Vadania, Garrot, and Lynette watch their one time companions depart back up the road towards Burr Town, perhaps the last time they would meet.
The inn in which they stand sits at the crossroads between the land of Merebas, the path to the eastern desert beyond the monastary of the flame, and the roads to Burr Town and the fell. The monestary is still several days travel but the signs of habitation here at the inn make Vadania wonder if others have been travelling to - or perhaps even from the camp.

Vadania changes her spells for traveling. As they are ready to leave, she casts Pass Without Trace to see if she can hide the tracks of the mechanism as well. She'll also experiment with some mend spells to see if she can mend any holes in the armor.
She suggests to Garrot that he practice using the pinchers while moving (and is sure to stay clear of them), so as to ready to face the goblins when they arrive.
If the goblins are still there at all. She wouldn't mind at all if someone else broke the siege before she got there, but she'll continue on till she can see for herself. Without Ka'lion and his strange demands, life has suddenly gotten a lot easier. She will need to think of places where Garrot can find more toys, but at the moment he seems happy with his current one. She'll also need to find out what Lynette would like for adventures and try to work that in as well.
OOC: I think Vadania will spend a lot of time on the Demon track, with some side adventures.

Garrot listens to Vadania closely and grins from ear to ear. He puts on his craboscorp goggles and gleefully hops into the device. He will work hard to learn how to operate the device, especially the claws. He leaves the lid open and you can hear noises from inside like "whooosh" "grrrrr" and the like as he makes scorpocrab sounds (or what he thinks they are).
Garrot is content to follow the elf and drive the device. He will go wherever Vadania wishes as this point as he views her path as the one most likely to lead to fun and treasure.

GM: George and Ka'lions game is not posted on site for play. It looks like we are left to play with our selves alone. Ka'lions action will have game versus the demons impact. Unless we are just being removed from the game adventure entirely.

Unless we are just being removed from the game adventure entirely. You have your own section of the forum, but it's still in the same section. We now have two story areas, one OOC discussion area, and one list of characters. I'm reading your posts in your forum to se how you two do...
You're not on your own, the GM is busy with other things. He hasn't posted in this thread either.

Garrot finds the claws powerful but difficult to use, especially as he has to take his hands off the controls for the legs to use them meaning that anything not caught in a corner or otherwise immobile would have time to scurry out of the way. They seem more like tools than weapons but would make quite a mess of any goblin that fell into their grasp. While he practices Lynette gathers a leather cloak and a few pokers from the fire inside. Asking Garrot to hold the construct still for a moment she opens the top hatch and uses the pokers and hatch to prop the cloak up over the top of the construct - stopping the rain from entering while the hatch is open and providing much needed light and fresh air as they travel. Georges earlier mend spell had already repaired much of the damage to the hull and Vadania's magic can do little more except remove the scuffs created by the blacksmith. Dents and distortions are not so easily removed and nor is the rust though the hull seems sound, and the oddly rusted back hatch to nowhere still bothers Garrot who has been unable to open it even with the key. While the constructs tracks are not exceptionally deep they are still difficult to hide, especially after the rain, and Vadania's spell is ineffectual. It is at least relatively quiet and Vadania can walk behind removing the worst signs of it's passage as it does not travel especially quickly. It's footprints though are ultimately going to be easy for any skilled tracker to follow. After an hour at the inn with the rain stopped for now the group are ready to begin their journey. Lynette and Garrot between them have managed to string a series of ropes and bags to the back of the construct to carry anything they wish to take from the inn, though there is little there to take save for clothing, furniture, and ale. Garrot, while searching the inn, will take a moment to mention his concern over the back door of the device to Vadania and Lynette. He asks them both to take a look at it before they depart as the continued presence of an unopened and unexplained door really is starting to wear on his ability to pay attention to the other fun stuff in the scorpocrab.

It looks like it would take brute force and leverage, assuming it isn't magically sealed. Feats of extreme strength are not the groups forte however.

Vadania asks Garrot, "Have you found any levers that don't seem to do anything?"
If so, she suggests, "Try having Lyneete pulling and pushing on the lever while you try opening the hatch, maybe the levers are connected to the lock."
If that doesn't work, "Try closing the hatch, maybe it can't be opened while the hatch is open."
If everything fails, "I can try making you stronger tomorrow morning, but we still don't have a crowbar. Would any of those strange tools work to open the panel?"
And for the claws, "I don't think your going to catch many goblins if you have to stop to try clawing them. So that's not going to be very scary once they realize the limitation. Could you show Lynette which lever does what and try working together to move and attack at the same time?"
OOC: Don't have a lot of time today to post, so I'm sending lots of contingency posts.

Although the back hatch is built in the same style as the rest of the construct it has rusted at a different rate, suggesting that it was a later addition. None of the levers appear to affect it.
As the group start up the road towards the monastery gate Vadania finds tracks on the road, a horse and cart that appears to have moved south within the last few days, likely the same people who spent the night at the inn. Perhaps one of the merchants had escaped the siege, and if that was the case they would be close to the Merebas boarder by now if not already beyond.

Garrot will work with Lynette to see if they can operate the device in unison with the hatch open as they travel.

Between the two of them Garrot and Lynette can operate the construct in a somewhat threatening way, though outside of cramped tunnels and corridors it would have little chance - the claws appear to be designed to clear away obstructions. Lynettes greatest advantage though is keeping her head up outside the hatch and looking around, and she notes that in a fight they would likely be best served either closing the hatch and escaping, or disembarking and using the construct as cover.
The first day of their journey is relatively peaceful, Vadania estimating that they would come close to the old portal tower the following day but only if they diverted their path. The road itself is proving to be a slow but safe route.
(watch order and arrangements for the night please)

Garrot will agree to first watch. He will sit atop the device for a better view of the surroundings. He will defer to Vadania on the arrangements.

Vadania offers to take last watch with Ylva. Whle she's had Ylva stand watches alone when it was just the two of them, she didm't think the others would trust Ylva that much. Besides, Ylva had no sense of time and wouldn't be able to wake the next person on watch.

The night goes quietly for a time, the construct parked just off the road in shelter, and it is nearing the end of Garrots watch when he hears a scuffling from the direction of the road and catches a few whispered words of what sounds to him like the goblin tongue.

Garrot (who speaks Goblin) will quietly climb down and warn the others, and then move out to try and see if he can hear any more talk or identify where the goblins are.

Garrot wakes the others and then moves a little closer to the road, ducking back down again as a light flares up. Someone has lit a torch, though it doesn't appear to be in an effort to seek out Garrot - he is still hidden from sight and does not himself have a clear view of the road. Certainly goblins by the sound of it though.

Garrot will move as closely as possible and try and listen in on the conversation:

Move Silent: p_1-20 +14, +2 (racial)=34
Listen: p_1-20 +9=221-201-201-20

Brush near the roadside makes it easy for Garrot to approach unseen and unheard, and on the road he spots a small hunting group - eight goblins, arguing over the tracks. From their conversation it would appear that they had been following a wagon but are of mixed minds about continuing with some believing it is far gone while others believe the fresh marks on the road could indicate that it was damaged in some way.
Garrot is no tracker but this group doesn't seem much better, if not for a road to follow he doubts they would have made it this far. Still the construct leaves a relatively clear path and only the poor light and bickering amongst the goblins would hide it if they decided to renew their search.

Garrot will creep back and warn the others and hastily decide how best to proceed.
