"I need some time to cool down. But running sounds go to me. We need to stay among the trees if we can, at least as long as it is going to take the hydra to lose interest, At least I bought the twelve seconds I offered. Aelos - you don't look so good. Will, I think we just met the answer to the worlds hunger crisis. We need a Hydra in every city to feed everybody." said Ka'lion not sure his kidding or if he's right.

"Don't you mean to eat everyone? I can't say I care for that solution to hunger," commented Vadania, not at all getting the point that Ka'lion was trying to make.

Vadania leads the group a bit deeper into the woods and away from the fell beast, keeping alert for leapers. The way the multiheaded fell beast seems shy about the woods has her wondering if they've gone from bad to worse. But they still need to recover the dwarf's equipment.

Ka'lion winks at Vadania, "If everyone was eaten wouldn't that end world hunger. My point however was that if your food supply regenerated you'd never run out of food. Now please continue your lessons. What plaints and animals are safe to eat or why not?"

"You do have an interesting, dare I say dangerous, solution to the hunger of the common folk," says Darrian after hearing Ka'lion's two remarks.
"If we press a bit further, we should find my equipment. I do not remember it being terribly far from the edge of the thicket," he continues.

"The only problem with my solution is what would you feed it, hopefully not the common folk. But that if they where already dead it would reduce the need for graveyards." said Ka'lion teasing both of them.

Finally understanding what Ka'lion is proposing, Vadania adds, "I think the biggest problem would be keeping it from eating the entire city, as fell beasts are wont to do. Then there is the problem of harvesting the meat. The four of us obviously wouldn't be up to the task, and I don't know anyone else who would be either. Assuming the meat is even edible. It's an interesting idea, but in practice it's even more unworkable than your idea of fighting magic with fire."

"I'm sure it could be eaten and we could capture it but we'd need lots of heavy chains with muzzles. Cut off a head add two muzzles in time you'd have a porcupine of heads to eat but I'd end up feeling sorry for the poor beast. I would not want a life where people where cutting parts off of me to eat. In the swamp is most likely where it belongs eating snakes, eels and other annoying pest. Will captain I was wondering are flowers eatable?" asked Ka'lion

Vadania stops and looks up, momentarily caught up in the conversation she had missed something - the sound of the fighting leapers had stopped.
Either they had fled the area or they were lurking somewhere nearby...
Ka'lion shuffled, adjusting his pack and trying to recover his strength from the earlier burst of action. Aelos saw it too - the group had been far too complacent after their escape from the fellbeast...
Aelos - declare any healing. Everyone - determine marching order/grouping. Who is protected, who is exposed.
(Ka'lion now fatigued, 5hp, -2 str, -2 dex, can't charge or run)

Ka'lions been looking for his mount. Talking does not mean he is distracted but no matter / tracking mount. You may want to make clear on your sheet what Ka'lion carries with him personally. The mule has packs of its own in addition to Ka'lions back/belt packs.
Extended conversations and pestering druids for instruction do count as distracted for the purposes of hearing sneaky lizards The party is still alert but isn't exactly sneaking around...
As for the mule - it's not in this patch of trees, it ran off along the edge of the treeline. If you want to track it you'll need to go back out and pick up its tracks, or find a high spot to look for it. You do know which direction it was headed in though - and wouldn't be surprised if it turned back towards Westerbrook given half the chance.

The group bunch together, Vadania hoping that the leapers would not attack such a large number of people. Branches shake as flashes of movement overhead indicate the lizards presence and the magic protecting Aelos begins to fade, though the barrier around Ka'lion continues to glow strongly.
Madaline lights a torch and holds it overhead defensively while Darrian leads the group towards his pack. Suddenly the ground seems to fall away for a moment, lurching as the party struggles to retain their footing - another quake, punctuated this time by a flash of lightning and deafening thunder from overhead.
In the trees above there is a flurry of activity as the leapers grasp at the branches and then flee deeper into the forest. The quake is brief but intense, far more so than the others, and clearly now tied to the stormclouds overhead.

"Guy's I need to find my horse. He has most of my equipment. Without the mule. I only carry two daggers, a sling and my battle ax. Nothing else." said Ka'lion, "Let's increase this very slow pace. The sky and the earth is upset and we should not be near the trees should they throw a tantrum. The trees may fall on top of us."

Vadania answered, "Yes, we need to take a look for him. Hopefully he didn't wander too far, but he might have just started back home. But first, we need to pick up the dwarfs stuff."

The dwarf gathers up his possessions and the group move cautiously towards the edge of the trees, away from the hydra - to Vadanias relief the glow around Ka'lion fades, aiding their concealment. Peering out from the treeline into the swampy land Ka'lions mule can be seen standing indecisively on a high, dry piece of land.
Careful not to draw the hydras attention once more Vadania lures the mule over and the group begin once more towards their destination.

The group proceeds cautiously for the rest of the day, avoiding any more large pools of water or heavy undergrowth that might conceal such a creature.
The sun is beginning to fall behind the clouds as the group reach the edge of the valley - looking down into a rocky canyon with sparse patches of trees and protrusions of stone. The valley floor is flooded, though only ankle deep, and the map shows the crypt to be dug into the far wall.
Vadania is unsure about guiding a mule down the side of the valley at this point given the poor footing. It would be easier to enter and leave the valley closer to one of the far ends but those locations are also more likely to be watched by any seeking to ambush travellers.
Looking to the sky Aelos estimates that the group could reach the crypt and climb back out of the valley before night falls, if not unduly detained.

Vadania remembered that Ka'lion wanted to check both ends of the valley for ambushes before entering. Although she's not inclined to check both ends, she does look over how difficult it would be to reach one of the valley ends and descend from there. Climbing down would leave them both visible and vulnerable.

OOC: Or is there enough growth to provide concealment? In places, yes. A greater concern would be moving along the valley floor itself as the group would be visible to observers on higher ground.
