We have a destination, we know we shall have no support from the other drakes, and we know that there are 5 trainers, and most likely a drake for each. "A destination? Truth be told I know not where I am, other than far from home, so excuse me for being unfamiliar with the activities of Zehir's followers in these lands."Barbatos motions towards the Drake, "these dragonborn are clearly harsh taskmasters, but it seems the drakes are their property, as is this citadel, and given their attempts to avoid the local populations and chase down errant mounts it is unlikely that they deliberately released the animals who attacked the town"

The drake answers, "Not have have language till woke from long dream. I only drake that talk. Trainers call me Knai." It reached for Dart and pulled him close, lowering its head on Dart's lap. "I tired, friends".
There is no one left around to guard the drake from. It is still awake and able to answer questions. It's using Dart as a teddy bear, but isn't hurting him.

Dart gently strokes Knal's head, "Friends! Friends! Would you like to be called something else? Have you liked the sound of a word that you have heard? I'd prefer you choose a name of your own. Now my friend - you are related to dragons, kobolds and Dragonborn. All of them are people. So drakes are people." says Dart then he smiles, "Would you like to be called The People?"

The drake closes it eyes and enjoys the stroking. After a few minutes, its breathing stops. The drake has passed on, quietly, peacefully, and among friends. While the group was unable to save the drake's life, there were able to save it from dying painfully and alone.
After the drake has passed on, Harknail asks, "What should we be doing with the body? Roasting not be appropriate for a creature that talketh."
I'd expect answers to Harknail's question to vary widely based on the characters beliefs. Tag all.

Dart would just leave the body to decay where it is. Fey have fey burial mounds and just leave their dead to be claimed by nature. It's a lot like the elephant graveyard. hidden but left in peace.

"Roasting not be appropriate for a creature that talketh." Barbatos looks towards Romra, "roasting may not be such a bad idea, the villagers will soon be back with knives if we don't burn the body, and it's too large to move."

The drake is too large to cremate easily, especially in a swamp where there is little dry wood. It would take a very large fire to do the job.

Llewelyn: "There is little wood here for cremation, I doubt we can bury him here in this swamp, unless you want to have a watery burial, and I doubt we can move him to somewhere else easily. We may have to leave him here." I am assuming that it is a muddy or even watery place with no good spot to bury a creature of the drake's size.

That is correct. In this area "dry" is relative, meaning not under water. It's quite muddy here.

Dart say's "Let's find a place for the body to be claimed by nature and leave my friend in peace. Then I'm headed to the mountain. I welcome the company."

Scratching his head "I could offset some of it's weight, but you'd still have to carry it."
(tensers disk will take 500 or 1000lbs of it, depending on the roll, which I doubt is enough)

"Give it a try. If nothing else if it works we wont break our nicks do to the roots of the trees around us." said Dart

Before Barbatos casts his ritual, the group realizes that the drake is too heavy to lift onto the disk. But they can drag it on the muddy ground without much trouble. And once in the water the drake was mostly floating. Though it still needed to be dragged over the shallow patches, the drag marks were under water and not visible. Harknail and Romra did most of the pulling, with Dart helping. Meanwhile Llewelyn scouted ahead to find a good spot where it wasn't likely to be found by the kids, but would be found by the natural scavengers to return it to nature.
When the left the swamp, Barbatos cleaned himself a bit at a time using one of his cantrips. When asked, he worked on cleaning the others as well, which removed the evidence of what the group had been doing.
The party was winding down when the group returned, but there was still plenty of food for anyone who worked up an appetite. Seeing the group, Mavros approached and said, "Thanks! The kids came back safe and sound a while ago. What about the drake, do you deal with it?"

Dart says "That drake was a hero. The drakes that have been attacking your farms are being enslaved. The drake the children found had fought back and escaped. We treated her injures, talked with her and then she flew off. I don't think you will see her again."
Dart eats and arranges for the group to meet him in the morning at the parties location. He tells the rest of the party he'll be leaving for the mountain at first light plus an hour. Anyone here when he leaves can come with him. Anyone that doesn't can try to catch up on their own. As Dart is slower then others in the party. He does not want a forced march to the mountain. Then Dart gets some sleep. He leaves five gold piece's on the farmers table in the morning with a thank you note. He'll leave at first light and come to the gathering point and get some more sleep while waiting for the others to show up. If he sees anyone he'll hire them to get provisions for the climb. If not, he'll do without. Note: getting up on a farm at the crack of dawn is is easy. The roaster always crows at first light and it is loud enough to wake the dead. Better then an alarm clock any day of the week.

Mavros is confused by Dart's speech but takes solace from his comment that they won't see it again. When he hears that they are going to scale Morningfall, he offers climbing kits and hempen rope to aid their climb.

While you can continue to converse with the townfolk in this thread, I've started a new thread here for the assent of Morningfall Summit.
