With a thunderous crack part of the enchanted ring splits, the smaller elementals and lightning orbs vanishes as the boat falls back into the lake - though it still remains afloat despite it's condition.
There is little time to contemplate this however as the two released elementals - fire and air - rush towards the party with reckless abandon, but there formation does give the group a few brief moments to prepare and re-position.
[Tag all - the elementals have formed over the lake]

Didn't Brennen just destroy the fire gem, to see what happens if that one breaks first?

Didn't Brennen just destroy the fire gem, to see what happens if that one breaks first? Yes, the air one was already damaged past release point but not totally destroyed - so it was feeding into the storm elemental and broke when that formation was prevented by the destruction of the fire gem

Ah, damaging all of the gems would have resulted in emerged elemental, destroying 1 results in separate elementals...
Vadania suggests, "I think we should split up a little bit. I'll try to distract the fire elemental, since I don't think that 1 can hurt me." Having learned from personal experience that fire creatures are vulnerable to cold, Vadania again pulls out her Want of Cold, and uses the remaining daily charge to target the fire elemental once it gets within range (30').
Cold damage: gxCJg9b|p_1-6p_1-6 =10, DC 14 for half
Seeing no more targets around, Ylva waits for these new threats to get within reach of her claws. Attack: p_1-20+10 = 20 Damage: p_1-6p_1-6+6 = 14 Trip: p_1-20+11 =221-61-61-201-61-61-20

If it is going to be a while before they get in range, Vadania will use more for long-range attack spells and abilities... I was expecting them to be in range later the same round.

They are able to charge with their action - but Tink/Brennens actions will likely be resolved first due to the longer range of their attacks.

In that case Vadania should also be using a longer-range attack so that the fire elemental charges her. do we have a clear line of sight to them at this time?

In that case Vadania will send a second searing beam at the fire elemental. Burning something immune to fire ought to get it's attention...

(ranged touch attack required - the elemental no longer counts as a construct so the full damage stands. Also tag Tink/Brennen)

Brennen blasts the air elemental, hoping to score a fear proc on it. Tink readies an action to aid on AC if an opponent attacks in melee.

Each elemental rushes towards the foe that had struck at them. Even with Tinks help the sheer speed and size of the air elemental was hard to stop as it smashed into Brennen (10 damage) - perhaps drawing its attention was unwise. Neaby, confident in her fire protection, Vadania almost doesn't get her shield up fully to block the fire elementals charge. It has considerably less fire and more physical presence than she had expected - but it does give Ylva something to sink her teeth into. Biting such a large burning object prooves as harmful to Ylva as the elemental though as the wolfs fur almost catches alight (4 fire damage and reflex save DC17)[Tag all]How large are the elementals? 10-12 feet tall (large, 10' space and 10' reach). What's the DC on Brennens attack?

Vadania hopes that she can dispatch the supplemental quickly so that she can help Brennan. She switches to Wand of Cold and uses its last charge against the fire elemental.
Damage: HGlnJ0vzp_1-6p_1-6 = 7, DC 14 for half damage
Ylva attacks anything that attacks her companion. It circles the elemental to attempt to get flanking on it before moving in to take a chomp. Attack: p_1-20+10+2(flank) = 28 (30 with flanking) Damage: p_1-6p_1-6+6 = 12 Trip: p_1-20+11 =171-61-61-201-61-61-20

My dream is that one day, having concealment will actually cause an enemy's attacks to miss. Brennen decides to take a more defensive line this turn: if the elemental starts to attack him again, he will use a readied action to teleport away in response (to the opposite side of Ylva, so that the elemental provokes if it follows) and avoid the attack. He'll leave an illusion of himself behind, although it will probably be pretty obvious that it's a fake if the enemy's punch goes right through it. Concentration to cast defensively: HCimsdokp_1-20+13Tink will use her aid action again. 10-12 feet tall (large, 10' space and 10' reach). What's the DC on Brennens attack? DC 16 or shaken.1-20

My dream is that one day, having concealment will actually cause an enemy's attacks to miss. IIRC the ogre mage had a hard time of it. This is the first time these guys have had to roll for it though - the lightning orbs didn't need a roll to hit. I assume i've been rolling correctly as a 20% miss chance? Brennen did also manage to shake it (will save of +2 not so good), though it didn't affect the outcome.

Vadania and Ylva keep the pressure on the fire elemental - though the flames are a significant threat to Ylva as she takes another face-full of fire (6 fire damage). The fire elemental responds with several heavy blows, only one of which makes it through Vadanias formidable defenses and she shrugs off the heat without further harm (7 bludgeoning damage)
Nearby the air elemental seems to collapse in on itself forming a whirlwind that pulls Tink in as she flies around it, though Brennen is able to quickly teleport away (DC16 reflex save for Tink to escape the winds - she can become incorporeal with her own action to escape them automatically next turn)
[Tag all]
Ylva now needs to make two DC17 reflex saves (one for each bite) as natural attacks against an elemental risk immolation - she may be advised to make for the lake. (Also, in accordance with the rules compendium, you cannot trip a flying fire elemental)

Ylva reflex save #1: DkDom8MJp_1-20+7 = 15 Ylva reflex save #2: p_1-20+7 = 25 I just figure it's easier to always roll the trip chance, and let the GM decide if the target is actually trippable 1-201-20

Ylva catches fire, though Vadania judges that the flames will not engulf the wolf in the high winds and water thrown up by the air elemental (3 damage)
[Tag all, Tink to make her own save]
