Ka'lion will help best by taking the easiest routes he can. Most of the mages flying don't need him. He'll talk with the people to learn about their magic focus on the way to figure out how to make the most of them.
Goerge is wrong about Ka'lions nature. He's running away like always to figure out what to do next. Ka'lion likes time to plain and a storm is good reason to hurry. Ka'lion doesn't abanden people in emergencys when he has a choice but if they had refused to come he would of left them to die. So his nature has not really changed. He's just dealing with scholiers that tend to trust exsperts when they don't have knowledge of their own. And I have to admit he had good arguements. That wont always be the case.

Arcturus, the most powerful of the group, is not here currently but Ka'lion knows him to combine both arcane and divine magic and a little shapechanging. Arthur and Parias are elementalists Elman and Menelkir study the planes Primm studies glyphs Zedek is a martial (warrior) mage Traductus and Baratus study constructs Daedolon studies force magic Mazaera is an Arachnomancer Corvus and his sister Kora, Thysis and Septimus have no particular focus
Most have a relatively wide range of magic though some are specialised into schools in addition to their favoured subjects

Does Ka'lion wish to ask any questions of the others or take any notable actions, or does he simply want to reach the cave first and foremost?

Ka'lion wants to learn more about the caves and talk with anyone that's been in them. Goarge should take part in the questions

The lower caves go quite deep underground and were caused by water erosion in the limestone. The upper caves were caused by a partial collapse of hillside into the lower caves, though they seem to have been stable and unaltered for some time - the river that runs at their base is lower now that in was when the caves were formed.
Traductus, the mage who explored them, did not find anything particularly odd.

Are any of them carrying wall or shelter spells at this time?

Scrolls for shelter, though they used a number of them back at the camp.
(with a few exceptions such as Arcturus the group is around the same level as George and Ka'lion - 6 to 8 - so that they can group up should the party kick off one of the actual adventure hooks around here or return to the old realm for supplies and research. The significantly more and less powerful mages are still at the desert camp.)

Ka'lion talks to Goerge about the information he has. "How many contenuel flame spells are everyone carrying?

The group has plenty of magical light - everburning torches and candles, glowing stones, glowing weapons, and so on.

As the group approaches the caves, the storm still some distance away, they come across an odd formation in the trees not visible from the air (and therefore not seen by the mage who had flown out here before).
The trees form a kind of tunnel, running at roughly right angles with the partys direction of travel, as if there was a road here with frequent caravans moving back and forth preventing the trees and other foliage from growing in. But there is no road here, no tracks, no sign of activity.

We don't need to kill a tree to get that. But Ka'lion just saw where he's building his home. And designing a spell ID the ages of the trees should be easy if this place was not worded ageinst such magic. But they don't stop to look around.1-201-20

Now that we found a road and the first signs of this world we can see where it goes after the storm.

Various ages, some over a hundred years old by Ka'lions estimate. None seem particularly unique of different from the other trees in the forest save for the appearance that something passes through here frequently - though there are no signs of what that something might be.
"Perhaps blasts of air" suggests one mage. "But the path curves" notes another. "Something beneath the ground?" questions a third.

The group continues on as the hillside rises up before them, their target a large limestone gorge formed mainly by underground rivers. To one side is a near vertical cliff face but the party approaches from the gentle slopes of the southern side.
Pre-empting Ka'ions question one of the mages states that the river that was once beneath this hill had long since dried up, though a second river above ground does link up with the caves from the north, flowing away from them to the east.
There are two main caves. The largest intersects with the river and while not waterlogged is still damp and low down. The other higher up is dry, a series of a half dozen grottos a hundred yards deep with a comfortable height. Mostly dry though rainwater does pool in places.

They party will take the best sheilded grotto if its large enough to fit everybody. Then Kalion have the shtlers put at the mouth of the cave with the door opening on the inside of the cave. If there is a calapse it should be easier to climb out the window.

The grottos are damp but not cramped. The mages sort through their scrolls and find one to create a thick wall of salt crystals blocking most of the entrance with magical barriers beyond that.
The sky outside is darkening with rain and lightning on the horizon closing in. The sound of thunder is somewhat muted within the grotto though as those within try to find a comfortable spot to spend the night.

Ka'lion will set up a rotation to watch the storm and take notes about it from the window. He'll take first watch.
