Rain and lightning, nothing that would threaten the cave. Looks like it will carry on through the night though.
Further back into the cave the mages are curious if George has any stories of his travels, or wishes to hear any of theirs.

George will give some tails of his homeland and what it was like to move from place to place helping others.
He will in turn hear thiers. Doing his best to lighten the mood and to help pass the time.

George learns that the mages here are a mix of Ka'lions relations - who have mostly grown up in the pale wastes - and those who have traveled to study and either remained at the sanctuary or returned to it after adventures of their own.
Daedolon is still speaking of his own adventures when Ka'lion steps away from his post, of a coven of enchanters who had enspelled the rulers of several warring tribes of ettins and forged them into an army in the westlands.

Why did Ka'lion seem to leave his post at the window? Did he climb through the window?

Why did Ka'lion seem to leave his post at the window? Did he climb through the window? Because he asked the others to set up a rotation, and he had been there for an hour.

Ka'lion would of waited until someone took his place. Or appoint someone nearby and wake them up to replace him if he's to tired to stay awake. I know arcane casters need 8 hours or more of rest. So he apoints Goerge next and then apoints the order for the rest of the night. They had plunty of time to set up a working order of watches last watch is Semoious watch.

The night rolls on and the thunderstorm closes overhead, the mages throwing up a few extra spells to plug holes overhead. Though the rain is heavy it is nothing that would threaten the spells, let alone the cave.
Ka'lion is poked awake by Kora during the night, not sure how long he has been asleep. Outside she points him towards an aurora in the storm barely visible from the direction of the entrance, "i'm pretty sure that is new"

"Wake everyone up. Someone may of seen something like it before. It could be something rare and pretty or it could be a dangerious sign. We will contenue to watch it Ka'lion sists down to take notes.

" That is a nice sight, ka'lion i do need a full nights sleep to prepare spells. I can stay up a bit but i do need my rest too. "

"I know you need rest. So does everyone else. But the storm is going to make it hard to sleep. We may end up sleeping after the storms over. But go ahead and try. Just remember divine spells only require medatation and or pryar to cast. As the spells are given to you." says Ka'lion He has Kora keep careful notes and tries to get back to sleep.

Right now he is a bit conflicted, but the event maybe useful. So he will stay up for a while if it seams not to lead to much he will then get some rest.
Ok I'll stay up and hr or two ka'lion. It seams cool and interesting.

A few of the mages head out to get a better view, while the rain is heavy the wind is not dangerously strong.
Consensus among the group is that the effect does not match with the position of the path they had crossed earlier, nor is it something in the clouds being blown along.
George eventually retires to sleep. In the morning the storm has passed with only a light rain outside. He and Ka'lion are told that aurora only lasted while the thunderclouds passed through that area in the sky.
While there is some speculation that it may have been a form of metamagic storm the exact nature is unknown, no-one had protective elemental and long duration fly spells to head up and view it more closely. The mages guess it will reappear the next time there is a storm here but this is the first time a storm of this type has blown through.

"O'kay everyone listen up. We have three things we are going to need to do today. Return to base camp and try to find the animals. Someone needs to follow the hidden road for a day and then report back as to what they saw. It's just a scouting job right now but you might find a village or something else the group needs to know about. Once we know whats nearby we can make a informed plain. The last thing we need is a captured or dead scout. And those of you with training with engeneering should carefully study all structures our party built to learn about the storms effects. Goerge and I will be studying the trees near the aura we saw last night to see what we can find. Anyone gets hurt thats where you can find us." says Ka'lion, "Goerge load up on heal and food spells just in case we need it."

Parias is indignant, "it was your advise that scattered the animals, and half of us have been up watching this storm while you slept. With all this druidic training you mentioned shouldn't you be the one scratching about in the brush dragging the goats and sheep back to camp?"

Ok thats it i had enough of this in fighting put your fucking diffrances a side is that to big of an ask?
First and for most its why i left a group i considered family dont u dare force me to do that again, because i shit u not i will and he knows i will too. I have put up with this bull shit long enough from everyone and all i see no matter where i go is insult, sadness blame.
Stop contributing to all this hate..
What happened to joy and hope and team collaboration?
You all do is insult him, shun him, jear him put him down for any action or non action he makes. If he says nothing he is wrong if he tries to lead hes wrong.
A simple thank you would have saficed, instead u wake up and make accusatory tones.
You want to place blame, blame solves nothing it never has, nor will it ever but by all means do so. Ka'lion and i have left many who do the kinds of things your doing keep it up and we will have zero reason to stay.
He made a call, now we move on from here so buck up and deal with it but its on u how u cope with the world.
If you can't deal with that then leave when your able.
You have made zero headway before we came and u have been here weeks, months even?
Without us u will continue to go in circular logic as u always have. I for one will be ok with that.
I have spent enough time to actually get to know who ka'lion is as a being none of u have even tried not once. Thats not what true family is at all so to me your not his family.
Yes he made calls i might not agree with nor did he ever leave us to die or let animals come to harm.
We were teaped in a god forsaken dimi plane all he could think of is getting back to our animals to insure thier safty and ours and put his own last.
So dont u dare judge him and accuse him of not carring about the animals. Thats low and uncalled for.
The last thing he wanted was us and the animals all dieing. So he made a call, i fallowed it knowing it was the right call.
We go on from here.
Ka'lion im too angry to go at this point.
Lets wait if you wish. If not i'll ask some prep time then we will head off if u still want to go.

"Goerge, they've never seen me do the hero thing before. All they remember is I'm smarter then they are and my granda ma was grooming me to to be a great wizard. I just don't have the temperment at this time. When I'm older maybe. As far as the animals . Your right I do care about family and the animals. They are always my first priority. Keeping them trapped in cage most likely would of got them killed. So it's inconvenent. I said it would be yesterday. Of course Parias is belley aching because a lot of them where her animals. Releleacing them was the only chance they had. If we had tried to bring them with us none of us would of got to the caves in time.
So Parias why did you follow my orders if you wanted to stay with the animals? I'll tell you why. Because I grow up taking care of animals and I did it for most of my life. You know that. This is an adventure not a hide in forgein soil. We are trying to find out if it's safe to be here. Tha means we may be forced to move without notice." said Ka'lion, "Goerge if you need some time for your self go ahead and take it. We are in no hurry. There are plunty of people here to divide the workload."
"I want a report from all of you by tomarrow. So we can all get back to work. Truth is I want to investagate the road, and the aura. But the animals are a higher priority because they may be hurt. If they are dead. We eat them. Hopefully they are going to be okay." adds Ka'lion

Parias seems infuriated, "a report? A report? Who the hell do you think you are, swanning in here and making demands? We left the camp because you said you saw a storm that would flatten it and what was it? A thrice damned rainstorm is what it was."
"And you", pointing at George, "i've known Ka'lion since he was a child, and if he wants my respect he'll have to do the one thing he's never done in his life and clean up after himself." He throws up his hands, "oh I should have know this was another of his fanciful flights but no, we came here, we trusted in his judgement and now he thinks he's in charge. Damn it all."
Another mage, Mazaera, steps forward, "let it go Parias." Turning towards George and Ka'lion she adds, "Ka'lion, i'll help you gather the animals but you can't just go ordering people around. This isn't home and your mother isn't in charge here, Arcturus is... when he returns anyway." She sighs as the others start to pack up their things to leave, "was the storm really as bad as you said it was when you first saw it? Perhaps someone should check on Primm and Thysis."
(sense motive if you like, a surface impression however is that Parias is most aggrieved by being ordered around like a hired hand combined with a hard night on the damp stone floor. George knows that Parias is not one of Ka'lions relatives while Mazaera is - the latter actually a younger cousin.)
