looks like it at this time. Joe may be able to recruit some players but that's up to him. I'll think more clearly after I get some sleep. My foots keeping me awake 52 hours with a handful of 20 minute naps to go on. Just enough time to fall a sleep and then a painful surge wakes me up again.

"So your saying druids don't use fire spells at all?" asked Ka'lion sceptically. He's sure that druids use fire but he has similar concerns of his own about using fire in wild areas. He just feels using fire to deal with the dead is a good idea. Vadania answered, " Druids might use fire, but they are very careful with it's use. So we're careful that campfires don't spread. The same is true when we use fire magic. We do not light buildings on fire because that fire will spread, just as the barn you burned spread to houses. And if we didn't have help fighting it, would have spread further."

After Aelos does his healing, Vadania give Ka'lion goodberries until it looks like he's fully healed (3 berries). It looked like Maddy was fully healed by Aelos's magic. That left 4 berries for later today.
OOC: So far Vadania has cast Goodberry and detect poison today.

"What do you need to teach me to become a first level druid? Skills, spells, languages, how to gain a wolf companion? Or could I choose another animal such as a horse or a magpie? I have confidence in your ability to teach me even if you don't have confidence in yourself. As far as spells we should start with the most useful beginner spells." asked Ka'lion, "I'm going to try to ride my mule. We'll see if it goes better then the last time." handle animal [dice=20]+5 ride [dice=20]+1[rand=07597914384678006037650102749466896143262267112731936853298565838486]

Vadania and Maddy watch in amusement as Ka'lion pokes, prods, and pushes the mule trying to mount it. The animal is incredibly patient, raised in the presence of human children, but is either unaware or unwilling to let Ka'lion mount.
The barbarian then grabs the mule from behind and follows it as it walks away, trying to pull himself onto it's back while Maddy giggles and questions what kind of companionship he is after from the animals.
Finally Ka'lion manages to get seated and the mule accepts its lot in life with little more complaint, following the others at a walking pace.
During his struggles Ka'lion noticed a few bags tied to the mule that were not his own - it appears that the villagers had the presence of mind to send him off with a few days of feed.
At the head of the group Aelos gazes upon the map he had been given by the guards at Westerbrook, "We'll reach the crypt tomorrow. It looks to have been built in a valley, on the site of a battle" gazing skywards he states, "I hope that the weather holds, if the valley has become flooded our work will be that much more difficult"

"The valley? I've never been to the valley, but my ride should find plenty to eat. It's to bad I'm faster then my ride is. I'm going to need to learn to ride while a sleep at this rate. So what do you suggest we do about the wizard if we find him? He's a lot more dangerous then we are." said Ka'lion

" First you have to get in tune with nature," said Vadania. You learn about nature while doing so, but the important part is to feel in tune with nature. Doing that took me about 2 years.""

Vadania giggles Maddy's remark. She also blushes. While Vadania knows about the birds and the bees, she has no first hand knowledge of how such things relate to humanoids.

Unless you're planning on scouting out ahead of us. If you can sleep without falling out of the saddle, go ahead. I can lead the mule for you." She continues, " As for the Wizard, we need to approach more carefully, so we can at least get close to him before he starts casting his spells. Then, given what he did to the town folk, we kill him. Or let Maddy kill him if she prefers, since she's the one that lost the most to him. Fortunately we're in my element now, not his. He won't be casting spells from the safety of an upstairs room this time."

"He'll be casting spells from on high if he can. His strategy is to attack out of reach. It's a solid strategy. I've always been in tune with nature. I spend most of my time outdoors. ( Ka'lion has 5 points in survival) So what's next on my study list?"

Madaline turns grim as you speak of hunting the wizard, " 'e came to the inn, im and is horse. Demanded the best wine 'e did, but turned vile when it came time ta pay. Whipped a cloak of fire round 'imself, 'ad a dagger as black at pitch tha burned too. But it were the birds I remember best, the eyes, red like, not of this world"
Maddy rubs at her head "Don't remember much else, 'e got in ta the church some how, then I woke up an it was all ablaze"

"I don't care if the wizard is up in a tree, as long as I can see him my bow can reach him," replied Vadania. "Maddy, besides the crows, I saw him summoning a swarm of insects, a giant spider, and a warrior that threw Alchemists Fire."
" Ka'lion , the next step is to finish the first step. You can't atune to nature in a few minutes. And all else follows from that." answered Vadania. "As I said, it took me two years to do that first step. And I had lived my entire life in the wilds, all the time not just most of the time. This is different than being able to survive in the wild. You need to BE the wild. And I'm not talking about being a wildman, you do have that down pretty well."

"Why don't you start training me and let me worry about what nature means. If it took you two years - it took you two years but newborn are born attuned to nature. They unlearn the skill by growing up to sheltered. A newborn wolf cub needs no training to be attuned and barbarians are wild - we are also attuned. So what's next?" asked Ka'lion annoyed with the druids game. It is why he didn't study as a wizard with his grandmother. All teachers only seemed to want someone to worship at their feet and only got around to teaching if they where paid enough. It wasn't so much that he couldn't learn magic and the rest - it seemed they feared anyone else choosing their own path.

It wasn't so much that he couldn't learn magic and the rest - it seemed they feared anyone else choosing their own path. " I told you I didn't know enough to teach others," replied Vadania. " And animals aren't attuned to nature, not in the way that druids are. Animals are part of nature, but they aren't attuned to it. That's why they aren't casting druidic spells. It's that attunment with nature that's the source of a Druids magic. With it you can cast magic even without a teacher. Without it you can't cast druidic spells. I can teach you about plants and animals, but without that attunement you'd still just be someone who's studied nature, not a druid." Vadania is also frustrated with the barbarians impatience. It's obvious that he's never going to learn anything that doesn't offer immediate gratification. And with that attitude, he's never going to be a druid.

"All right tell me about the plants and the animals we see. I hope the gods of nature are paying attention. They can trust me with their knowledge and you to teach me or I'm going to self train and let the fates decide the outcome." said Ka'lion, Ka'lion will use fire to fight the demon if his weapons prove useless. As of now Ka'lion begins to imitate everything he sees the druid do. Including any spells the druid casts. He doesn't think its going to work but he might manage to learn the druids language and a bit about spellcraft. Intelligence check? Or wisdom check?[rand=180627560708671860075145028531554407366060186177514863690827041864]

As the dull glow of the sun begins to drop low behind the clouds Vadania's keen eyes spot recent tracks on the ground, clawed feet and tails - lizardfolk, surprisingly far from the deep swamps of the fell.

Ka'lion can track once the druid draws his attention to the prints he'll ask the wizard if we fallow them or continue to the target. Ka'lions in favor of keeping moving for the next 24 hours with breaks. "We can rest when we get there."

As they travel Vadania points out plants and animals and tells Ka'lion what she knows of them. His attempts to copy her spells are amusing but doomed to failure until he connects to the source of druidic magic.
OOC: Ka'lion is more than smart enough to pick up nature skill, but he's not wise enough to ever progress beyond novice druid.
Towards sunset Vadania looks disturbed, "These are lizard folk tracks. This is unusually far from the swamps to be finding them."
OOC: The wizard isn't with us, he sent us out on our own. It's just the Cleric, Druid, Bard/Rogue, and whatever Ka'lion is.
Vadania replies to Ka'lion's suggestion with, "I can see in the dark, but the rest of you can't. You'll either need torches, which will make us visible for miles, or you'll be stumbling in the dark and moving slowly as a result. So we're either inviting attack at night or arriving a little sooner the next day but exhausted. Worse case, we travel without torches and are attacked by nocturnal creatures. Either way, where's the wisdom in that? I think we should make a concealed camp for the night."
What's the current terrain like?
