Well no foul language directed at an individual on these boards is ever tolorated, so if you ever feel like that's happening, you should say something.
But in terms of the game, yeah, I'm not saying that cursing out someone is going to be necessary even in the example I gave. Some characters may chose to resolve matters with clean tongues and that's not a problem at all.
I just want to be sure that everyone's comfortable with a little slang or swearing if the time arises and the character would take the opportunity.
I don't want and am not promoting post after post of nothing but one curse after another.
And if people do need reassurance that the words written are not targeted at them personally then that's fine.

Rojito, I'll break down the race percentages for you when I write up the official description of the city.
But I can say that those more rare races which you mentioned are not going to be easily found if they do exist in the city at all. They are loathesome races and if a drow were to inhabit the city he would not go putting out the word on the streets. He would most likely walk in disguise hoping to keep his identity a secret for as long as possible, even from some of his closest allies.
So yes, some of those races may exist in the city, but very few and very far between and extremely hard to find.
Like in any other big city where the rich have final say, there is a decent degree of racial descrimintion.
------------------
Slums are going to be located nearest to the docks and other places of industry.
Commonly spoken languages are Common Elven Aquan, often amongst sailors and those nearest to the docks smart enough to pick it up.
Other languages are also spoken by people of the speciffic races and those wit a desire to learn
The core races are the most common, but more will be introduced within the city throughout the course of the game and as I make them up.
EDIT Regarding religion, I don't use the D&D pantheon so I'm not all that familiar with the gods and goddesses. But we can implement it if you'd like. or we can just make up our own gods. I use a pantheon that my group and I developed. I could bring a little of that in if it is to your liking.
But in general, there is no central religion within the city. Most worship the gods which would most reflect their style of life (eg. sailors and those most associated with the water would worship at the temple of the god/goddess of the sea, The wealthy and those with aspirations of being wealthy would generally worship and build churches in the name of the god of wealth, farmers, guardeners/ nature)
It is a city large enough to house a number of churches devoted to a number of gods. Of course those religions with the most prominant following are likely to fare the best.

Well my idea behind religion was mainly alignment based... there are some religions that despise thieves and non-lawful things, not a big deal, but to me i was wondering of the Religion of Olidammara... Diety of thieves... of course such a religion isn't large... but in a city this size there might be some.... allies in such an area sry guildmaster thinking do you have the book Complete Champion? not a great book, but i have been trying to make my characters more religiously orientated since i have never done that before. If you do have it i was actually thinkging of maybe setting up some special things for it similar to the way they have the guilds/churchs set up.

I can get my hands on the book and have a look at it. I'm sure there could be a small following of a thieves' god. Maybe all halflings though shifty little guys. Don't underestimate the halflings. But sure, whatever you're interested in we can probably make happen.

I'm sorry, did somebody suggest that I'm from the slums? No way, dude. I'm way too pretty to come from some fish-smelling, orc-infested dock district. To the Nine Hells with that.
And deities? Pah. When we're through with this city, they'll be worshipping us. Or possibly just me.
...
I'll be playing a Sorcerer. With fantastic looks. It's understandable why any aspiring guildmaster would want me in the fold. I'm like a prerequisite to the prestige class that is Success. Oh yeah.

Udjat, i see your already getting into character And what do you guys have with posting while I'm asleep?? OH! I though about what could be our headquarters! When we don't have any job at night we could work at a club. Rojito can a singer, there could be barmen/maidens, bouncers, etc... At day we would have a cafe or something, it would also be easy to give us quests since these places are so easy to get info anyways!

I just wanted you to know I'm joining this game. I'm sorry for all inconvenience this may cause, but let's face it. You need me. Unlike SOME people, I'm not afraid to put points in constitution!
