The hardest part about pike formations is not the pike. The hardest part is the sword on your belt that keeps banging against your ankle, that you can't fix because both hands are on the pike.
But Shen liked pikes. Pikes were for infantry, for infantry fighting cavalry, or bears, or monsters.
Pikes were for the little guy. And in Nentir Vale, with its trackless wilderness, ancient ruins, and savage neighbors, Fallcrest was one of the little guys.
He straightened up (to a certain approximation of "up") a bit as Sarge walked by. Haft in the dirt, point straight up, left hand ready at the hip. The Guard.

few days after my brother was returned to normal :
" Bishop you have never asked me how i can repay you for helping me with my brother. Many days have passed since that day, yet you have not asked anything from me. I would like to know why that is. "
Elir was a simple person, did not have all that much. In matters that conserned his brother he would do anything to help his brother.
Bishop was a good person, and was there for Elir. Bishop was also Elirs only current friend.

"Bishop you have never asked me how i can repay you for helping me with my brother. Many days have passed since that day, yet you have not asked anything from me. I would like to know why that is." Bishop shrugs the comment off, "it is the duty I have been tasked with. Repay the gods with your deeds, I am but their servant". Freeing dwarves of their own magical mishaps was not Bishops normal line of work, but he felt no debt was owed - the power he wielded was not his to wield for profit but rather granted to him that he might better serve his god.

Ugh, will they ever sell anything here that doesn't taste like sewer water?
Lincoln glanced at the posting board again. No one else had walked up to it yet. Not many postings, but he was keeping his eye on one in particular:
Looking for adventurers
3-4 adventurers needed to accompany training squadron on mission.
Healers and scouts preferred. Visit Corporal Hurick for more information.
Lincoln took another swing. If only they were looking just a scout, he could already be in the barracks fulfilling his contract, but apparently the guard wanted a bigger group for a longer mission. At least no one else has taken the job yet.

Aegis, as was usual during this time of...was it day or night, he wasn't sure, was at the bar. Drinking this sort of swill was almost nostalgic, given his travels over the last few years, port to port, to find himself. That, and do his job, but finding who he was along the way had been quite important for him. Scratching the stubble that was what he could call a beard, he ordered another round, planting three copper pieces on the bar.
Taking a swig of the current mixture that this tavern called ale, Aegis simply wondered when he'd decide on the next port of call, so to speak. It was up to him. Where to from here? He wasn't entirely sure yet.

Elir looks at the posting,
"Well bishop looks like there is a good steady job that fits our skills
odd I was thinking finding one would be harder. looks like we just need to find the person who posted this, do you mind if you do it, im not a people person.
(Elir looks around anyone who matches the dirscription on the posting. Yet he has bishop ask around.
Being in a bar was bad enough, talking to drunks and strangers not his idea of fun.
Given the last drunk tried to puch him, Elir defended himself. It ended up being he had to pay for a window do to drunk being tosed out of it.
Given bishop was more a people person anyway, it was best not speak and stand grimmesing for as long as possible.)

While Elir looks around the room Bishop takes the more direct approach of speaking to the inn keeper - a local corporal should be well known here.

Lincoln walks up to the cleric after he is done speaking to the bartender.
"So, you also looking at that job posting? Seems they want at least three."

( Elir knows a bait question when he sees one )
He then stands next to bishop just incase things trun bad. yet does not say anything.
He knows an argument would come out of his mouth but ruin the job possibilty so best not say anything.

Bishop regards the half orc that had approached him (does Hurick have a uniform or any other indication he is part of the guard?)

OOC: Please include your character name in each post so I don't have to look up your characters to see who's talking. I'm really bad with names and don't remember who is playing which character.
Hurick has received his orders from Faren Markelhay, Lord Warden of Fallcrest. Tomorrow morning he is to take the recruits he has been training and investigate Kobold Hall. The kobolds there have been getting more aggressive, and recently have captured an entire wagon from a caravan. Specifically, Hurick is to find out what's going on but not get himself or any of his men killed. There is will be a substantial bonus if Hurick can bring back the bone mask worn by the kobold leader as proof that the issue has been dealt with.
The notice on the wall is from Teldorthan Goldcap, a dwarf armorer in Fallcrest. Recently the kobolds of Kobold Hall stole a wagon from a caravan. Among the cargo in the stolen wagon was a cured green dragon hide destined for Teldorthan's shop. He was planing on turning this hide into a fine suit of scale armor. He will pay 100 GP to whoever can retrieve the green dragon hide as long as it is still in usable condition.

It's gotten very quiet since I posted details about the mission/quest. I was expecting more comments not less.

OOC: Are we talking to the merchant now, or still to hurik? The merchant posted the notice on the wall that was mentioned earlier no one has talked to him.
