"Boards from the broken cart might work", observes Lynette, agreeing with Vadania's suggestion.

While Lynette breaks boards free outside Vadania ties a rope around Garrot, just in case. Several minutes of prying and hammering later and a collection of wooden boards crudely nailed together stretch across the ground between the party and the chest. It looks incredibly unsafe.

Garrot giggles nervously, pulls his goggles down over his face, holds his arms akimbo and starts walking across the boards. He is humming some tune under his breath as he tries to cross.

Garrot can't see any obvious traps ...

Garrot will examine the lock. If it is locked, he will attempt to unlock, if it is open, he will (as usual) throw caution to the wind and open the chest.

he looks back over his shoulder at the the party and says "Made it! Looks good so far!"

The chest clicks open, but as Garrot pushes on the lid his finger catches against a sharp needle that he hadn't seen earlier (fort save)

Garrot says "Ouch!". He shakes his finger and stares at it angrily.

Garrot feels a little woozy but shakes it off, glad that the years had likely weakened whatever poison the trap contained.

Inside the chest he finds a particularly fine set of clothes, a book, more tools, coins, gemstones, a particularly lewd statuette of an elven maiden, 3 potions, and a set of silver cutlery.

Leafing through the book he discovers that it is all written in some odd language or code, but recognises pictures of the magical cloth and similar symbols within.

Garrot will place the clothes, book, coins, gemstones, statuette, 3 potions, and cutlery in his backpack.

He will examine the tools to see if they will fit in the backpack, if so he will put them in as well.

He will examine the statuette a little more closely (blushing as he does and with his back to the ladies)

The boards sag at one of the joints under Garrot's weight as he returns but he keeps his balance. As he steps off the end a sound of splintering causes him to turn - the wood had splintered apart where been pushed into the floor.

Vadania asks, "Did you get everything out of the chest?"

She looks at the room wistfully. "Too bad it's such a dangerous room, otherwise it would be a fine place to sleep during inclement weather."

Garrot looks suspiciously at the shattered board and the floor and then takes the items out of his backpack and shows them to the group. He says: "Any idea what any of this stuff does?"

Lynette peers at the collection, "it's not magical other than the potions, but I don't recognise the language the book is written in."

OOC: Is Garrot showing us the elf statue?

Vadania asks, "Lynette, is there a spell you can prepare to read strange languages? From the pictures it looks like this book might tell us about the moon powered summing circle, it would be nice to know what that does."

Vadania will look at the pictures to see if they give her any clue about the magic circle.

Lynette shakes her head, "I don't know how to do that, it never seemed like something that would be useful to know"

There are several different circular 'seals' scattered throughout the book, along with scribbled writing and images. It might as well be a mages spellbook though for all that Vadania can understand.


Leaving the room behind the party ties up the cart to the arms of the construct - so long as it sticks to relatively flat ground it should have no difficulty and Vadania, Ylva, and Lynette take up their spots in the cart as Garrot guides the construct back out onto the road.

With no shelter in the cart and nothing soft to sit on it might be a little uncomfortable at times but the sky seems clear and travelling constantly through the night should get them to the siege that much faster.

Garrot did show them everying, including the statuette.

Vadania blushed when she saw the statue.


While riding in the cart, Vadania suggests that Lynette try to get some sleep. Then she can take Garrot's place at the controls. Vadania will put her betroll under Lynette's for what little padding it offers. Vadania will also try to get Ylva to get some sleep. Vadania will watch for any dangers. She doesn't think anything on land will want to bother the construct, but aerial hunters might find the contents of a cart easy pickings.

OOC: Assuming the first shift passes uneventfully...
Around midnight, Vadania will signal Garrot to stop and trade places with Lynette. Once they get moving again, she'll post Ylva on guard duty while she catches up on sleep herself.

As night falls, before the swap-over, Garrot notes that some form of light will be needed - torches or lanterns hung from the constructs claws.

Garrot says "We are going to need some light to move this thing (pointing at the device). All I have are small torches. Anyone else have something?"

"I have a couple of sunrods," offers Vadania. "But I don't have enough to get us all the way to the siege camp."

"Have you identified all of the levers yet? May be one of them activates some sort of light?"

Garrot will look to see what he can find as far as levers.
