They would have shot already if he was a sniper. Took out our cleric or spell caster first. He has the upper hand cause he knows were we are and that we are hear. I don't take them for a fool. They would have set up in there and not at the window. snipers never more from cover in less spotted, no clean shot, out of range or main target is not longer in line of the shot. we are in the open, well in the line of fire in range of a good shot. Snipers for where i am from don't miss and it is rare when they do. They know we are coming, to them it is a matter of when we do. what surprises me is that they have not taking shots, as of yet. they might start, yet i find it odd they haven't already. if they are hostile, they are doing a good job of hiding it. let me know when your finished with the door. slipping out the back would not do much for there is little cover from hear to the inn, but if u insist then hurry up cause the sooner we move on them the less time they have to set up for us.

Has Ka'lion broken in yet? If not and the sniper starts shooting he is running to the side of the church out of sight of the sniper and break a window to get in. Stain glass or not. Glass is easier to break but much harder for a village to replace. Your forcing him to hurt the villagers. He doesn't like it. intuitive [dice=20] +1[rand=303425202379003175050912380684167395500494632869966520375250838697]

Glass is easier to break but much harder for a village to replace. Your forcing him to hurt the villagers. He doesn't like it. GMhas already said that breaking in is going to take a long time, these other things are happening while Ka'lion is working on it. As for entering though a window, there is the little matter of furniture being piled up against the inside of the windows that might slow Ka'lion down.

Climbing over furniture is easy. And people forget that most walls are hallow in churches. This place was not described as made of stone. Which means with an ax it's easy to get in. I just don't know why the GM is delaying it. But he is.

Still under the effects of his detect magic spell Aelos can see thousands of tiny dots of magical power through the low fog. The black cloud too is magical and seemingly connected, though quickly dispersing - both radiate conjuration similar to that found at the church.
The church's door still stands but entering through the window should prove a far easier task.
The inn, and the hidden figure within, lies 100 feet away - though who is to say that the figure inside is the one attacking.

Not having any means handy to fight a swarm of insects, Vadania dashes towards the inn. As she and Ylva sprint to the inn's door, Vadania comments, "I hate magic insect swarms!"
OOC: Double move to inn doors.

Vadania closes quickly on the inn, her sharp ears picking out the sound of a new incantation as another of the black clouds envelopes both her and Ylva. Three shapes congeal from the cloud, huge crows with eyes of pure red and claws that glisten like steel. They batter against Vadania's shield with unnatural strength, one catching a claw against her forehead while another dives low slashing along Ylva's back. Behind them Nillfree shakes his arms and legs frantically and hundreds of tiny spiders crawl around him, biting. Belomme staggers from the cloud nearby and waves at the gnome to move clear as he tries to focus on a spell. Still standing at the church Ka'lion ducks back behind the building, smashing one of the windows and pushing at the barricades within. Tag Nillfree, Aelos, Belomme, and Ka'lion's climb attempt, then around to Vadania & Ylva againVadania 2hp damage, Ylva 4hp damage. Both are sickened until she leaves the cloud (5' radius) and the cloud also provides concealment to the crows.
Nilfree is bitten for 3hp damage and must make a DC11 fort save or be nauseated and a DC 11 fort save against poison.
Ka'lion is looking at a DC10 climb test for the window - it's not too high.

first fort save [dice=20]+1= pass second fort vs poison [dice=20]+1= fail.
Nilfree knowing that this is not going well for him will take off with full out run ( run action = 80 move to the inn), to get as much distance from the swarm. For he would have little effectiveness on so many little critters he could not hit or even kill most of them for there were way to many to do so. the birds he could hit but he had to stop getting bit and getting out of the way of the spell. All things considered moving would be the best idea at this time.[rand=61609583557583395019615674391389024781835963949562528491171542555]

Ka'lion very carefully climbs over the stuff into the church. This is not a time to trigger a trap. He's taking 20. climb 20+5 ( this should not be a difficult climb ) search for traps 20+4 ( Ka'lion has trap sense)
if my take 20 is refused [dice=20] climb [dice=20] search traps[rand=631119535770267209423712152056396062565782107412825122313008178025]

Aelos follows the Rogue and the Druid to the inn, weapon in hand.
OOC: I believe it's going to take me longer due to my encumbrance to reach the inn, but if I can, I'd like to charge one of the unnatural crows.

Aelos pursues his fast moving companions, unable to reach the dark cloud under the weight of his armour but close enough to give the crows something else to deal with. Beyond him Nillfree is almost at the door though seems to be slowing. A blast of fire from behind causes him to flinch but the priest dare not look back so close to these fiendish assailants, he can only hope that the mage's magic will deal with the spiders. (tag Vadania/Ylva)Taking 20 represents a character failing several times - i.e. falling on their ass while climbing. Not really suitable for a DC10 test which can be automatically passed just by being careful
I'll take your roll though, otherwise Ka'lion will be spending the rest of this encounter climbing. Next action will be the search unless you change your mind when your init comes around.
Nillfree -1 strength (poison)

taking 20 only means that your welling to make mistakes and are being annoyingly careful but I see little reason to quibble over it. What does Ka'lion see behind the stuff he is climbing on and what is he climbing over?

Pushing past stacked pews, shelves, and hung rugs Ka'lion can smell more than he can see, with the window smashed there is the distinct smell of blood... taking 20 only means that your welling to make mistakes (- "it assumes that you fail many times before succeeding" which is why it can't be used for tests with a failure penalty. Taking 10 is ok though, as long as you have the time)

Ka'lion will ready his weapon as soon as he can. Who ever killed what ever was here could still be here. I'm looking for tracks and continue to search for traps. search check continues. Unless the creature teleported away. It should still be here. [dice=20]+4[rand=7027223955374211378900808049365978623905777931218920186327304691]

Huge crows were easier to fight than swarms of insects. And just as hard to ignore. Since Vadania was out of room to run, she gave a brief command to Ylva and they surrounded one of the crows. Vadania struck with her long sword, Ylva with her teeth. If Ylva managed to sink her teeth into the crow, she'll try to throw it to the ground (trip). Vadania struggled to see through the black cloud, choking and sickening. Her blade struck true, but was turned away be some invsible force about the bird.
Ylva was more successful, circling out of the cloud to catch one of the birds her head began to clear and with a deft leap caught one of the wheeling assailants in her teeth. With an audiable crack the bird returned to the smoke that had spawned it, one down.
The remaining two birds spun away to pursue Nillfree, protecting the inn itself. A warning shout from Aelos allowed the gnome to duck one, but the second caught a flailing arm leaving a long but shallow gash along it's length.
A new cloud of darkness forms before him filling the entrance to the inn, but no new creatures emerge from within.
Ka'lion pushes aside more of the furniture, now able to see inside. A dozen or more bodies, recently killed, lie within the church huddled together as if beset from all sides.
Tag Nillfree and Aelos, and then back around to Harknail
Nillfree takes 2 points of damage. Navarre uses another burning hands.
(Harknail - this assumes you didn't include the penalty for sickness in your rolls - if you did, then you hit and i'll change the post)
