Aegis, now that combat is over, curiously looks over the whole area, muttering to himself about Crossbow lessons being an absolute waste. Looking to the group, he spoke, "Well, I'm going to start investigating the area. Something tells me that just because this place is called Kobold Hall doesn't mean that the only things here are Kobolds. Not going to leave the room, of course, but I am curious about what is here" he said, moving from behind Lincoln and starting to look around the place.

I'm assusming Kamon-DO has plenty of help to search the bodies
As they group searches the kobolds they find that each had a dagger as well as a sling. Even more interesting is that each had a big fat money pouch. Unfortunately all the coins within were copper. Still, there was enough copper here to actually be worth something.
OOC: Unfortunately how much it's worth is at home...
Also the first kobold had been playing with some sticks and twine. One of those sticks is actually a torch.

When Aegis pokes his nose into the back chamber where the reinforcements came from, he finds a larch collection of sticks, twine, rope, and torches. It appears that the kobolds were trying to figure out how to make some kind of trap out of torches, but they hadn't gotten very far with that yet. Still there were about 2 dozen perfectly good torches here for the taking.

Picking up the torch, Aegis looked at the stick oddly. Why would the Kobold be acting so weirdly with a Torch? Sure, it was unlit, but at the same time it was quite odd unless there was a reason for the torch. Curious, Aegis began to look at it more carefully, trying to see if there was any residual magic, or any magic at all in the unlit torch.

Aegis can detect no magic all all from any of the torches. But looking at how torches and sticks were tied together, it looks like the kobolds were trying to invent some kind of torch trap. He could see where they were testing different kinds of bindings that would move in different ways. It didn't look like they had come up with a design they were happy with yet.

Elir says: " Sir should we try now to get that gate open now? O and nice fighting everyone we took them out quite quickly. Has anyone see my.. O here they are never mind."
Elir takes back his darts if they still intact.

Elir (and everyone else) can recover their thrown weapons and ammunition.

5e fun fact: You can recover half your ammunition and all of your thrown weapons by taking a minute to search the battlefield.
Beth will take a sling from one of the dropped kobolds, and relieve them of their daggers as well if no one else wants them. She could use some extra backup ranged weapons. Her thrown handaxe is on the other side of the portcullis.

Lincoln will look at the pool of liquid in the center of the room. "I wonder what this stuff is."
Investigation: h960yUFbp_1-20+2 = 21
Lincoln will then go over to the bars, and, assuming he does not think they are trapped (Would that be perception or investigation?) will walk through them, grab the lost handaxe, and then inspect the lever on the other side.1-20

If the bars are too close together for L-short to get through, Hurick will use the halberd to get the lever, keeping one foot on the portcullis so the counterweight doesn't trigger all at once.

Looks like "L-short" can slip through just fine. Beth's axe grazes one of the bars of the lowered portcullis and spins out of control past the kobold. The portcullis has wide spaced bars, but not wide enough for a human to slip though. A halfling or a kobold could easily fit though though.

Finding a trap would be perception, figuring out what a trap does would be investigation. After directing that there bars themselves were not trapped, Lincoln easily slips between the bars and retrieves the thrown hand axe. Looking at the lever, it does not seem to be trapped either, but it does look different than the lever that lifts the portcullis at Moonstone Keep (the keep at Fallcrest).

The liquid appears to be simply water, a bit scummy and not the freshest, but still just water.

Elir humms " Blinded by the light" . " Darn one on other side of gate is the only one that survived its impact :/. No matter the other one was bit defective anyway. ( has 39 more lol ) Does anyone have some extra chucking weapons they dont want/need? darts are great and as i said still pack a punch. Yet having spare weapons is never a bad idea, cause eventualy you can run out.

Plenty of slings to be had, plus Beth has collected their daggers (which can also be thrown). Slings are based on Dex, but daggers can be thrown using either brute strength or finesse (DEX).

Hurick will take an extra dagger. "When you are ready to move out, after people are healed up if we need it, let's continue exploring. Lincoln, I think we should take the left-most way from where we came in, if you want to take point again."
Hurick's rule of dungeon exploration is simple "left, always left". If you follow the left wall, it keeps you from covering the same ground or getting lost too easily.
