While the others are talking, Tink scans the guards with detect evil, and Brennen scans them with detect magic. Unlike with Berith, it seems pretty unlikely that a couple of grunts would have nondetection spells, so they probably won't show a false negative.
Brennen also examines them with Urban Savvy.

Herp, no, that's my familiar in another game. Fixed.

The horseman seems wary, likely a combination of the groups appearance and Ka'lions words, "what is your allegiance?"
(neither Brennen nor Tink sense anything magic the man or his horse, BAB +1, AC15, mounted combat, mounted archery. However Tink does detect evil here.)

Tink concentrates to determine the strength and location of the evil auras, and says, in Sylvan, "[Evil detected]."
"[No magic detected]," Brennen responds, also in Sylvan.

Vadania answers, "I am a druid of the steadlands, protecting my homeland. I am not affiliated with any civilization, though I'd rather they not fall because of a threat that was released here."

Ka'lion looks at Vadania, "You should say nothing about why we are here. They are dressed in clothes from outside kingdoms. This countries neutral to a large degree and where there are strange movements currently going on. For all we know they could be scouts for an invasionary force testing the kingdoms for weaknesses. If there is a war both sides will be recruiting. When I tried to recruit the druids they refused to work as a united force for mutual benefit. I had the same troulbe with the barbarian tribes do to a misunderstanding. At the end of the day. What I learned is all political driven groups are only concerned with their own agenda. So far I've found a handful of beings able to set aside their politics for the greater good. I have a feeling these trust passers are A.W.o.l or scripts to invide. I've pointed out the derrection for them to if they are lost. If they are and they choose to believe me. They will get home following my directions but if they are spies. Any information we give them will endanger someone."

Vadania answered, "And why shouldn't I answer their questions? This area is neutral because it doesn't have anything worth claiming. I forget which country actually claims the steadlands. But they are possible allies in fighting the demons, a way to spread word back to their kingdom."

"[On the other hand, they could also be working with the fiends, or even possessed by them, for all we know]!" says Tink, still in Sylvan. (Everyone in the party speaks it, but I'm guessing these soldiers don't.) "[They detect as evil, so they are probably our enemies. Perhaps we should capture and interrogate them]."

Vadania answered in Sylvan, "Evil Solders? I don't like the sounds of that. But you're the leader now."

Kaolin also answers in sylvan, ""Evil is not the same thing as guilty. But it does suggest I'm right. Vedanta you don't need to say your sorry. I never do. But just keep in mind sometimes I might be right."

The guard hesitates a moment at Vadanias words and then turns and rides back to his companion as Ka'lion begins his speech, the two discussing their next move out of earshot of the party.
(there is a faint evil coming from the man that approached, and his companion is far out of range of Tinks magic unless she pursues)

As soon as the rider turns his back, Brennen shatters his weapon.
Look, if a sword happens to spontaneously explode, it's really no one's fault, right?

Brennen utters out loud a word of the dark speech, creating a loud and terrible rending sound in the air that shatters the riders sword in its scabbard, sends his horse bolting, and the dazed soldier head-first into the ground where he lays unmoving.
His companion wastes no time in fleeing.
(this all occurs before Ka'lion gets through his first few sentences)

Vadania goes to check the fallen solider. Is he stunned, unconscious, or dead? Dead, his neck cleanly broken by the fall. (poor guy only had 5 hitpoints, and rolled a 6)

"Well, I can't say I was expecting that outcome," says Brennen. "I guess he wasn't much of a rider."
"That's just great," says Tink. "Now we can't even interrogate the jerk."
