Peering through the illusion Vadania finds three unloaded crossbows linked to a floorplate, with a latch just inside of the doorway to disable the trap and a quiver of bolts hung on the wall next to them. The illusion covers a room that contains another table, an iron chest, and a selection of weapons and armour.
It appears to have been abandoned for as long as the room and Vadania guesses the dead man was an unfortunate looter. There is a symbol carved into the wall of the hidden room but Vadania does not recognise it.
In the larger room Brennen and Tink examine the edge of the magical field finding it to be another illusion similar to a mundane magic aura spell, though cast over a larger area, and a second spell to deter animals.
Outside Ka'lion finds that the scrolls are a mix of mundane, arcane, and divine material.

Vadania calls out, "Tink, I found a secret room with weapons, armor, and a chest." She works the latch to disable the trap (not that it's armed), then moves in to take a closer look. She'll also look at the crossbow strings to how they have faired from being abandoned, to get a rough idea how long they've been here.

Vadania guesses this place hasn't been used for decades, though the crossbows are still stringed. Perhaps they had been treated for longevity at the cost of power.

Vadania looks at the weapons and armor to see if anything looks useful. Though she expects they'll have to remove everything to see what is magical.

Ka'lion uses aprpease to see which of the scrolls are valuable - knowing to create magic item requires masterwork materials. He agrees with Vedanta that everything will need to be brought outside including the dead man to idntify whats magic and what issent and whats valuable what issent. Forchently we are not in a hurry. Ka-lion requests Vedanta puts her worlf on guard as the riders riders would still be in the area.

Tink notes that the magical warding does not extend into the hidden room, at that none of the weapons or armour are magical. The chest however is protected. Though non magical the weapons and armour are of good quality, though mostly light as if intended for travellers rather than soldiers. Ka'lion uses aprpease to see which of the scrolls are valuable A scrolls value is based on the spell(s) - they must be identified with spellcraft and/or read magic (appraise is per item anyway). Using the roll as a spellcraft roll, the first is a divine summoning spell - deific vengeance. (there are two dozen scrolls in total - 23 more D20 rolls)

How big is the chest? Specifically, could it be easily transported to be unlocked somewhere else?

How big is the chest? Specifically, could it be easily transported to be unlocked somewhere else? The chest itself must weigh close to 100lbs and the contents add some significant heft, but it does have hinged loops to use as carry handles. The symbol on the wall is also engraved onto the chest. Ka'lion is unable to decipher 8 of the scrolls, the remaining 16 (including the first Ka'lion looked at) are : Divine 1st - Omen of peril, Ebon Eyes, Faith Healing x2, Comprehend Languages 2nd - Deific Vengeance x2, Mark of the Outcast 3rd - Awaken Sin, Interplanar Message, Remove Curse, Remove Disease Arcane 1st - 2nd - Alarm(greater), Marked Object, Detect Thoughts 3rd - Skull Watch He notes that most of the divine scrolls appear to have been penned in the same style. A few of the arcane scrolls also bear a mark that Brennen identifies as the official crest of the Merebas mages guild.

The chest is too large and heavy to transport, so Vadania looks at it to see if she thinks it could be shattered open with a hammer without damaging the contents. She just happens to have a magic hammer in her backpack that she forgot to pass on while she was at the monastery.

Vadania asks, "Tink, can you take a look to see what's in this chest to see if it's fragile? I think were going to have to break the chest open to get at the contents."

"The chest is protected with some kind of spell. Let me take a closer look and make sure it's not going to explode if I pop my head in," says Tink.
"Good point," says Brennen.
Spellcraft checks to identify any spells on the chest. Brennen: f69DQzZjp_1-20+13 Tink: p_1-20+11
Most likely, a trap on the chest would be set up to trigger when it's opened, but you never know, it could be a proximity trigger.1-201-20

Ka'lion lets the party know what he's found, pointing out tomorrow they'll need to cast read magic to ID 8 of the scrolls. He also points out the party may want tp keep them as they are high-level in most cases". "I'm going to drag the dead man outside. He might have a key."

Vadania says, "Not likely, but worth checking. But why do you need to pull him outside to check?"

The man does have a key, but not one that would fit the chest. He also carries a long knife, a crowbar, thieves picks, and 4 gp in mixed coins.
The chest has an arcane lock and a glyph of warding. These spells are on the exterior and not concealed, the chest itself is either lead lined or futher warded to protect the interior.

"As far as the chest. Wrap it in leather so if the glyph goes off the damage can be contained. We'll hire a their to open it." suggest Ka'lion, "Or learn to pick locks yourself.

Vadania counters, "I don't think wrapping the glyph is going to offer much protection. What about flipping the chest on its side and using the crowbar to tear through the bottom of the box?"

"I'd put it in a pool of water if we had one and then trigger the glyph - it it's fire and many are then the water should protect you from it. But having a shielded box might prove useful." says Ka'lion

"Glyphs can be any element," says Brennen. "They can even contain other spells. One time I got hit with a glyph that summoned a swarm of spiders—it was nasty, I'll tell you that. The usual solution, if you can't disarm the trap, is to open the box from very far away."
