Garrot wants to go back through the pool obviously.

Ka'lion would prefer the portal but he's ethical - he's unlikely to turn his back on the victims of the undead and the demons without getting the help the victims need first.

Ka'lion would prefer the portal but he's ethical - he's unlikely to turn his back on the victims of the undead and the demons without getting the help the victims need first. You may want to state this in character - Garrot is unaware of events here and would not know your reasons for fleeing the area. He might also agree or disagree with your morals and motives if he knew them.

Indeed. In fact, I have intentionally NOT read any of the prior forum posts prior to Garrot's arrival except to get name spellings right so as not to influence my character actions

"I'd like to see the other side but people are dying because of the demon and undead and goblin attacks. I wouldn't be able to look myself in the eyes knowing I left them to die just because I was curious about a place that sounds like a nice picnic." said Ka'lion
I write what Ka'lion is thinking so other players better understand Ka'lion's actions not to interact with the other characters. If he has something to say - Ka'lion would just sat it.

The tower would be a poor place to be caught should the undead find the group here and half the day is already gone. Likewise standing guard on this side of the portal would be hazardous, though who is to say if the other side is any safer.

Garrot stares at the red haired human as he talks vaguely about demons, undead and goblins (none of which sounds fun, or likely to lead to treasure and/or wealth). He looks back at the portal and then at the "pretty elf" as he thinks of her and says: "I don't know anything about the undead or goblins or demons. But If the pretty elf thinks we should go, I'll go. If she wants me to take her to the shiny walled city, I'll do that too!" Tag Harknail

Vadania considered before she answered, "There is little if anything we can do to help others, but we have been asked to spread the word of what happened so that those who are more capable than we will know what they need to know. This portal perhaps offers us a personal escape from the demon, but at the cost of leaving our tasks unfilled. Yet it is in such forgotten places as this where we might find items of sufficient power to actually defeat the demon again. And although it doesn't seem that way to us, the demon has already been loose for about a month. Hmm."

Vadania realises she knows almost nothing about the demon or it's plans - any hint as to it's motives lay behind them in the besieged camp and beyond in the monestary.
What lay beyond the portal may offer help, only a days travel from the demons forces rather than the long trek north, but then who could say what dangers lay beyond?

"In any case. On the off chance we have lead the undead here. We should make sure they can't infect another world. So I'm going to semi- permanently leave the door blocked. If who ever left through the portal want for help. I'll leave an ax for them to break out when they get back - assuming they do." said Ka'lion

The door is made of thick iron and inlayed with runes on the inner surface, the locks and hinges all on the outside. An axe would blunt long before anyone cause real damage to the thing - even a hammer and chisel would be of little use from the inside.

Ka'lion would lock it then. The greater evil would be allowing the undead or demons to invade another world. At least on ours someone will know how to fight them.

Ka'lion indicates that the others should leave the room before pushing the door closed, perhaps condemning whoever preceded them to eternal exile from this world.
Garrot reluctantly follows, if the land was being overrun by the dead then there would be no place to spend the wealth he sought, though these two seemed to desire little more than to run far from here and hope the troubles of the world were not fast enough to catch them.
With Burr Town still a good three days travel away the group set out through the forest. At first the travel is quiet but as dusk falls both Vadania and Ylva begin to notice sounds out of place, a crack of wood or rustling of the trees where there is no wind.
The group hold their weapons ready, scanning the area around them as they move but at first see no assailants until suddenly a huge brute of a man, if that's what he is, crashes out of the trees almost impossibly close for his size - 9 feet tall with dull tan skin and a long jaw of jagged teeth.
There is barely a moment to prepare before it is on you.

[dice=20] I am not sure if we are flat footed or not, since we have our weapons out. If not flat footed, I get +5 initiative.[rand=4664851262167487634283625057482695993114928078114815065844749017]

The problem of being too busy to post, Vadania was going to suggest taking a day or two to investigate the other side of the portal for anything useful… She also would've suggested simply leaving the door open since it is easily opened from the side anyway… Too late for all that now though.[rand=995990551542490746922489278949797824229711666703224427477666176856]

[dice=20]+5 Ka'lion = 10
Flat footed has nothing to do with when it's your turn. Flat foot affects your armor class. Note: I can think of ten ways to get out of that room without using the pool - an acid splash cantrip cast a number of times should destroy the lock, of course you also have rustmonsters or a pick and digging through the wall. All it takes is time and the right tools. [rand=18523810198530555518313141539692944242360186763113879740973934531]

Wary of attack the group is ready as the creature bursts out of the treeline some 50 feet away and are able to quickly form a defensive posture.

I suggest we proceed in order of initiative. My rogue will do its best damage flanking, so I would like one of you to engage from the front and allow me the opportunity to flank it if possible. I am however open to any suggestions.

Vadania examines this figure trying to determine if it needs to be killed or if it's a possible ally against the undead.

Vadania has heard of them, but not seen them - dusk giants, small for their kind but vicious. The hunt travellers for food and grow stronger with each they kill and consume.
This one seems hungry.
