( also u can brace as a set reaction each npc and pc gets a reaction per round. Most casters use it to counter spell once they have that spell. So u do have a bounes action if you wish to use it.)

Smelling burned flesh and fur, Sven orders Falcor to head over to the firebird varis is holding. She dismounts from Falcor and using her bonus action casts lay on hands on her self

Feeling refreshed and a renewed sense of vengeance, Sven draws her warhammer while moving toward the firebird in Varis's grip. Nodding at Varis, Sven swings the hammer upward into the fire birds belly....

For Sven's second action she would like to pull the bird from Varis's grip with the swing of the uppercut and bring the bird plus the hammer down to the ground. Away from Varis so that if it does explode Sven will take most of the damage( If its ok with Varis that is)

( the great thing about lay on hands is you dont have to spend all of it at once. So u can get to max and have left over for when u use it next.

Fyi i did say its a bounes action given we dint have too many players in said game, this way Paladins can help heal bit better. So it was all done right.) Will resolve stuff when i get home.

(Hard to say, I had to leap up to the bird and from what I can tell it is still 10 feet up while I'm holding on. You are certainly more than welcome to strike it though, I'm not concerned by the explosion. If it looks like it's dying from your blow, I can easily let go. Otherwise, I'll hold on to make it more difficult for it to fly off.)
