there still space available in this adventure? if so i'd be very interested in playing Udjat's duelist character, but i think i have access to all the allowed books so i can whip one up in not too much time if needs be. it's been a while since i made a dnd character though so being handed one by someone in the know would be very helpful indeed

Spell query - 'if about to suffer damage that would reduce the character to negative hitpoints' - is this a valid trigger condition for contingency? (for the purposes of cowering within a resilient sphere spell rather than being vaporized by a dragon)

I don't think Contingency allows for pre-emptive conditions. In other words, the spell doesn't know that you're about to be hit by an effect that could knock you out. An acceptable way of doing it would be to prepare a False Life spell to activate when you are knocked into the negatives. The temporary hit points would bring you back from the brink.

I don't think Contingency allows for pre-emptive conditions. Makes sense - I was just figuring out if I need to set aside a slot for celerity or not. Good news in a way as i've no idea where i'd find the cash for the spell focus

Um, does anyone have a character ready for me to review? I haven't heard from anyone is two weeks ...

Um, does anyone have a character ready for me to review? I haven't heard from anyone is two weeks ... Might want to try prodding a few players via messages and setting a hard start date. I'm done mucking about with Tyvek, he can run as posted once I fill out his spell list, character fluff, and minor bits and pieces.

Thanks, that makes sense. My next days off are Saturday through Wednesday, and I'd really like to get the game started before I go back to work, so Wednesday will be the deadline for character submittal.
