"We should have such a wand, though I regret that we can offer little more - our most powerful casters were killed in the attack or left the order years ago. We have been seeking to contact those that left."
(the party has something of an option if they are going east - to join up with Altar and Lynette again or to form a party and continue on their own path while the other group is elsewhere)

Vadania would like to rejoin Altar and Lynette, if Tink doesn't object.
If we do reconnect with them, should we bring the hammer with us to give to one of their companions who can use it? This is a question for the order.
Also, do they want payment for the wand if we're heading off to fight the demon?

The next morning Vadania will change her spells so that she can try contacting Berith. If that fails, she check again to see if he brought another stone to the tree.
But for the rest of today, she'll prepare to leave the fell for the first time in her life (since she was brought here as a baby). Specifically she'll: 1) Stock on on rations. There aren't likely to be berries in the desert for her goodberry spell. 2) Found out what she can about where Altar's group is. What city/town did they reach? What is known about it? 3) Turn over Ka'lions horse to the monastery. 4) Obtain a Wand of lesser vigor, or a Wand of Cure Light Wounds to replenish the groups healing 5) Determine if the legacy hammer should be left here or brought with us to fight the demon. Is there anyone in Altair's group that could even use the hammer effectively? 6) Anything else that the Monastery would like to send to Altair's group. 7) Decide what spells she'll use for traveling in the desert. She's open to advice on this issue. 8) Try to work out some way to feed Ylva in the desert (again, consulting with the order, who knows far more about the desert than she does).

2) They last sent message from the city of Alamut. It is the largest of the north-western cities of the empire, walled and well defended tough rarely threatened. Its distance from the capital and trade - not always of the legal kind - has given it a more relaxed culture than the deeper empire, especially as it is considered something of a remote backwater by the standards of the Sorcerers who rule the empire.
Due to its location and past the city is ruled by a prince rather than a sorcerer or vizier, history would suggest it was built up from the private residence of the family in centuries long past when a great expanse of water stood between the Steadlands and the desert lands - the area of dried chasms and magic now called the broken lands.
1) Rations are available - with caravans once again moving through the pass there is fresh food here. 4) The priests here will happily provide a free replacement. There are merchants in the caravans beyond who might have more interesting wares, though at a cost. 5) Altar could fight but showed limited proficiency, while Lynette was more of a finesse fighter. Still the weapon may prove useful or else valuable in trade - even here the priests would likely give up a magical shield or similar item in return for it. 6) Healing potions and scrolls - the group took what they could when they left but the priests have crafted more. 3/7/8) ...

2) OK now we know what city to ask for transportation too, and have some idea what to expect there.
3) Can Vadania get some saddle bags for Ylva so that she can carry her own rations (meat and/or dried meet). We may need to do some hunting before leaving to get enough for Ylva. Hopefully there will be sufficient creatures in the desert to refresh the meet stash from time to time. Too bad summoned creatures disappear as soon as they die, otherwise Vadania could somming creatures for Ylva to eat.
4) Thanks, Vadania will check out the merchants as well.
5) If no one there will be able to use it, it's probably best left here. Unlike Ka'lion, she'll happily accept anything they offer in exchange. And be very greatful, since she's willing to just give them the hammer.
6) Vadania will bring whatever they want to send to the forward explorers.

Ylva is large enough to use saddle bags designed for horses, with a little modification, though the priests note that the desert is not just an expanse of sand and rock - there are many areas of scrub and grasslands particularly in the settled areas.
Vadania is thanked for the hammer, which may prove a potent warning tool in the event that the cabal attempt to sneak through the priests defenses. While the most powerful of their magical items were taken by the demon many of those not within their vaults or armouries were overlooked, including crystals intended to allow more easy travel of their warriors into the deserts.
These crystals, when attached to any form of armour, provide the same protection as an endure elements spell.

Indeed! Vadania no longer needs to worry about the heat of the day, but the cold of a desert night is now more of a problem for her.
Will these gems work for Brennen (who wears no armor) or Ylva (who wears just a collor)? Does Tink need protection from the eleents?

Brennen has armor. He wears a +1 mithral shirt.
Tink is immune to cold weather, but heat affects her normally, I think?

Will these gems work for Brennen (who wears no armor) or Ylva (who wears just a collor)? Does Tink need protection from the eleents? The priests can arrange for soft leather barding for Ylva that will suffice, and also offer her a little extra protection from other forms of harm - it weighs 30lbs and grants an armour bonus of +2.
Tink is immune to most forms of natural cold but not heat.

Yay! Armored wolf! Hope Ylva doesnt' mind the armor (Vadania will shapshift to wolf so she can talk about it to Ylva and explain why she needs wo wear armor and carry saddlebags.
So can Brennen and/or tink use these gems?

So can Brennen and/or tink use these gems? Brennen has armour, Tink would require some kind of masterwork item of clothing or jewelery to use one. More powerful crystals also exist that require magical items.

Tink could wear masterwork sharkskin or padded armor no problem. But it's probably hard to find anything in her size.

Tink could wear masterwork sharkskin or padded armor no problem. But it's probably hard to find anything in her size. Even masterwork clothing is enough. While the priests are not known as skilled tailors there would be many in the desert city who could fill such an order.

Does the team already in the desert have these crystals?
Also, once attached can these crystals be removed and transferred? Currently Vadania's armor has a crystal that reduces fire damage, but she is now immune to fire damage and so doesn't need it. So if she can, she like to transfer that crystal to someone else in the group (perhaps Ylva).

The crystals can be moved around freely, provided the new wearer has suitable enhanced armour/weapons/shields.
Only one armour crystal functions at a time however.

Does Altair's team already have these crystals?
How does one switch between crystals? Is this something Ylva could do (assuming Vadania explains while she's in wolf form)?

You can pop an augment crystal off with a move action, and pop it on the same way.

Does Altair's team already have these crystals? I'll make final alterations to Altar and Lynette to bring them up to lv7 (or 8 as appropriate) when you rejoin them, but they have all the equipment they need.
Once the party is ready to head out and has spent/sold what they want you have the choice of trying the tree again (which will work this time - the party just happened to get here the same day as Ka'lion so you've got Beriths sister Moriana since he is off to the south dealing with Ka'lion at the moment) or you can travel through the broken lands with a caravan, or if there is some last thread you want to tie off in the Fell you have that choice.
