Vadania speaks quietly, "As usual, Ka'lion is making things hard. Even if they miss seeing him at the top of the ridge, he's throwing stones to get the attention of anyone in the valley and let them know they have company. They'll probably stay at high alert now, making it harder for use to sneak in."
Vadania stays concealed as she watches for any reaction to Ka'lion's attempt to attract attention. She calls for the others to stay concealed as well. And she hopes that Ka'lion fails in his latest attempt to get himself killed.

Vadania wanted to walk into a trap and an ambush. Her choices are more likely to get the party killed then someone calling the bullies out is likely to be. Kalion wanted to better understand the area before committing any resources. The party doesn't even know how many lizardfolk are in the valley below. He's hoping hitting the creature in the bush will draw out an alley or an enemy.

Most of the stones fall short, landing in the water visibly but unheard from the groups position, while the rest vanish into the distant brush.
At length a lone lizardman crests the far ridge and looks out over the valley and upon sighting Ka'lion raises his shield overhead and crouches down out of sight. A few moments later the sound of a warning horn can be heard echoing across the valley, repeated from the far south and far north.
As Vadania peers north and south to try and guess the distance of the other groups the first horn sounds once more, this time a more complex pattern repeated several times. Madaline points out what all were thinking - their position was being signalled.

Ka'lion leaves the mule where it is and runs to the Leia of the ridge keeping the valley out of sight. run 160' his target is the lizardman he saw but he taking the long way to get to him. Is it your intention to run entirely around the edge of the valley?

Ka'lion wants to alert every lizardman in the valley that we're here at the edge of the valley. Do you really thing that the second course is less likely to get us killed?

As the alarm is sounded, Vadania whispers to the others, "Time to go, this area is going to be full of lizardmen soon." Regretfully she adds, "Nothing we can do now for Ka'lion and his mule."
Vadania leads the group away from the crest, going down the other side. She'll start by following the trail they used to get up there, but will be looking for where they can leave that trail without leaving a trace. Then find a hiding spot where they can wait for the hue and cry to die down.
The idea is that anyone looking for them would follow their trail to get here and miss where they are hiding some distance away from the trail.

Knowing that lizardmen patrols will be headed this way, and unwilling to risk the open valley in daylight, Vadania turns to retrace her steps but then her attention is drawn back to Ka'lion, or where Ka'lion used to be.
The barbarian is gone, a muffled splash and a confused looking mule marking his disappearance.
The world around Ka'lion is dark and cold, up to his waist in freezing water with light filtering down from above through leaves and broken branches. Wooden beams indicate this pit, this tunnel was man-made and long abandoned - it seems to continue away towards the valley.
(Ka'lion takes 4 falling damage and must pass a DC15 fort save or take a further 5 non-lethal damage from the freezing water)

Ka'lion should not need to run that far to encounter the lizard man that spoted him. That said, He smiles at the ierny of the cold water and will climb out. Then he'll get his mule and track the party down. climb+6 [dice=20]=15 search +6 [dice=20]=12[rand=426252080826088857784892781637612066645242739468847225282806903124]

Aelos turns to Vadania "The Barbarian is missing again. Do you think we have time to search for him, or should we get to hiding before the alerted lizardmen swarm the area?"

Ka'lion should not need to run that far to encounter the lizard man that spoted him. It's not a small valley - a battle was fought here remember. The shortest route to the lizardman would have been down and across but even that would be around 400-500 feet up and down hill and through ankle-deep water. The valley extends for many hundreds of yards north and south of here.Ka'lion looks up, seeing the mule staring down at him from above. Grabbing at one of the wooden crossbeams of the old construction he pulls himself upwards, but the beam gives way under his weight and he splashes down into the water once more as mud cascades down around him. The walls of the pit are not stable and could easily collapse under his weight - to climb out without a rope would be risky, but if this tunnel leads nowhere then there would seem little choice. Above Maddy speaks up "'ee fell inta som' kinda pit"(Don't forget that DC15 fort save for Ka'lion - you only need to make it once for cold water unless you are here for a long time)

Ka'lion fort save +3+2+[dice=20]=15 He may of found a tunnel the hard way. "Horsey can you back away from the edge a little please. If you fall in I'd never be able to get you out." now tell me more about this collapsed hole. The idea that is an unsafe passage suggests possibilities. He will gently swim around it to better understand his options unless he can still stand up in it.[rand=494886771310120889671174832619737951233536005028932084140833467]

The tunnel is old, the wooden beams that support the walls crumble in Ka'lions hand. It seems to slope down slightly and the water here is already 3 feet deep.
Without a source of light Ka'lion can make out nothing of what lies beyond the entrance.

Ka'lion will take two daggers and test ( search ) the earth walls around him for clay based earth that he might be able to use to climb out. search+6+[dice=20]=20[rand=662006735568866160070347762666646310935197398067903987430036068]

Ka'lion will take two daggers and test ( search ) (you'll have to wait for other players to act, you've made a half dozen or more skill roles over the last day or two)

Aelos turns to Vadania "The Barbarian is missing again. Do you think we have time to search for him, or should we get to hiding before the alerted lizardmen swarm the area?" Above Maddy speaks up "'ee fell inta som' kinda pit"" Looks like we have a chance to save Ka'lion from himself after all," replied Vadania. " Let's go haul him out of that pit and then get out of here." Backtracking to where the mule was standing, Vadania surveyed the situation quickly. Realizing that the edge of the pit was likely unstable, she kept everyone away from the edge, leading the mule away from the ledge as well. Extracting a rope from her backpack, she ties one end to the mule's saddle, makes a loop in the other end, and tosses it into the pit. She calls out to Ka'lion, " Put the loop under your arms and we'll pull you out."

As the group gathered near the pit Darrian was afforded a better view of the worn stones around the edge. Creeping closer, the way they had been cut looked almost dwarven, but long exposure of the elements made him unsure.

Ka'lion puts the rope under his arms and well let people pull him out. Ka'lion smiles, "I found the way in. There is a tunnel going into the mountain. But I think it would take an expert to examine the tunnel to determine if it's safe enough to travel. I couldn't see so I didn't check it out."

When Ka'lion gives word that he's ready, Vadania leads his mule away from the pit to pull Ka'lion up. She goes slowly enough that Ka'lion can push himself away from the wall and avoid getting scrapped.

The mule backs up, pulling Ka'lion slowly from the pit, by Vadanias estimation it's close to 20 feet deep.
The other members of the group scan the surrounding areas as movement along the ridge-line signals the arrival of the lizardmen - you have perhaps a minute, and outrunning them through the swamp is a risky proposition at best.
The situation looked grim indeed.
