Noticeing that one of the newcomers shies away from the raven symbol, Romra stands up and makes sure his shield is nearby, just in case anything should start. Keeping silent has always been a trait of his, watching rather than speaking. Keeping his ears listening to the wildlife neaby Romra watches closely what happens between the group now that a seed of distrust has been planted.

i take a quick look around the group again before looking back to the one bearing her sign, check to see if there were any other followers amongst us.
"The few of Raven Queens followers i have met have not been kind people. My current state commends how they treat a discarded body." My voice quip, with a slight anger undertone, not seemingly directed at the priest but more at my own memories. my eyes seem to start to glaze over as im seemingly looking at nothing. then return to focus as a grin comes across my face.
"Of course You wont be an aspiring necromancer though? I am sure we can be the best of friends." i actually say this genuinely happy, and good natured, as if i don't recall my anger from a moment ago. i twirl the rod though my fingers like a baton no longer trying to keep a deathgrip on it.

Popol closes his eyes and shakes his head slowly. "No aspirations of necromancy," he says neutrally. "No affection for necromancers, either."

+5 for religion to see if I know who Raven Queens is and what they believe in. Blastishy knows that the Raven Queen is the god of Death, Fate, and Winter. She is not an evil god, but is generally indifferent to the plight of mortals. She does not like undead and is not the patron god of Necromancers (that would be Vecna). She commands her servants to destroy cults of the Demon Prince Orcus.

It looks like introductions are winding down, so I'll go ahead and start the next (combat) thread this weekend. I still haven't heard back from the former player who wanted to rejoin, so we'll continue without him.

Harknail racks his memory for information about the Raven Queen. Remembering that she is indifferent about the death of mortals he asks Popol, "Object thee to my saving of lives?"
The relevant commandment is: "Hold no pity for those who suffer and die, for death is the natural end of life." So saving others may not be a motivation for Popol, but he certainly isn't compelled to oppose it. The Raven Queen does support the prevention death for her followers companions, so that they can continue to assist her follower in her goals. In the end, it's entirely up to Popol how he wants to play his character. Specifically, he's good so he's much more inclined to help others than most clerics of the Raven Queen. This will NOT get him into trouble with his god. She's in no hurry to collect peoples souls.

"I rarely object to the saving of lives," Popol tells Harknail, "especially lives whose life prolongs mine."

Harknail replied, "Good. Then I have no objection to thy company. Anyone here be objecting to the slaying of drakes to save farmers?"

“I object.” says Dart quietly, “ I'll defend the drakes - even from you Harknail - they are alive - your not as far as I can tell and you follow a god of war - as long as you have things to kill your happy - Where I protect the living world - and seek to live in peace with it!” - [dice=20][dice=20][dice=20] they well need our protection.[dice=20] - you don't want to make this personal Harknail - you'd lose!”

thinking to himself "why is it that he has to always be a diplomat every where he goes, this can turn ungly best do something. so blastishy stands between the two. In there minds they can hear " we do not wish bloodshed on this land nor should we fight each other. I to do not want the drakes dead but i wish to help the farmers as well, there is a way to do both, but calling him out on his god is not a good way to make friends. There are many ways other then spilling blood that we can help the farmers. Yet if the drakes attack use first I hold the right to defend myself. If you let me talk with the drakes and find out what they want and why they are doing what they are then we can figure out what to do next. I would need a translator do ether of you know their language. I feel this is the best way that every one is happy. we don't kill the drakes and we help the farmers. agreed?"

I have no objection to helping the farmers and drakes, but I will side with the drakes - if it comes to a fight.[dice=20] intimate harknail, [dice=20] sense motive with the telapath - Dart is holding his eye bite and paladin defense at the ready - but has not drawn any weapons yet. Harknail answers aloud. "I know not the languages of beasts. Yet if thy keepest the drakes from attacking others, than I need not slay them." Turning to the gnome, Harknail adds, "I have slain a dragon but 3 days agone. I be not afraid of a little gnome. If thou feels that drakes be spared, then offer thyself as their food, I will spare them if they eateth thou instead of farmers. But if thou causeth harm to farmers, then thou shall be slain along with the drakes."

I believe you. I bet the dragon was chained and unable to defend itself but believe you. Only a monster kills that - that cannot defend it’s self. So I believe you. [dice=20] sense motive [rand=17909247637726367882552947150543375052922568283981944463294930756]

Dart can't sense Harknail's motives as Harknail replies, "If the dragon be chained then it wouldn't needeth be killed. It be quite able to defendeth itself, half the group that fought it be so badly injured that they needeth retire from adventuring."

Harknail decides he's had enough of this and starts heading for Eldridge. His armor slows him down, so others can quickly break camp and catch up. Except poor Dart who's even slower than Harknail. Dart can catch up and keep up, but he needs to push himself to do so. New thread here You can continue posting here if you want to continue any conversations while traveling to Elkridge (about an hour away).
