he turns to the druid, in a whisper so that only the druid can hear him " you i can call a friend you aided me, and i know my skills out hear is almost useless yours are not. In a city and i mean a true city then yes mine will come of use and yours i my add my not be as such. we are experts in diffident realms as it were, i can respect that. i will fallow your lead not that i like to take orders but in a area a fallowing of anexpert is better then getting dead. as to selling things in town you never get market price and it is rare you do. the reason i have as much as i do it i find it along the way and barter with other travelers. the barrbarian need not insult me as he has, nor do i trust him. so please don't take it personlay when i tell you i have lack of intrest in helping him in any way. i don't normily share the things i find but i feel it is in my best intrest to do this so you can better understand me. I have been meaning to give the rest of you this as he holds out the coins he got off the bodies. I am interested in money yes but this is not enough for what i will need. you are the best person to have it, for you is one who will not spend it. I don't trust anyone very much these days but you have earned my trust. I felt if we are going to be out hear might as well put away in case one of us dies or we need it as a group. i would like mine what ever that would be to go to my family so they get compensated for my death. I have a wife and kids back in burr town and i would like to try and get them out, that costs money. I will not drag others into it i only ask my share. I never brought them up for like i said i don't trust. you lot could be working for the gang for all i knew. they hold them ransom and think by doing so it will make me come back. After seeing the way you act i know a good one form the lot out there that are so far gone they have no sole. But i will not hear what that barbarian has to say, and if he takes my money keeping me from saving my loved ones i have no choice but to do what i have to. i hope you can at least respect that."

The group walks on in sullen silence. The rain soon stops and the winds soon after as a fog descends over the land. After days of storm the quiet that replaces it offers no comfort and the sight of buildings looming in the fog offers brief cheer ... but for the realisation that this place too seems devoid of life.
The group can make out perhaps two dozen buildings - homes and barns, and what appears to be a church, but no signs of the villagers or their livestock.

"This does not look good," commented Vadania. She circled the buildings looking for any signs of the trampling that a large number of people or creatures would have caused. Even with the rain such trails might remain visible for a while.
OOC: Was Vadania able to find any berries while traveling today? She needs some to cast her daily goodberry spell.

" I'll go scout inside but i will need to do so alone. give me a few hours if i don't make it out, i am dead or captured. in ether case you know it unsafe to go in. both unlikely cause as i said i could get in there and not be seen. i don't want to walk into an ambush in a dead town. this is a perfect place to do so. I have a feeling they may just be at the church. but the hole town is silent, so it may have just been abandoned. but in order to know i would have to go in there. we have the element of surprise and this may get us info with out any risk to yourselves only to my own. Aelos what do you know would be the best place to get into a church unseen? i promises not to rob the collection box( he is telling the truth btw), i just want to get in and look around and not have to go through the front door. "

Vadania asks with some concern, "Are you sure you don't want the rest of us close enough to come help if you call?" She's not used to having friends, but she doesn't want to lose one!

as he is asking this he gets out a few things from the mule and puts it in a different pack he has. all he is taking is a Climbers kit, 250 ft of silk rope each in 50 foot increments, 3 Grappling hocks. his Master thieves tools. he also takes his crossbow, bolts, morningstar, short sword, and a Crowbar. He is trying to travel as lightly as he can. " i may need a few torches my lantern will be to heavy and slow me down. does anyone have some they can spare?. druid i am use to being on my own and i did this all the time so yes i know what i am doing. I am not use to others caring about my wellbeing and i have to say it is a nice change. i would have no one to balme but myself for going in alone. I would like other near me to help but right now i don't see a way they can. to many people will give us away, one other comming along may work. If any of you can somehow do so then i would like to company, if not then i ask for you to keep a look out for i may be in deep trouble. do you know of anyway one of you could come along?"

Vadania answers, "Sorry, I haven't needed light to see so I don't have torches or lantern."

"understandable they would make my job easier but are not necessary. I could find some while in the main city if i have to. i rather not but if that is the only option so be it, they have them all over the place anyway."

"The Church may be a place fearful people would hide. Or the barns with the animals. The town has not been burned. The tracks in the open may of been washed away. But the tracks under shelters that people would of hidden under during the rain would not be. The wolf should be able to pick up the sent. The priest may be able to calm the towns fears. The town may be in hiding. Before we investigate we should circle the town to see if there are any signs that they have left it." says Ka'lion

Not hearing a word of what Ka'lion was saying the gnome sneaks into the city towards what would be a place he could pick up a torch or two and then make his way towards the church trying to get as much information as he can along the way. I don't know the rolls you would like me to use for i may have to use a lot of them and i would like to know what ones i can use. Also can he take 20 on some of the rolls? for he does at least to him has the time to do so. He may not but he may or may not know that but will do so if you say it is ok. last question can he jump from roof to roof and is it feasible to do so, 4 it does take less time to get through the city that way and u are not seen as good up there.

I don't know the rolls you would like me to use. Also can he take 20 on some of the rolls?can he jump from roof to roof and is it feasible to do so For now make your own rolls. You can take 10 on climb and similar rolls. Taking 20 assumes you tried and failed several times (so no good for climbing).
Keep in mind this is not a city - there are around a half dozen buildings, many of which are barns or similar, clustered with varying distances between each. The settlement most likely started as a single farmhouse and you wouldn't be surprised to find that all of it's inhabitants are related.Nillfree advances into the village, the low fog swirling around his legs hiding the ground beneath. He looks upwards to the rooftops for more certain footing but the placement of the buildings here are erratic. A single crow stares back at him from the chimney of one house - the only sign of life in the place. Ka'lion estimates it would take only a few minutes to skirt the village unless a few more buildings lay out of sight. In addition to the church he can make out what appears to be an inn's sign. A creeking of wood catchings Vadania's ear, to the west, something is alive here.

OOC: Is the creaking coming from one of the buildings?

OOC: Is the creaking coming from one of the buildings? (Impossible to say - it was a brief noise from the direction of several buildings, Vadania would have dismissed it as the wind if it were not so still)

Vadania will imitate a crow call to try and get Nillfree's attention. If he looks her way she'll pantomime bending her wooden shield and then point to where she heard the creaking.
OOC: The above assumes that Nillfree is still in sight.
She'll circle the town with Ka'lion looking for tracks that have survived the rain (as if a lot of people or animals went in a single direction) since she had had the same idea.

"Do we let him walk into a trap or do we check out your leads. Can you talk to ravens?" asked Ka'lion, "Vadania; You seem to have no difficulty talking to your pet."

( he would not get very far very fast he has a speed of 20. If he does hear you gives a solute as a thank you and counts on his hand and with his hands asks how many and if i should go in or not, If they are not there then he will continue into the city. Then Nilfree would more then likely would try and think what to do next and stay hidden and silent as he goes.) series of rolls

"Do we let him walk into a trap or do we check out your leads. Can you talk to ravens?" asked Ka'lion, "Vadania; You seem to have no difficulty talking to your pet." Keeping her voice down so as not to alert anyone in town that they were there, Vadania answered, " Sure, I can talk to them, though all they understand is the tone of voice."

"So you talk at them not to them like the rest of us. That's disappointing. Can you train me as a druid while we travel and will you?" said Ka'lion also keeping his voice down and thinking he should of left his gear with everyone else.

It's easy enough for Nillfree to stay hidden in these conditions, crouching as he moves he vanishes into the fog. Remembering Ka'lion's suggestion he checks the church first - but the door is barred from the inside and it would appear that furniture has been piled against the windows blocking any view into the interior.
Led by Vadania and Ka'lion the rest of the group begin to circle the village, another noise and a glimpse of movement draws their attention to a stable near the inn.
