Looking around at the rest of the group, then turning to Dart and sitting beside him
Would you have some pepper on you Dart? Whole pepper corns if possible.
Looking to Harknail
Any reason the drakes are plaguing the town? I can't see them suddenly attacking it for no reason, especially not after such a long time. Perhaps something drove them from their roosting grounds.

Harknail replied, "The farmer mentioneth not a reward. A town in danger be sufficient reason for a Paladin of Kord. The farmer knoweth not where the drakes cometh from or why they besiegeth his town."

"A reason for their appearance may be found in the town, we should not delay any longer than needed." Llewelyn then pauses for a moment. "Also, though unrelated, we spotted a stray dog nearby, not sure if it belonged to anyone or not."

[glow=green,2,300]Nature check to try to figure out what might cause these creatures to suddenly move forth, like what might be a natural predater to them, or what they might normally feed on that is no longer available around here. Or even if the weather has changed recently in any way that might cause them to change their normal habbits.
Nature +10 if you come up with anything.[/glow]

looking at the harknail, blastishy tries to communicate with him with his mind. A kind of test to see if harknail can hear him in this way and if harknail has his own mind with inside "I have heard of a flying Dragonborn city. I have been looking for it. It was said that it may have crashed around these parts. Could that have anything to do with it? "

Sure - what kind of pepper do you like? Pepper with salt, hot pepper with salt, or screaming pepper with salt? Of course I also have bleeding gut pepper - but even I’m not foolish enough to eat that. It’s a mild poison. The poison animals don’t like so it can be used to protect crops without lasting harm to the animals. My family uses it to ward off wild animals from our pepper gardens.
I'm also a paladin, but I don't work for nothing unless the need is great. It sounds to me at least that the drakes are the ones in danger. Not the farmers. Drakes are wild things and they need to be protected as national treasures - not eradicated out of fear. Just because a creature can kill you does not make that creature an enemy.
But we argue about this on the way. Next stop the sea?

Popol sits again to watch and listen to the others, content to let their talking distract him and occupy his mind.

Other than that it would most likely be some change in their natural habitat that's causing the sudden influx, either a scarcity of food or fleeing an increase in predators.

Harknail is startled for no apparent reason as he receives Blastishy's mental communication. He replies in kind "I think the Dragonborn empire be while I be buried. I know not of it."
"A paladin that only helps for pay", said Harknail incredulously. "Be thee a paladin of Tiamat? And why farmers may not be able to pay thee, animals surely will not."
OOC: Just to be clear, the comments above are Harknail's not mine. I have no problem with a mercenary paladin. Though his attitudes might make the first encounter interesting if he fights against the party or boring if he stands aside, his love of animals is very appropriate for the next two encounters.
OOC: We'll be having another player joining us. The Dragonborn Warlord is coming back.

I've updated all the characters on iPlay4e to the new character builder. This adds more information to the files so that iPlay4e can display power cards for most powers. It doesn't have info on your magic items though.
You can find the Moonhaven campaign here;
This lets you see the characters, but not their current status. For that you'll need to create a login ID for iPlay4e (actually a google account). You can also create an iPlay4e handle. Send either to me and I'll add you to the iPlay4e campaign. Then you'll be able to see character status (HP, conditions, powers used, etc.)

Barbatos scratched his head, Kord ... the barbarian god of brawling. The wizard recalled a painting of the god bedecked in the hide of dragons.
Still this town seemed like the best place to get food, coin, and shelter; if nothing else drake hide must be worth something. He made a mental note to stay a pace or two behind the automaton knowing that such creations, especially those blessed by a being such as Kord, might behave very differently should they identify a target.

So the dragon city was not well know as one would have hoped.yet there was still a slight grin on his face. the construct had its own mind and responded back through it. meaning he understood not only understood the question but in the manor of how it was asked.
"Firstly I will thank you for understanding the manor in witch i wish to speak and communicate. it means a lot to me and i would like to thank you. second I will help you with these dragons, yet i will ask if we may keep one alive so that i or someone in this party can ask it were the dragon city is. I will not seek payment from the farmer. The payment i seek for this is that I am able to find the dragon city or information that leads me to it. If you need any work on your sword or shield let me know. yet i would need a bit of compensation to cover the cost and nothing more."

Popol says to the construct, "Not all paladins are as pious as they are rumored to be, and those that are sometimes cause even more trouble."

at this remark Blastishy turns to Popol. Popol hears a voice in his head "and not all clerics serve for the good and well being of others. and the ones who do not care about others well-being are just as dangerous as paladins that are pious. I tried to talk about the wizard before yet you may not have hear me introduce myself. I am Blastishy and i am an artificer my means of comunication is through thoughts of the mind." pointing to the armor(I do not know what it looks like so if it does not have a raven on it disregard this next question a question enters into Popol head "what is that on your armor and what does it mean " If it does not have a raven on it then pointing to the armor, " I may be able to help you get a better one or make a better one yet i would need a small payment to cover the cost of doing so. A better armor keeps one alive longer."

Harknail also responds to this comment, " I assure thee that I be not seeking battle randomly. Before I became a Paladin I be a simple solder of Netheril. Though Netheril be long gone, I be a solder still. I shall battle those who seek harm to common folk. These are the battles I seek out, along with companions to stand beside me." OOC: I'm enjoying this. I'm getting to use Harknail's background

Popol looks at Blastishy and raises one eyebrow. That is a raven, Fragment, he thinks to himself, and it is the mark of the Goddess of Death, who I serve.

i eye the symbol of the raven queen uneasily, taking a half step away from him. The symbol had adorned many wall in my master rooms, and he had invoke her power during many of his rite, including the one used on me. i grip the rod uneasily as i continue to listen to the conversation crafted by the gathering of many people seeming unnaturally.

Popol shifts his eyes in the other direction, and watches Tol back away with an edge of suspicion on his face.
I guess religion check to see if I know what Tol is and/or why he might be afraid of the Raven Queen. [dice=20] +7[rand=9446969128726964665077054395731220534154116345369995735671515548]

Popol recognizes that Tol is a Revenant, a soul sent back to the land of the living by the Raven Queen. Well partway back, he was both alive and not alive at the same time. Still, much as the Raven Queen hated undead, this particular undead was her own handy work, and as such did not need to be destroyed.
