The trip to Mornontormarux's lair was going smoothly. Stravanya was in the lead, since she had studied the course in the old book. Harknail was right behind her with Zem bringing up the rear. Barbatos and Bennegar were side by side in the middle. The terrain was the usual plan with occasional hills, trees, and ponds. The group was heading north east, more or less straight to the lair.
It was as they were passing between a pond and a couple of trees that Zem saw movement in the trees. He shouted out a warning just as the trees erupted with a burst of some kind of drake. A full dozen total, with 4 of them larger than the rest. The group had no time to do more than raise their shields before the drakes charged.
OOC: To get things moving again, I set up the marching order and rolled initiative. Only Zem made his passive Spot check, so he isn't surprised. But his initiative is after the drake (as is Harknail's). So in the surprise round, the Drakes charged, then Zem goes (Standard Action only). Then the normal round starts and Stravanya, Barbatos, and Bennegar get full turns. Thanks to Zem's warning, everyone gets full DCV during the surprise round.
The icons facing right are the full sized drakes, about the size of a wolf or panther (medium). The icons facing left are smaller (small). Other than size they look like the same kind of drake. Nature roll as a free action recognize them and perhaps recall some useful info.
Drakes Charge results:
M1: attack Stravanya jn_9P83wp_1-20+9=22, Damage p_1-10+5=10 M2: attack Harknail p_1-20+9=22, Damage p_1-10+5=7 M3: attack Bennegar p_1-20+9=15, Damage p_1-10+5=9 M4: attack Zem p_1-20+9=14, Damage p_1-10+5=12
S5: attack Bennegar p_1-20+9=26, Damage 5 S6: attack Zem p_1-20+9=28, Damage 5
Of the adults, only the one Staranya got hit (for 10 HP). The smalls ones that could reach targets both hit.1-201-101-201-101-201-101-201-101-201-20

( Is there aoo for using ranged attacks i cant recall or not.)
If there is aoo then Zem will use basic attack vs #5 for his at wills are both ranged. If no aoo cause there would be 3 of them : then Sacred Flame on small one on Benny. i think thats #5 anyway.
Sacred Flame roll +7 vs ref. tGwDx_eyp_1-20=12 vs ref. I dont think that will hit.
p_1-6+5= 11 damage
or basic attack +? p_1-20
damage for that idk yet, I need to re look that up.1-201-61-20

Zem tries to smack one of the small drakes with his mace, but finds that they are very agile as his target dodges his swing.

Barbatos and Stravanya do a well coordinated dance of death. Barbatos burns the drakes to the south while Stravanya steps back. Then Barbatos freezes the drakes to the east. And finally Stravanya moves back to make her attack. The full sized drakes did not seem much affected by the wizards attacks, but most of the smaller ones did not survive.
Barbatos only missed 3 of the drakes (S2, S7, and M3).
I looked at Stravanya's dice rolls. You're entering a flat number not a dice roll, that's why you're always getting maximum values. So you're typing in 20 instead of 1d20, 12 instead of 1d12. So you'll need to reroll Stravanya's attack. On the plus side, you do get to roll twice since the other nearby drakes are now dead.

Barbatos spots that one of the smaller nearby drakes had escaped the fire and holds ready in case of attack from that direction, but is satisfied that the group was no longer at risk of being encircled. ]You need separate attack rolls for each possible target I always get that mixed up. The spell should knock over M1 and M2, and leaves S2 in difficult terrain - I don't know if that helps Staranya though.

I updated the map to show that M1 and M2 are prone (+2 to hit with melee attacks, -2 with ranged attacks). The difficult terrain was already on the map as the blue shading. This means that Strayvanya would have to shift 2 to reach her target, but the power she is using gives her a shift 2, so this works out well. Thanks to Barbatos she can roll twice (removed other adjacent enemies) and gets +2 to hit from it being prone. Great teamwork!

Stravanya steps carefully back onto the frozen ground and delivers a mighty blow to the drake at her feet.

Bennegar whips Lizzy off his back, then explodes into a myriad shards. The swarm of shards then moves, passing around his allies, to a further position from the two drakes that had been in front of him. Taking Lizzy up by the hilt, he javelin-throws her at one of the drakes he had left exposed to his attack, invoking her powers as he did so. As Lizzy soared through the air toward her mark, cackling maniacally, Bennegar turned his tome to the furthest of the drakes, and, pulling the pages open directly to where he wanted to, sends a single cinder of fire toward the drake, which then puffs up and explodes in a cone all over his target, causing sparks and more cinders to fly off of it onto the creatures around it... ---- Shard Swarm to H7, causing Drakes 2, 3 and 4 to give me combat advantage until the end of my next turn. - Move Action Weapon Encounter Power on Drake 2, immobilized by hit. Lizzy doesn't return until the immobilization ends. - 1d20+8=16 vs. AC Action Point, and Erupting Flare at-will power on Drake 3. Any creature that starts its turn next to the target before the end of the target's next turn takes 4 Fire damage. - 1d20+7=18 vs. FORTEDIT: I forgot to add my combat advantage, but I think I'm hitting both of them, anyway. :I lol

Lizzy few over the prone drake, missing it completely before returning to Bennegar's hand. The spark of flame fared better, striking the drake. The drake was unable to resist it and got scorched, sending out more sparks to others nearby. Missed damage roll: hP9Zla22p_1-10+5=10
These things are high AC, and prone at ranged canceled out advantage (though that would have missed even with advantage). Their Fort defense is not as good 1-10

The drakes continue to attack although half their number has already fallen.
M1: Gets back to it's feet and tries taking a bite out of Stravanya, but she just takes a quick step back out of it's reach (hit AC 17 - miss).
M2: Gets back to it's feet and takes a bite out of Harknail's knee (crit) for 15 damage, bypassing his armor plate and getting a good taste of the circulating fluid that serves Harknail as blood. But as it's biting Harknail it gets singed (4 hp) from M3.
M3: Extinguishes the flames and shifts to within reach of Barbatos (to H10), and takes a bite of the human wizard (crit) for 15 damage.
M4: Tries to take a bite out of Zem, but Zem kicks it in the snout. It wasn't a solid kick, but enough to keep it from bitings (hit AC 11)
S2: Makes it way across the now slick ground to the closest target (Harknail) (moves to I9). It also succeeds in taking a bite out of Harknail (hit AC 25 for 5 hp).
S6: Also tries to take a bite out of Zem, also gets a boot to the snout for it's trouble (also hit AC 11)
Map updated. No one on either side is bloodied, Tag all
