Vadania answers, "We're not in the open, in fact we're pretty well concealed. We could camp here if we wanted to though I'd like to get some more traveling in before we call it a day. This is an interesting find, but probably not useful. Still, can anyone detect magic on it and it's contents before we move on?"
OOC: Rusted as it is, I don't think this thing is still operational, but it would be a nice find if it is.

sorry I can't for im out of magic, i need to pry. I can't cast spells until i do, its part of the understanding with my god. the sooner we rest the better then. and i do have a few ideas, a mending spell may work and make it useable.

It's big enough for several people to hide in, though even one might find it crammed to sleep in unless of Garrots stature and of course the horse will not fit. A lot of water to empty out still too.
As they discuss the thing Vadania looks up to the darkening sky, hours until night fall but rain clouds are slowly building. Meanwhile Ka'lion pulls more debris from the hovel including a large folded piece of canvas - a sail perhaps, a grappling hook, a game board, a fancy looking candelabra, and a pair of tongs.
At Vadanias question Xana narrows her eyes and peers at the thing before announcing, "it's magical, the whole thing is. The canvas too - perhaps it's a part of it, like a carpet or something." Lynette glances over with a disapproving roll of her eyes, though the announcement that the hovel is in some way magical has reignited her interest in it.

Garrot raises his eyes and scratches his head, looking at the sail/canvas. "What would you need a sail for in a thing like this? Is there a river nearby?" Garrot will become more interested in the search:

"The stream from Melwyn's house meets up with Kryns Run to the north of the old mine" Lynette notes. From Garrots conversations in Burr Town he knew that Kryns Run was the river he had crossed at the mill and collected water from many streams and smaller rivers that ran through the hills here.
There wasn't much to be seen atop the hovel while it was still buried but with the help of a lantern and his newly found goggles Garrot can start to sift through some of the underwater debris while Ka'lion continues on with the bucket - any more than the two of them and it would start to get a bit cramped.
Shining coins and cutlery are easiest to find, someone was certainly living here but not recently and judging by the coins not from these lands.
Above Xana unfolds the canvas finding it unmarked and looking up at the sky, "a tent perhaps?"

Garrot calls up from the hole and says "Does it have holes for a tent pole?"

Lynette calls down "no", and Xana leans over, "no sail holes either"

Ladies and gents hate to tell u all to speed it up but we have bad weather on the way. If we want the chest and what is inside, we best get a move on with it.

Garrot will pick up speed, trying to search through the water and remains to see if there is anything of use or interest.

As he searches underwater Garrot bumps into one of the levers and the hovel shakes weakly with a groan of twisting metal.
Both Garrot and Ka'lion grab onto something and look down wondering if the floor is about to give out beneath them, but it holds firm.

Garrot looks down at the levers and then at Ka'Alion and Ka'Alion can clearly see it is all Garrot can do not to pull the levers again.

"That didn't sound good," commented Vadania. "Maybe it would work better if we dug it out of the ground before trying levers."

Garrot grins sheepishly and says "you are probably right!". He continues digging.

It will be difficult to dig much of it out before the rainfall. If the group can keep it dry overnight then Vadania could soften the ground into loose dirt to clear away, otherwise the group can do it the old fashion way but with only a single broken spade will likely be digging until sundown.
- the choice is yours. In both cases what are your plans for camp, watches, and other precautions? Your current position is remote and well sheltered, surrounded on all sides by hilly terrain, trees, and thick brush.

We could deploy the canvas sail/balloon/tent over the hole to keep water out of it.

Since they aren't likely to find this again if they leave it, Vadania suggests spending the night. Then in the morning after she and George refresh their spells, Vadania can soften the dirt to make it easy to dig out the magical device and see what it can still do.
GM: What spell are you thinking of, and how many would she need?
Vadania will ask if anyone happens to have a mend cantrip. She'd like to see what happens if we try magically mending part of the device, such as the hinge for the opening.
George is carrying a tent around?!? Well it will be nice to have considering how often it's rainy her.
Vadania likes the idea of a tent for those actually sleeping, she's like to set up the magical cloth as an open shelter for those on watch, so they can still see around, but don't have the rain falling directly on them. But she doesn't want to poke holes in the cloth to do so, so that might not work.
Was Vadania able to find any berries today while traveling? Goodberries can save on our rations.
As for watches, Vadania offers to take first watch with Ylva. She feels that's the most likely watch to have trouble wander by and thinks she's the most likely to spot it before it spots us.

GM: What spell are you thinking of, and how many would she need? Soften earth and stone from the phb, several feet deep per casting. Judging by the interior size two castings will free it, perhaps three, but even a single use will save a lot of digging.
There are plenty of berries around for Vadania here.

Vadania checks to see how many goodberies she collected today: EMfPN7Ppp_1-4 p_1-4=5. Not quite enough berries for everyone. She'll eat one and give one to Ylva. She'll offer the other three to anyone who would like a one berry but satisfying supper.1-41-4
