Ka'lion set's the book down and then as gently as possible opens the book. "So how did you break the transmutation? And will it work on the paintings inside?" saks Ka'lion

George notices that Riin and Astwick share a knowing glance as Ka'lion talks about national treasures but wait for him to finish his proposal.
When he is done Riin attempts to answer his questions first by pointing at the figurehead, "my hope is to use the magic to becalm the wind here. I don't know if it will be enough to cover the whole area but with luck it will stop a storm from blowing in and flattening the building. For now at least, you know as well as I Ka'lion that mundane storms of the least of worries here."
Indicating the book, "as for that it is a copy. I've been able to reinforce the original and prevent further deterioration but a place this size would take months, perhaps years for a mage far more powerful than I. But I have prepared wrights and plain books, given the fragility of the one Astwick brought back it seemed wise to copy them in place rather than to try and move them back home and risk ruining the text - even the slightest movement could cause the pages to muddle together if they are not first preserved with magic"

"I guess I'll need to leaern the copy cantrip then." says Ka'lion

"Amanuensis?" questions Astwick, "Well I suppose that would work, but that's why we brought the wrights along"
(It was one of the cantrips Melwyn taught to Ka'lion so that he could copy out scrolls more quickly. 250 words per minute, text only, 10 minutes per level.)

"Then lets get started. The books are over there. I'm going to try to figureout how to use the figurehead." Ka'lion is unable to lift the figurehead in his weakened state so he uses his magic rope to drag it away from anything fragel near by. "Goerge we can use some food and water for the day if your not busy."

Riin stops Ka'lion before he can drag it off the floating disc, "i've already determined the command word, we just need to decide where to place it. I would suggest near the building but if you have found something else within the forest you want protected?"
As they converse the small wrights wander over to the pile of books and begin scribbling with frantic speed into their blanks. Peering over their shoulders George notes that the writing and images they are copying alternate between clean lines and scrawled gibberish and he hopes that pulling such fragile things out of the building hadn't damaged them in transit.
Astwick asks, "are you all planning on staying here for the whole day?"

"I was - someone need's to supervise this job and I don't see it paying much unless the books include spells or rare lore. But after we are finished. It's back to the trip home and arranging to study as a shapeshifter. Are you plainning on staying or did you need to drop us off at home because you have other things to do?" asks Ka;lion

Riin looks towards Astwick, "you did tell him didn't you?"
Astwick replies, "yeah, kind of." Looking back to Ka'lion, "with everything that has been happening in the south the council of skulls have been keeping their heads down and have been sending many of the more powerful spellcasters out looking for a new refuge. There is one that looks promising, an old abandoned mythal - a whole island buried beneath layers of abjuration magic."
Riin adds, "the trouble is the screening magic goes all the way down so we are having to explore the place on foot. Even flight is troublesome with all the trees and fog, and we've been told not to rely on teleportation until we can get marker stones in place. Meiko is already there and I think they want me to join here"
(Ka'lion knows Meiko as the most proficient shapechanger in the community, another outsider though she had been with the group much longer than Riin and didn't share the younger womans interest in craft and construct magic)

"All right. George I know you have an oppion. When you figure it out let me know. But mythals are class ten spells and each is one of a kind. My families ancestors moved to this area to protect themselves from powerful enemies of good that can't except the undead as people and out of fear. My ancestors just thought it was safer for everybody. Necromancers do not have the best of reputations and good and neutral aligned necromancers are about 5 to 10 % of their numbers.
Most are evil. My family moved to this area to keep their enemies as far away as possible. It sounds like they are planning to move again. An abjuration zone with a strong necromantic support makes a lot of since to me right now. I'm going to need Meilo to train me as a shapeshifter and I'm going to need to retain a bit. But if everything works out. I'll make a one of a kind shapeshifting ranger but I'm going to need her help. So the first thing I need to do is face my family and my grandmother. But after that, I need to help my people. You offered to help me get home. Do you want to move on or make your home with me for a few years? It sounds like there is going to be a lot of work to do for the greater good." says Ka'lion

" Shamious here will need to learn to make better gear and train, if they can help him rebuild and train him so that he can rebuild his family's shop and then become a great swordsmen/blacksmith i feel thats all i can ask for.
As for me i never stay in one part of the lands for such great lengths of time. I go where i am needed. If i am needed and respected here then yes i can stay for how long i do not know .
If that is ever not the case, and i am no longer of service, i will move onward as its the nature of my duty to my god. "

"I'm not sure about blacksmith training. Our arrows are made from bone, thorns or rock. But the new kingdom may have those things. I don't know. But we can look for it." says Ka'lion, "It's an abandened island. Do we know why?"

Riin states, "we will certainly have a basic forge at the new camp site if only for repairs and construction if you don't mind crafting nails and sharpening blades. For a swordsman though I cannot say."

"No, though you could hide whole cities beneath the trees. So far we have encountered nothing but animals near the teleportation site and what construction we have encounter appears to have been abandoned thousands of years past"

Ka'lion has heard of mythals though knows nothing of the specifics. They are powerful spells, long lost knowledge used to create vast protected communities. They are rumoured to change the very weave of magic itself in a defined area.
The original mythals were elven and fair folk creations from a time before the rise of man. Lesser mythals also existed however, wrought by more conventional magic.

That's what I thought Ka'lion would know. He thinks of them as legendary spells and when the demon basted the party and jumped ahead over a month. He beleives he exsparanced one first hand. He'll help. He need's a better understanding of such magic to overcome his fears of it. He is just concerned of the posability of elves still living in the area in hidding and stealing the elves lands. That would create a whole new set of enamies he doesn't want or need. That's not something he can support. If it's truely abandened - it would be a tragady not to use it but if the demons did attack it would be harder to defend themselves in it because you wont know where the enamy is. One of the possabilities would be to us the magic device to blow away to fog so the party can see.
