The 5th ed sample game was interesting. I liked the character I made for it. I liked the setting (which reminded me of Numenera). But the GM seems to have vanished. I hope all is well and that he returns to finish the game, I'd like to see where this was going.
But meanwhile, I'd still like to try 5th Edition. Is anyone else interested in trying again? I'm willing to try running a game, though mine won't have as fancy of a setting as K'mans.
What I have in mind will be a more conventional points-of-light game with lots of wilderness encounters and dungeon delves. I'm thinking of having a patron or two for the group, someone who's hiring adventures for specific missions. But I'm open to suggestions and some shared world building.

Okay, three is enough to start. if we don't get more I can run an NPC like I do in my 4th Ed game. I won't be using my dwarven wizard though, he's too much of a leader to make a good NPC. He might make a good patron :-)
You won't be out of touch with civilization in this game, so only the normal starting equipment/cash for this game.

I'm thinking of using Nentir Vale as the setting for this game even though it's a 4th ed setting. I have a map of the area, which is full of adventure hooks. I'll be making new encounters, but with the hook rich area I'll be able to offer you multiple hooks so you can pick which one you want to follow up on.

I think its most simple is if i keep my dwarf
He is from the dwarf mines, bit obvious but thats ok.
That way i dont have to worry about trying to make brand new character.
Im keeping same personality just no older brother to have to keep an eye on.

So I was pretty much invited to this place by someone and they pointed me over to this game. I'm interested in trying a playing in this play by post 5th ed game. I'll fill any role that's needed for this. I've played 5th ed once, enjoyed it a good deal, and I'm sort of excited to try it again.

I think I still want to be a shield Fighter. I like strong, sturdy characters in general, and I enjoy playing the defender.

Okay, so far I've had six people express interest either here or on a Facebook page where I issued a invitation to DRAGON club members. It looks like we will have a battle cleric, a barbarian, a fighter, and one fellow hasn't yet decided between fighter or cleric. The other two people haven't picked anything yet.
I'm going to rename this thread to include a campaign name that will be used when we created the game folders.

What are the rules for ability score generation?

What are the rules for ability score generation? Use a 32 Point buy for your character. This is the same as the previous 5th Ed game, so if you're reusing the same character you won't have to adjust stats. You will need to adjust equipment though, since this game doesn't have the "Will be far from civilization for an extended time" bonus to your starting equipment.

i had copied the 32 point buy from the first 5e game. I Went back and checked and I saw where a later post increased that to a 35 point buy. To keep things simple, I'll go with that.
So 35 point buy for the characters.

The inspiration for this character is Titus Pulo from the HBO Series "Rome". His Flaw is definitely "Reckless" however he is military trained; he doesn't "Leeroy Jenkins" out of formation during a battle; it is rather his own personal choices that are reckless (spending all his gold on ale and wenches, picking a fight with a gang leader, etc.)
His Bonds: Well, this character works really well as part of a duo with a much smarter and less reckless person to help give him direction and reign him in. Likewise, Hurik helps this stuffed shirt learn more street smarts about the world. This person might be a brother, an old army buddy, or some person of authority that he feels a need to protect (like a mage or cleric). My preference is for it to be a party member; so if anybody wants a really tough warrior who will do anything to defend you, look no further.
Personality: Happy-go-lucky, quick with a smile or a joke, but also quick to draw steel in any situation.
Ideals: Loyalty to friends and living the good life in the here and now

Hurik looks good. And his proficiency with lock picks will come in handy when a locked door is in the way. Please post Hurik (and all other characters) in the Nentir Vale Characters forum.
