The group turns west off the road, continuing on foot into the night as their summoned horses expire. Heavy clouds overhead leave little light to travel by but the party pick up the river that leads past the watermill they visited some time ago.
Does the party wish to continue through the night or find a place to sleep?

Vadania is relieved when the conjured horses vanish. Riding all day has left her sore. Vadania recommends finding a place for the night. Although with the shard of sunlight light is not a problem, the shard of sunlight is visible a long ways off. The other alternative is to use the low level light from my glowing blood, that won't light up as far, but should be enough to avoid tripping on things.

Brennen's moonstones would be more discreet. Tink could also serve as a living light source in her incorporeal form.

The group don't have much difficulty finding a secluded spot to rest, they are a little to the south east of the mountains they had earlier circled to the west of.
The entire southern end of the Steadlands including Burr is situated in a break in the mountainous range that stretches from the sea all the way to the eastern empire and the ground here is to rough to farm anything but sheep and goats so there is little chance of the party being disturbed unless they are being tracked.
Still caution is best - order of watches and other precautions for the night?

Ka'lion takes first watch, and waters his horse, removing all gear and saddles to give his horse some rest.

Vadania and Ylva can take second watch.

Things pass quietly for most of the night until Brennens watch when movement against the light of the rising sun catches his attention.
Tink investigates while he keeps watch over the party and finds that it was just a wolf that has a lair nearby. Peering into the lair itself though she notes that the rocky entrance appears to have been expanded with tools, albeit not recently, and returns to Brennen with the information.

(Tink will accompany every watch, since she doesn't need to sleep.)
Wolf activity is worth noting, but not worth waking the others.

The worked entrance to the wolfs lair is worth mentioning in the morning though. Another old abandoned site that might contain useful items. Up to Tink if she wants to take the time to explore it though.

I agree with Vedanta on this. But Ka'lions not going to want to go far because of his horse.

If we do decide to explore it, Vadania may be able to negotiate safe passage past the wolf so that we don't need to kill it in it's home. Something Vadania would really prefer not to do. She's not good at animal handling, but being able to talk to the wolf helps a lot there. That and a really big wolf so that the normal wolf realizes that it would be a very bad idea to fight.

I agree with Vedanta on this. But Ka'lions not going to want to go far because of his horse. The entrance is large enough for a horse (who will be swallowed up by a passing dragon if every dungeon, ruin, portal, and battle are avoided in order to protect it)

Ka'lion will miss a lot of fights then. But he can't carry his gear without his horse. So he won't abandon it. It's simple math. He needs a haversack and a quiver of elodea to carry his gear and he assent found them yet as no one well sell them. But once he does these kinds of problems well go away.

And I had figured that if Ka'lion got his hand on extra-dimensional storage he would start shovelling everything he came across into it, breaking the wealth by level by spending a couple of months auctioning off furniture and fittings from Clearwater
(plus an extradimensional box was supposed to be one of the quest rewards in the first bit of the desert adventure)

Assuming Tink tells us about the wolf and where it went.
Vadania comments, "So the wolf lives in the entrance to some old ruins? Did you want to explore those while we're here Tink? If so, I can try talking the wolf into letting us pass without a fight. I'd rather not have to kill a wolf."

Klaxons horse is carrying his weapons, his net, and the rest of his old rope, he coins - over 600 gp worth and anything else he fines. the magic ropes nice but he can't use in combat contains or he has to leave it behind. He has down sized his gear but do to his strength he needs everything he in carrying to weigh no more then 33 pounds or he's carrying a medium load. He's currently carrying around 80 pounds with everything - that's a heavy load for a 10 strength - remember when he was hit by the ghost his strength dropped to 6. which would of been a heavy load with 33 pounds of gear. Selling off his armor cut 20 pounds, the new rope is 5 pounds but useless in combat conditions, water alone is at least 8 pounds. His collection of weapons weigh more then 60 pounds. Now if we did find a haversack I doubt Ka'lion would get it.

"I'm in for some spelunking," says Brennen. "If there's treasure, the wolves might have kept away other explorers."
"I'll allow it," says Tink.

"So the only question is which of us tries talking to the wolf to try and convince it to let us by without a fight, me or Ka'lion. I don't think it could do much to us, but I don't want to hurt it if it can be avoided."1-41-4
