I cant believe that shit.
"d&d killed my boy" oh, boo hoo.
it's obvious that the boy was an idiot and his parents even dumber if they blame it on a game. a role playing game. that only "dorks" with high grades play. what if that kid would have used math books? "ban math! it kills children"

My guess would be that he had one hell of a time balancing on his mother's romance novels for their small size and upgraded to the biggest books that he owned. At the same time I couldn't help but notice that the boy knocked over a stack of books, and judging by her reaction only tow were D&D books. That either maens that he hung himself by kicking two books out of his way, or she ignored all the Cosmo magazines that he used to suppliment his height.
I HATE people that think like this.
I was trying to locate a comic published by Jack Chick, for those of you who are unfamiliar they are comics preaching the evils of the world. One such comic, no longer available that I could find, detailed how a young lady joined a cult of D&D players and committed suicide because of her 'characters' death. All told I wanted to kill the jerk that wrote that shit, but some of their comics can be humerous. If anyone can locate that comic I'd recommend sharing it with our little communtiy here.

Because the Bible declares all magic not divinely given as the Fruit of the Spirit to be the work of Satan. Bah... So to put it in perspective, a Christian who is given a dream of the future is blessed by divien light, while a Wiccan Dreamweaver who has the same dream is a tool of Satan (even though they don't believe he exists). That is of course not the typical Christian view, only the extremists.

It's not really surprising that D&D is related to Satan from the christian. Every little things that could slow down their "convertion" of the people, is automaticly made from Satan.
They had to build an enemy to fight to make people beleive in their shit. The smalers sect were a good target. And the only way to know how to convert people is by force..
Like the "juifs" (not sure of how to call them in english, they've been in war with them until the year 1300 or something) and the witchs, they were with Satan.
Any other things that give an other god or view of life/anything, is bad. D&D is just an other thing to fight..
Kman, this wasn't wrote with the intention of being serious? This story was as funny as the article. Especialy the letter: It's my fault Black Leaf died.I can't face life alone! -Marcie ..how can't you laugh at that??
Someone read the comments? They're really funny.
Celebril, I agree with you. These people can only be really stupid to beleive that. And, the video was funny too..
I'll only said like someone did in the comment, her kid deserved to die.

Unfortunately Korone, I believe this comic was written in all seriousness.
If you examine the rest of his site, the rest of the comics are much like this one...a few go far beyond.
I believe that you're right, it's just something to attack.

Well, this is gonna be sort of hard to say... See, some of you know that I'm MAJORLY religious. I'm Mormon, going on a mission in a year and a half, 10% tithing, seminary every morning, the whole bit. However, I also hate Jack's guts, though I now see why it's forbidden to even mention his name over on the WotC boards. lol...what if the kid had been tall? "Oh, that blasted pituitary gland killed my son..." Anyone notice that 1/2 the group in the first panel is female? I haven't the hard facts to prove this, but a group of that composition has got to be about as common as Civil War vets (The Civil war was in the mid 19th century, for all you non-Americans). I'd also point out, as a self-plug, that the first character mentioned is named Wizard. Not that I'm particularly happy to be mentioned in a Chick tract, but any publicity will do. Anyway, I'd caution y'all to beware of blanket generalizations, and I believe calling the Christian religion "shit" violates the Be Excellent to Each Other post. You demon-worshipers. ;D

{I don't believe Korone wasn't calling the religion itself 'shit', but moreso using it as a reference for generalization of their doctrines. For example; If I say, "I'm going to get my shit before I leave." I'm not calling the item(s) I'm getting shit, but rathering referring to them as mine in a broad swear term. But Wiz is right, watch the broad generalizations please. }

I think, given the context, he meant 'their shit' as in 'their stuff'. I insert one word for the other all the time in casual speech, so it was harder for me to pick up on. Then again, I could be wrong. But I'm pretty sure no offense was intended. The problem I have with Christianity, to build on the subject - And this is ultimately the root of every dilemma I have with the church, I think - Is the double standard that is the root of it all. Christianity, like every single other religion or belief out there, is a 'faith'. It's called a faith because you kinda have to have it to believe it. 'Cause there's no definite proof. There's no definite proof for any given religion, and everyone pretty much just has to guess or pick what's right for themselves. Which is fine. It just aggravates me when, for no supportable reason, everyone else is unforgivably wrong in the eyes of Christianity. What makes Christianity correct, exactly? I'm in danger of going of on a tangent (as f I haven't already) and sparking some kind of debate (as if I haven't already). Anyway, in summary, I've got no real problem with any particular faith, because I see no way I can hold one over the other. It's just some of the followers that grate on my nerves. Like Jack Chick. Holy damn, do I hate that man. EDIT: Ofcourse, K-Man's a good 10 minutes ahead of me. Because I type too much. Meh!

I think that it's the parent's fault. (yes, i'm back to the real subject here)
So the kid used the books, so what? Have they ever thought that that Billy (that's his name, right?) was high or drunk when he did that? Maybe he got involved with some ass holes (you know the kind of people/kids i mean). Maybe he killed himself to make it easier on his parents because they had economecal problems? (is that how you say it in english?) here in israel kids actualy killed themselves because their parent didnt have money.
i mean, what do the parents really know about their kids? i'm one myself, and let me tell you: nothing.
here's an example: "how was your day at school?" "ok" "what did the teacher say?" "nothing"
and so on and on.
just because that kid killed himself, it's no reason to blame the game.

Well, Yeah, that's really what I mean. Religion is shit, but like The Udjat said, no offense was intended. The closed minded of the christianism isn't really inviting. Over millenia, they changed our society, rules, etc. about what we are today. (Who really suck for my opinion) I'm not saying that the beleiver is a retarded, it is the religion who's unlogical. Nothing were said against you Wizards, I don't even know the mormon's religion. How can I talk agaisnt it? I'm anti-religion, every aspect of it and every one. They mostly all get to the same point anyway. (Maybe that's why all my characters are atheist.. duh..) Celebril, the religion is part of the subject. But I must agree, where does it says that D&D were the reason of it? The parents decided that or what? D&D simply took him in a world that the christianity don't accept, like every worlds that exist if it isn't their world. You're right, the parents can't know their kids if the kids don't want too. It's so easy to fake..

Nothing good can come of this thread..... Yeah, I would say the same thing. I didn't though that some people here were seriously in religion. I though the article was funny. How people can be low-minded with that kind of thing. Didn't though that it could had done that. Maybe a discution over the religion and the like.. but I feel that if I don't take attention about what I said, we'll have a flame war quick enough. I'm really close-minded with everything related to religion.

Which is fine and I respect you for that... It's starting to seem like this thread is degrading into an endless debate rather quickly. Keep it nice and respectful please, I hate moderating. This is a place for people that enjoy the game... regardless of beliefs. Let's keep it that way.
