Cold Embraces

Vedanta never took the skill required to scrolls. I've brought it to her attention a dozen times. She gets around it by using read magic spells. As far as the other schools. Most are high level and none of us can use them. All of them are back in the cave. Some where 9th level scrolls.

( there maybe things we can use, its worth knowing what we all have to help sort things out. Just saying it wont work without taking a vital look at them means we could miss options. I want to have what our arsonal is so to best use it. Who knows there could be lv 3s or twos we can use. As to the 9th that seams way too high for us to find at this lv.)

Vadania replies, "The only person shooting at the back of a retreating horse was Ka'lion. The first soldier died falling off his horse when Brennen shattered his sword to disarm him. The other soldier rode off to get help, so I flew after him to stop him from summoning the Army. I wasn't happy about killing someone who had done nothing wrong (yet), so I didn't go out of my way to tell you that detail. We didn't leave anything to connect us to their deaths, so that is not why the Army would be looking for us. As I said earlier, we don't know why the Army is looking for us or even if the Army is looking for us."

"Now that Tink has found out that the Army does indeed have one of those trackers, we have an idea of what they might be after. Since Emily also has one of the trackers, we can test any protection against detection to see if it works."

"Still, I can't figure out why you have been so upset with me since we met you again. I haven't lied to you, at worst I didn't tell you everything."

"But to start with, it's probably best to hike all the way back to the cave, and then just sleep in later. The cave is protected with an anti-detection spell, so we wouldn't have to worry about the Army stumbling across us in our sleep. In the morning we can figure out how much of the stuff from the cave we can shield from detection while carrying it. Anything we can shield we can simply leave behind in the cave where it can't be found."

Now is not the best time, perhaps you and I can talk alone about things but sun is setting fast. Im not brushing this off i know its important to both of us.

Right now its best get amove on to that cave. Ka'lion is fast but out their alone is not a great idea right now, but again if he wishes to go grab it and come back thats an option too. Im out of my fast transport spells.

Ether way we should grab what we can from there and prevent it and us from being found/located .

Vadania answered, "I still have a Pass Without Trace spell left to hide our trail. But it will take us half the night to reach the cave. If the army continues tracking though the night they may intercept us before we get there. But once we're at the cave we'll be safe. It's guarded by a non-dection spell. That's why these trackers haven't been working. It wasn't until we removed the tracked items from the non-dection cave that the trackers started working again. It's strange that there were multiple trackers for these items made. But in any case, there will be plenty of time to talk while walking."

"Let's head out." says Ka'lion as the sun has set. Ka'lion gets his spells at dusk. He calls his owls in and sends them to watch the cave until the party arrives.

If we have the lead-lined box, let's also try putting the stuff in it to see if it blocks the compass. Worth a shot.

Emily checks the chest and notes that the compass seems to be tracking the box itself, and offers to check each item individually.

It is dark and overcast by the time the group reach the cave with little moonlight and a cold wind blowing in from the west. The party is undisturbed during the night.

At dawn, Vadania refreshes her spells. She casts Protection from Elements on herself to protect yourself from cold as a precaution in case they encounter of the ogre Magi or someone else using cold magic. Now that she is vulnerable to cold, she is likely to do this every morning.

Once everyone is up and ready to go, Vadania asks, "Since the lead box itself is being tracked by the trackers, what does everyone want to do? As I see it, the choices are to leave everything being tracked here until we need it, keep moving and try to stay away from the Army, or go talk to the Army and see why they are tracking this stuff in the first place. Maybe we can talk them into giving up on tracking it, and maybe they can convince us to give them whatever specific item or items they are looking for. The hard part is talking to the Army without starting a fight. I thought that Tink would be able to do that, but apparently their forces include spell users that can hurt Tink even when she's immaterial"

"We leave the chest behind. George can you send a message to Eartold, He's the founding member of my family. He lives in a chamber with over 200 self were skulls. They teach during the day and tell campfire stories at night. He can speak on my families behalf.

" Eartold, Ka'lion has found a tome of flesh golems. He'd like to trade it for 4 Heward's Handly Haversacks with delivery. Is his offer fair?" says Ka'lion

George counts words out 23,24,25. um ka'lion that 25 words we need to short it a bit to fit the 22 also we need a meeting location fit in there with a time frame. I can only cast one lv 4 other then my domain. So we cant send another one if they reply. Hopefully they use a sending so that we can.

How many remove cures spells do we need? I would like to save the scrolls of it if we can.

Also with parties promission devinding what i have as far as potions and scrolls go i think now is a good time to do so.

Vadania comments, "I think Ka'lion is talking about my Ring of Fire Type. I don't think it's cursed so much as it made a permanent change to my body, where I can't survive without the ring. The negative aspects can be compensated for. My blood glows dimly, but it's not hard to cover to avoid being seen at night. I am vulnerable to cold now, so I'm testing a Protection from Elements (cold) now. On the plus side, I seem to be completely immune to heat, and I suspect that anything that spills my blood is going to take damage from it. I tried pricking myself to see what my blood looked like in the drop of blood burnt a whole in a stone floor."
