Ka';ion has felt short changed in every trade the party have made and he can't even find the items he wants. That's not eBay. It's part of the adventure - make contacts and friends, figure out who you can trust, locate individuals who can craft or supply various things.
I wouldn't have put as much emphasis on it normally if the group was more interested in following the story and/or moving between dungeon crawls and combat encounters - but the party spends all of it's time wandering around looting anything that isn't nailed down (or in Ka'lions case anything that can't be pried up). If I let you all freely trade magical items at full cost you'd end up with wealth by level appropriate for epic games and likely still wandering in circles in the Steadlands.
TL/DR - if you go and do something other than non-stop looting, there will be less emphasis from my end on the loot.

I was under the impression that Tink was going to lead us into the desert after the demon, after a few stops along the way looking for items we could use in the fight. Vadania does not like the idea of leaving the fell, but I'm fine with it :-)

Ka'lions going to need to go home to arrange for the things to be made that his needs. Traveling doesn't bother Ka'lion. Traveling without being able to get back home does. Ka'lions still dealing with a basic issue. He need's to be able to carry his gear and the things he collects for his future home. He's had that same problem for 7 levels. Now no one in the area will sell bags of holding or haversacks. So it's going to need to be made for him by someone. Ka'lion familiar with the dangers of a dessert and water won't be a problem for this party but that's not the only concern he has. 2 levels from now he starts his new prestige class. So he has some concerns - he already knows the party can't defeat the demon yet and considers it foolish to try. We just got our butts handed to us fighting an ogre mage and demon is a harder fight.
2 more notes: Ka'lion is going to release the owls and his horse before entering the dessert - the animals would starve or die - in particular the cold owl would never survive it. A'lions taken care of animal all his life. And he knows better. In the dessert those animals are food. Nothing else and he doesn't think the gods would like it. I just he has learned a little wisdom.

(a box of holding was an early quest reward for going east, and also available to the west - no need to go anywhere special for them, I was just trying to discourage the group from ignoring the quests in favour of excessive looting)

Emily told about someone who makes such bags from where she comes from. MUCH closer than Ka'lion's home! Also, I saw it as the Ogre Mage ran for fear of it's life after we defeated it's meat shield and were hurting it badly. And we've already defeated a demon. Yet you see both of those fights as loses. I agree we aren't ready to fight the boss demon yet. But we will be by the time we work our way though all his minions.

A box of holding won't work for us. It's to bulky and hard to transport without a beast of burden and nearly impossible to carry with us. Have you ever seen a camel carrying goods? They work but are hard to ride. A bag of holding is to heavy for Ka'lion. He needs a quiver of elonna and or two and 2 haversacks for his gear. The truth is Kalion has started collecting a library and thats heavy. He can't carry it without his horse unless he gets a light form of container for his finds.

Too bad the rogue left the game taking the crab vehicle with him. That had an entire room of extra dimensional space! It wasn't stealthy, but it could carry a lot and provide an armored camp.

Once spells are selected the group is ready to move on. Their original destination, the sunken ship, is around a half days travel back past the mill. He needs a quiver of elonna and or two and 2 haversacks for his gear. The truth is Kalion has started collecting a library and thats heavy. I get the impression no amount of storage space would be truly sufficient for Ka'lion. He'd probably try to dig up the whole cave if he had something he could fit it into.

It's an issue of weight and always has been. It's true that Ka'lion likes books and distinctive items such as the great panting, the dragon building, his dragon sword and the dragon door. Ka;lion is collecting for his home. Now he sells junk. It doesn't do him much good - but it's put its back into use. If he wassen't constently being taken advantage of he could afford not to take everything including the kitchen sink. Right now that's just not the case. He's been short changed in every trade he's made. He thinks it's a racesed issue - he's a foreigner so we can cheat him ( As a boy I was in Mexico with a forster brother buying soda pop. It cost him a 1$ more then it cost me for the same drink. You see I refused to buy until someone that could speak english clearly and they knew I was going to walk out the door and buy nothing. So I understand racism. I just don't encounter it very often)

Does George wish to attempt to dispel magic or curses on any of the items? He's been short changed in every trade he's made. He hasn't (remember I spelt out his equipment at one point), he just believes the worst and fails to address the problem in-game with skills like sense motive and appraise. Merchants are out to make money at the end of the day and have good reason not to exchage their more desirable items for things like a musty tome written on skin and wrapped in barbed wire

Ka'lion have no charms and would be wasting his time trying to put points in sense motive and appraise. They are cross skills for him and they are focused skills for a merchant. He'll stay with taking the kitchen sink. At least he has some control over that.

Ka'lion would have no idea about the time of day. But the party can try contacting his little sister. It's the only way he can think of of contacting his family.

Vadania doesn't really see the point of contacting Ka'lion's family, but she isn't really opposed to it either and will help if needed. But she can't cast Scry until tomorrow, and will need a natural pool of water.

"It should you'd also be able to use a mud puddle, or ice puddle or a reef pool on the coast. All it says is it need to be a natural pool. The GM has already said the book was made out of human skin. Only a necromancer would feel conferrable using it and the only good aligned necromancers Ka'lion knows are his family.

OOC: would a lake work for a Druid's Scry? Yes, anything reasonably still, contained, and not man-made.
Who is this mysterious sister of Ka'lions that has suddenly sprung into existance?

Don't bother trying to scry Ka'lions family the odds are - 21 to try so it's a waste of time. Lets go kill the demon. I will be sure to leave all Ka'lions weapons and armor behind. If the gm wants a hopeless encounter I'll give him one that's really hopeless.
