"Sure, I guess," says Beth, handing Elir some of the daggers.

Hurick also collected a dagger. So I get Hurick has 1, Beth has 2, and Elir has 5.

Elir " Thanks! "
he puts the 4 of them away,
" ill try this one on the next kobolts we face. "
he gets back into formation ready to face what was yet to come.

Hurick's following of the left wall brings him back to the portcullis, which is still closed.

Hurick's following of the left wall brings him back to the portcullis, which is still closed. Didn't I or Lincoln open it?

Not yet, so far it's been looked at but no one has tried pulling it to see what happens. It does look different then the lever that lifts the portcullis Hurick is familiar with. That one takes a lot of pulling back and forth to ratchet up the portcullis to the keep. So lifting the portcullis is a slow processes. Dropping the portcullis on the other hand is very fast, just release the ratchet holding it up.

Each kobold had a few copper coins. Gathered up and split evenly among the group, each character gets 20 cp
Also there are around 2 dozen tourches that are in good shape if anyone wants them for additional light.

I can't get full reply to open on my mobile, but Lincoln is going to make sure that the lever opens the gate, isn't trapped, and then take the necessary steps to open it (assuming the lever does open the gate.)

Lincoln checks the lever for traps and doesn't find any, though he can't be sure what the lever is actually connected to. After confirming that the lever itself isn't dangerous he pulls on the lever. When it doesn't move he pulls harder. The lever moves slowly and smoothly as the portcullis rises, those with good ears can hear gears spinning and chains clanking a bit in the wall. When the portcullis is just prongs sticking out from the ceiling there is a thump inside the wall that everyone can hear and the lever stops moving.
OOC: A very precisely balanced counterweight means Lincoln wasn't actually lifting the gate (unlike the portcullis in Fallcrest's keep), but there is still a lot of mass to move and with mechanical disadvantage. Still much easier and MUCH faster than one without a counterweight. The chain between the portcullis and counterweight engages like a gear into the precision wheel that moves it, And keeps the counterweight from helping if you try to just lift the gate without using the lever. Elir has seen something like this at home, dwarven workmanship.
The portcullis is now open and all may proceed through.

"Bishop, could you light up my shield too? It couldn't hurt to have a second light source," says Beth.

Elir: " Well its a great thing then that i have one i can as well. So Beth if i may do the honors?
If Beth hands Elir the sheild he then casts his light spell on it and hands it back to her.

Aegis follows the group, moving back into the position he'd been in before as they move further into Kobold Hall. Hopefully the group will not suffer from any further mishaps, so to speak, Aegis thought to himself.

I'll need to get the next map ready. Not sure if I'll be able to get that done over Easter weekend.
