Barbatos fights his way free of the sand and goes over to examine the skull. From up close he can see groves in the floor showing that the skull rotates in place. The skull is back in the position it was first seen in, after the gnoll rotated it a full 360 degrees. Map (updates as positions change) Not sure when I'll get a chance to run Harknail and the Gnolls. Have a lot of things to do for Christmas...

Hello, i am interested in playing. I am in Zem's face to face games. Hi - i'm sure Harknail will get back to you once he's finished his christmas stuff. Level 4 characters, 22 point buy for stats, 1 5th level item, 1 4rd level item, 1 3nd level item, and 680 GP to buy other magic items or magic expendables.

welcome! im happy your willing to give this a shot and game with us. be nice to game with you cause i know we will have lots of fun. can't wait to meet your character. at: you may wish to explain the point buy system for it was complicated and i know that this player is rather new to the system of 4.0. It was a lot to take in all at once. Personally I think it may make it better to take one of the preset array of stats. Yet if they wish to do the 22 points way that is fine as well.

New players are always welcome! The character construction described above is correct. Your choice on standard point buy vs arrays. Before I got a character builder, I'd start with a standard array then tweak it with point buy.
If you'd like to use my character builder to make your character, or if you don't have a PHB, you can stop by the pizza room before rollplaying starts at the DRAGON meeting next Friday.

You can post it to in the character section here
You can make it as detailed as you like, primarily I'll be using that to enter it into my Character Builder, then uploading it to iPlay4e to track HP and power usage. If you used any sort of Character Builder to make the character, you can just send me the file.
You can find the iPlay4e character roster here. But to see the current status of the characters you'll need to create an iPlay4e account (actually a Google account), and send me the user name. Then I can add that user to the campaign and you'll be able to see everyone's character status.

Following Zem's direction, Harknail deals a Righteous Strike to the Gnoll standing next to him (#1). Divine energy from the blow charges those allies nearby (Harknail, Vetch, and Barbatos), increasing their resolve to fight (7 temporary HP).
After leaving the Gnoll bloodied, Harknail fought his way out of the sand, giving the Gnoll an opportunity to attack. But the Gnoll's claws could not penetrate Harknail's steel plating.
Positioning himself between the two Gnolls, Harknail issued a Call of Challenge, requiring that both surviving Gnolls attack him or face divine consequences.

The Gnoll that Harknail struck (#1) took a passing swipe at Harknail before moving to engage Barbatos. This time the Gnolls clause found a gap in Harknail's armor (doing 16 HP damage).
The other Gnoll (#2) shifted to be adjacent to Harknail, and then tried to claw the construct. But Harknail blocked the attack with his shield.
More loud noises filled the room as additional panels opened and yet more sand poured into the room, although there was no one left for the sand to carry away.

As the Gnoll stepped into reach a crack of thunder and a wave of force threw it backwards into the shifting sands. Cautiously he takes a step back to better protect himself from future attacks.
Thunderwave [dice=20]+9 vs fort [dice=6]+6 thunder damage (and pushed 3 squares back)
Barbatos then steps back to N5 (or before acting the the Gnolll can somehow strike him while casting)[rand=6626311193083737724746273345032994160621382758877341595101701124]

cool, So i had a few questions on my move. I don't want to be next to a gnoll but i do want to get to a space next to Harknail to heal him. is there a space i can move to and do this? Also does firing off a spell in close combat allow them to use attack of opp on me?
If i can do that move i will. Then use healing word on harknail as my minor, then fire off a Sacred Flame at the Gnoll that is bloodied.
If it does hit giving hit points to who needs them the most. Vetch could use them maybe the most since he only has few surges left. [dice=20]+7 vs Ref=11 nope so never mind on that but healing surge +[dice=6]+2[rand=17318685166537762937885259743779916080647730268538019325589295476675]

Vetch growls with pleasure as he feels reinvigorated by the actions of his party. He twirls his bastard swords in a quick arc and renews his attack against the Gnoll in front of him.
Vetch will attack the Gnoll #2 at L9 using twin strike
Attack #1 [dice=20] +11 for a total of 29
Attack #2 [dice=20] +11 for a total of 29
Damage #1 [dice=10] +2 for a total of 9
Damage #2 [dice=10] +2 for a total of 12
Hunter's Quarry: [dice=6][rand=8869995319146222780568778257245245934940682177538664909764340716]

As the Gnoll stepped into reach a crack of thunder and a wave of force threw it backwards into the shifting sands. Cautiously he takes a step back to better protect himself from future attacks. Barbatos has quite a bit of control over where the Gnoll goes flying, as long as each square of movement is further from Barbatos. I assumed diagonally down and to the left to get the Gnoll away from Barbatos and near the heavily armored construct that can take it.
Also, because it's a hard corner, it takes two movement points to get from M4 to N5, but since Barbatos pushed to Gnoll first (with no chance of opportunity attack), that is no problem.

Then use healing word on harknail as my minor, then fire off a Sacred Flame at the Gnoll that is bloodied. Healing word works up to 5 squares away, so Zem doesn't need to be next to Harknail, just within 5 squares of the Gnoll. I moved him appropriately. Thanks to Zem's healing Harknail is at full HP again (he wasn't able to use the last 2 points of healing).
Using ranged or burst spells does trigger opportunity attacks, a close burst (like Healing Word) or blast (like Thunderwave) does not.

Vetch growls with pleasure as he feels reinvigorated by the actions of his party. He twirls his bastard swords in a quick arc and renews his attack against the Gnoll in front of him. Distracted as he was by Harknail, both swords struck home leaving the Gnoll bloodied. Out of time, will try to continue tomorrow night.

Harknail considers following the Gnoll into the sand (#1), but decides otherwise. Instead he issues a Divine Challange to the Gnoll next to him (#2), shifts out of the way of the advancing sand, then tries a Valorous Smite on the Gnoll to keep the attention of the other one. But the Gnoll is wary of Harknail's blade and the agile Gnoll ducks beneath the blade that might otherwise have ended his life. Missed by 2

The Gnoll pushed into the sand (#1) wades back out. Now free of the Harknail's divine compulsion, he goes for easier targets. He feints towards Barbatos, but at the last moment he charges Zem instead.
Zem's chainmail protects him from one set of claws, but the other finds it's way though the links and into flesh (14 HP), leaving Zem bloodied yet again.
The other Gnoll (#2) was compelled to strike at Harknail or face Divine consequences. Consequences he can't afford as damaged as he was, so he strikes at Harknail, who catches the blow on his shield. The Gnoll then shifts behind Vetch to reduce how many targets he is facing at once. Though standing next to Vetch is perhaps not the healthiest place for a Gnoll to stand...
More panels open and the sand advances further into the room. The flow of sand increases and more and more sand slides into the crevasse. But everyone has stayed out of it's way.
Tag all, this fight is almost over.

shift move to M8, Send a Sacred Flame at the most injured Gnoll. [dice=20]+7 vs Ref. = 15 [dice=6]+5 damage = 9 Give Vetch the healing of 4 temp if i Hit.
